    I laugh every time one of them says "no thank you" and dismisses any rebuttals with a wave of the hand. I want to see more of that.

      on the other hand it gives both him, the speaker, and the audience a pause in the stream of information

    • @doctorpc1531
      @doctorpc1531 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a bit of a "ladies and gentlemanner" myself, I think it's a poor man's pause. It's easier for you vocal chords and keeps you speaking, but ultimately it would be way better to just hold a pause _between_ statements rather than a "ladies and gentlemen" _interrupting_ them.

    • @Jackie_Tikki_Tavi
      @Jackie_Tikki_Tavi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i'm not sure. For me, pauses are inconsistent as they are just a blank, it's a bit awkward as i have to wait for the speaker to continue or give me any other cue for his stream of thought. instead, i end up contemplating the given information and trailing off. Then they keep talking but i'm already somewhere else and i need to catch up and figure out if what they're saying is related to what was said previously or a new, or slightly different, topic. "L&G" is a clear "i'm done. now, listen here". The guy here might've overused it, thought. it's a lack of other sign words and connectors that harms him.

      @ashlynnpollard5260 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ronette Castillo this isn't parliamentary debate. It's world schools. It's proposition vs opposition. There don't have to be parameters or def of terms, they are only there if you have an overwhelming broad topic. However, they do actually have them and they're set up when it's stated that the opposition has to prove x to win the round (I believe in this one it is that they have to prove immigration has been bad).

    Why is there so much personal opinion in this debate? I think? I feel? Where are the facts and logical arguments? I'm 16 minutes in but. The affirmative gave the weakest emotionally based intro and the negative is not crushing her for it enough. I cant go on.

      Saying "I think" and "I feel" to present facts or logical arguments is common practise in debate. Otherwise the case may come off as flippant.
