That seems like a particularly vulnerable location for a battery in terms of the splashing of water. I’d definitely goop up the connections with silicone grease myself. 😉
Yep it’s a bad place for them. Unfortunately, anything tacky like grease would attract dirt and moisture. I’ve had the best luck treating them like riding mowers
Instead of a small screwdriver, how about a folded over scrap piece of ziptie to hold those nuts in place temporarily? I’m always thinking outside the box. 😁🔧👍 I have one drawer in my parts cabinet for zipties, scraps of wires, etc, and I toss cutoff zipties in there because they come in handy sometimes just like metal and wood scraps.
