I loved Liberace’s also. I was so fascinated with his outlandish costumes and the sound of his voice. His voice was so unique but I truly loved when he play the piano.
In a way that's very true. But he was such a big showman that everything leading up to the actual performance did have a way of competing with it 🤩 arriving on stage in a Rolls-Royce with a mink coat that had a 10ft long train behind it was pretty extravagant, but that's why he was the highest paid celebrity in the world at the time. He was criticized for not being more stoic and did the criticism upset him? He famously replied "well yes, I cry all the way to the bank"
What a fun video. I too am a Liberace fan. I have been to Liberace's house here in Las Vegas. What a gorgeous, eccentric place. I have seen the mink coats, diamond buttons, huge rings and 4th of July shorts. His museum is now closed but I have seen the Rolls Royce's, the Mozart harpsichord, and the Elvis picture. The movie Behind the Candelabra was fantastic. Again your tour of Palm Springs has taken all of us on a magical tour. Please do many more for your subscribers.
You're luck. I wish I had visited his museum while it was still there. Palm Springs does have a lot of old Hollywood history. Thanks for the suggestion, Norma. I'll do more tours in the future.
You Palm Spring's folks sure know how to live! The Christmas tree lighting looked like a lot of fun. I can see Judy Garland in Lorna Luft. Although I'm familiar with Cary Grant's Malibu home, I did not know about his Palm Spring's home. I'm familiar with Liberace's home near the Catholic Church. Perhaps future vlogs with guests will be in your future. This one was very informative and creative. Well done.

Ahh yes, the Dream Team of 'Scott on Tape' and 'Retired with Steve' lives again. Yes Scott, in Canada we still do have the mailbox flag system in the rural areas. Freakin' phenomenal video by you guys. I'm now looking for more. God bless.
So nice to see my first celebrity crush's house! I will always love Cary Grant ever since I saw "North By Northwest" at age 12 with my mom. I don't know too much about Liberace, {sorry if I spelled his name wrong, I suffer from dyslexia.}
Just met scott the other day at forest lawn long beach . Really cool guy, gonna go filming with him tomorrow at a few locations! It'd be cool to meet you one day too 👍 nice work by the way.
Hi Paul, Scott and I vlogged at Hollywood Forever yesterday and he told me about meeting you guys in LB. Wow, hat a coincidence! Scott is great and I'm sure you guys will have fun today. I just subscribed to your channel. It looks interesting. Maybe we can do a vlog together after the craziness of the holidays are behind us. Can't wait to see what you guys and Scott vlog.
Another amazing video, Mr. Graveyard Guy. I would have never knew that Judy Garland never had a daughter, very intriguing. It was nice to see Cary Grant’s house
My step mom met Liberace in the mid 70s at the garden state arts center in NJ. She kissed his cheek. My grandma and my mom adored him and I did too. My grandma said she watched his black and white TV show in the 50s 60s.
When I was a teen, i worked at a place outside of Chicago called Mill Run Theater where the famous would come in and do week long shows. I was an usher there and sometimes my mom would come in and work too. Liiberace did a week there one time. He did this thing where he showed off his furs and diamonds and let people touch them. He approached my mom and rather than do that she told him she just wanted to touch his hair. (not knowing he was wearing a wig) He hugged my mom and let her touch his hair. It was one of her fondest memories. I met him and he was awesome. He loved his fans.
What a great personal story and memory for your mom. Thanks for sharing it, Kevin. And what a fun job. It's nice to hear when famous people appreciate their fans.
Watching this a bit late. RIP Carol Channing. So many of the stars you cover died at such a young age. It's nice to see that some of them were very fortunate to have long , prolific lives as well. Wow, please do more Palm Springs!
Wonderful video and I thought it was so ingenious to have a replica of the house attached to the front fence of the front gate I thought that little house was a mailbox LOL
It is a mailbox. I forgot to mention that. That makes it even more interesting. People in Palm Springs are pretty creative with their mail boxes :-) Thanks, Devlin!
As I saw on the HBO movie “Behind the Candelabra” he had that house where he could have a normal life and do things there for himself such as Cook and Clean for himself, even care for his dogs there too. The movie is a very story to see and Michael Douglas and Matt Damon do great performances in that movie. Scott Thornton his last lover, I heard is now living in Reno, Nevada and he has appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show before he went to SIRIUS/XM Radio. I think now the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas is no longer around as the last Great Recession killed in 2007 through 2009, when it was at its worst. I also went on a Mob Tour of Las Vegas and they went by his house in Las Vegas too and also La Toya Jackson’s house is also nearby his house too in Las Vegas.
Just had surgery on Friday and I am so glad to see one of my favorite TH-camrs posting thank you for continuing to post such great content btw hello Scott welcome to the graveyard
Thanks!! This was a fun walk !!! Enjoyed this..Elvis is of course my all time favorite!! I have missed our walks!! Love seeing the homes!! Love n hugs to ya..
What a great speech by Ms Luft! Incidentally, you can see Liberace’s piano (one of them anyway) at The Haunted Museum in Las Vegas (which was an episode you did in October). Not sure if you ever went inside or not but it’s very cool to see it up close. Happy Holidays!
Cool video! I really like the footage of Cary Grant’s former house and Liberace’s former house. The other house you showed that Liberace lived in that had the piano shaped mailbox is definitely a strange one, for some reason. It just looks so plain from the outside. Must’ve been a single-story house. Anyway, great video! You guys were a great team. Loved watching it!
LOL, I just visited your channel. Who knew there was such a huge audience for abandoned mines :-) I didn't know it was a thing. I would have guessed there were maybe a few in the country :-) Congrats on finding a tiny niche with a huge audience. Just what we're all looking for. Very interesting.
I love when these older videos get suggested to me! Scott's channel even had a different name. Looks like you had a fun time, I enjoyed all the smiles and playful banter.
You did a great, wonderful job, as usual! Taking us all on a beautiful vlog. You brought out the spirit of the holiday season for which we can all take into the New Year! God bless you and your family for the time you give to us. Happy holidays!
Amazing job on your vlog, Steve. So nice that you was able to spend time with a fellow vlogger and show him around Palm Springs. Looks like you both had a great time and had good weather. Thanks for sharing Scott's channel too, I'll have to check him out. Looking forward in meeting you and your partner next year and showing you both along with RhettyforFun around Tulsa and showing you'll Tulsa's history and old cemeteries and other history, along with showing you where Ben "Son" Johnson is buried and other points of history. I trust you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving! If I don't chat with you between now and 25th, I truly wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas!
I love that video of you and Scott going to Liberace homes.. I love his piano playing.. and I look forward to watching your vlog on Lawrence welk grave.. I watch the reruns of Lawrence welk on PBS.. I love that show I think he was a great person he always felt like someone I knew.. you know the best video of anyone.. I subscribed to your friend Scott channel but I haven't watched any of his videos yet. But you are the best my favorite vlogger. Lol
Cary Grant died in Davenport, Iowa just as you mentioned. I was an EMT on the the Fire Department but wasn’t on duty the night he died. I wish I had been there as he was in my territory. Rest In Peace Cary.
Hi steve i have just subscribed to your channel after listening to scott. How cool seeing our boy in your video. I am a huge fan of hollywood graveyard tours and a sucker for old school hollywood movies, cary grant was a favourite of my mums as was liberarchy i did love his music, it reminds me when i was a little girl my mum brought me a little toy piano it was pink and had the candlnarbra on top. A brilliant vlogg steve even aught a glimpse of the pink poodle from scotts video 😍😆
What a great story. Thanks for sharing it. I didn't know if anyone would still be interested in Liberace. Looks like he still has many lifelong fans. Thanks, Mandy, from one Scott fan to another :-)
@@TheGraveyardChannel oh yes steve very much so i loved his flamboyant manor. Did you know that he denied to the media that he was gay and i believe although i am not totaly sure i heard that a tabloyed printed a story confirming it that he took the newpaper to court and even went as far as deliberately being seen in public with wmen, maybe he struggled with it i dont know. My daughter natasha came out abov 5 years ago has an amazing partner and has never been as happy😍🙃👍
Yes, he was very closeted, as was everyone back then and sadly, most still have to be today. Congrats to your daughter for having the courage to be herself in such a hostile world. It makes me sad that in 2018 there is still so much hatred directed at love. Some of the hateful messages I receive on this channel. whenever I mention anything or anyone who is gay, are shocking. Thank goodness there are a lot more viewers like you, Mandy, with hearts full of love, instead of hate!
@@TheGraveyardChannel i agree there is far too much hostility in a world that proffeses to be better educated but i wonder. I believe that it all stems from being afraid, afraid of the ignorance that prevents them from having an open minds, there has been gay couples men and women as far back as jesus time. In my small town of Rugeley in England we have a lot of gay marriages 3 of them i have known since children. 😘😍👍
Liberace had a home right behind the Chateau Marmont, and the penthouse that Scott is talking about was on Melrose. It's the one he had Scott Thornston thrown out of in the movie.
As usual another entertaining video. I'm jealous I'm out in cold Rochester, NY and you are in beautiful Palm Springs! When I hear Palm Springs I think of my all time favorite comedian Jack Benny. Anyways thanks again for another great video.
Yes, I think his former house is on the next street over from Cary Grant's. I just visited his crypt a few days ago. I should probably show his house too. Thanks for the idea.
Love the video,so interesting and Steve it looks like you came at the right time lorna luft omg,I wish it were me,I would love to to see all these beautiful homes
Hi I grew up in Liberace's boy hood neighborhood I graduated from West Milwaukee Hi Liberace's ala mater My father knew Liberace as a kid Many stories I grew up hearing on Walter Liberace Most called him Lee But back in West Allis We referred to him as Wally To this day I am a huge fan Sad to say I never went to see him perform He was long gone from West Allis as I grew up But from my dad and Grandmother and the neighbors, and teachers at West Milwaukee High school The stories lived on Thanks for sharing Oh I did make it to the museum in Las Vegas before it closed Thanks for the video
When Liberace performed in New Jersey he used some of the Afghan show dogs that the man across the street from me owned. I would wash and groom the dogs and got to go that night to also see most of the show. Liberace was so nice in stopping by to meet us and the dogs (he luved animals) and he was so easy to talk too. I showed him a picture my mother had taken of me as a child sitting on the floor watching him perform. I guess he was touched by that and he took off a beautiful ring and said would I like it and of course I said I couldn't...He wouldn't take "no" for an answer. When the stage hand brought the dogs backstage he handed me a ring and quickly walked away and closed the backstage door. The ring has a dark blue 6 caret diamond, 4 large top bottom diamond begets (sp?) 5 large diamonds on eighter side of the blue diamond, 24 smaller diamonds on each side of the ring band in platinum, and had to be sized for my finger as he had big hands. I'm not saying this to 'brag' by any means. I'm shareing this to show the kindness, & how giving Liberace was! He truly cared about his fans. When the weather gets abit better & if a nice guy named Frank & I ghost hunt you'll probably see the ring in some of the videos. For Mr. 'G' fans I'll point it out in at least one video. The ring is the from my knuckle to the top of the 1st joint of my ring finger. I'll never forget that night and how people luved the beauitful dogs as they pranced on stage and hearing that music. Sorry this is so long.
Wow thanks for sharing that personal story. That's fantastic and what a great memory. I'll look for your ring in your upcoming videos. Thanks, Shelton!
What a super video, I can't believe I am just finding it. Liberace's houses I have to say look a lot nicer than the one in Vegas? I watched a video of that earlier when it was left to go to ruin, although I do believe someone has since purchased it and renovated it, unfortunately, in the same style as Liberace. Sorry, but his taste was dreadful LOL. I also imagine what it would be like when someone asks where you live and you say Cary Grant's house.. how fabulous. That mail box idea is wonderful too, I am in the UK and we also have to take any mail to the post box or the Post Office. I wish we could have those little boxes here too, it would certainly save a lot of trips if the post man was able to collect too. I love it and I also hope you guys get the opportunity to do more videos together, I follow both of you on here :)
LOL, he was over the top :-) i think scott and i have done two others together since this one. hopefully more in the future. he's a really nice and fun guy. thanks, queenrock!
When me and my friend went to la, I hit the cemetery, he hit the gay bars. Different strokes!! Anyhow, Liberace was the first grave I found. I want to vlog Detroit graveyards, as we have many Motown artists, and Jay Sebring. I've been doing graveyards for 35 years!! Love your stuff!! Ty
LOL about you and your friend :-) Have you thought about doing videos of the graveyards you visit, like I do? I just visited your channel and didn't see any. Thanks for watching and commenting, Traci!
I just found some really old, OLD silver coins and old listed a 'gold' paper money in the metal box, looks almost new while metal detecting, but also found a Beatles & Elvis medallions still in the plastic casings. Nice change after days of metal cans & junk findings. Well, onto the video.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Could do it along with the ring. If you have a post box if you're into Elvis/Beatles and coins I'd send them to you. Fun to share finds. 😊
@@TheGraveyardChannel Think if I sent a small package to Forrest Lawn Cematary in your Grave ECT title that they would call you & tell you it's there? Just a thought, but it's 5 am & way past bed time.
No, I'm not connected with Forest Lawn in any way and it's 2 hours from where I live. I'm thinking about getting a PO box. I'll post it on my about page and on my Community page, if I do.
Carol Channing died January 15th, 2019 in Rancho Mirage out by you Steve. That could be another visit for your channel in the future. Keep up the wonderful work!
This is great. Palm Springs rivals Beverly Hills when it comes to star's homes and history. I might have, well, maybe not have jumped Cary Grant's gate for a quick video with a getaway car nearby. I have been to Liberace's tomb.
Yes, it does and lol :-) Also, I just read your email. Sounds good. I'll send you a reply as soon as I finish answering all of these comments. Thanks, George!
To answer your question: that was the Church that they filmed the movie "Behind the Candelabra".. Also that was our priest, Father John, who gave the homily of Liberace's funeral scene at the end of the movie. He is the parish priest at that church Our Lady of Solitude.
Great little tour you guys took us on. I never would have though Canada didn't use flags on mailboxes. Been up there quite a bit and never paid attention. I guess we're lazy! Ha!
LOL. I've never been to Canada. Hope to get up there one of these days. I thought that maybe you were out of town, since you didn't upload over the weekend. Thanks, Rhetty.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Canada is a great place to visit. I love it there and everyone is so friendly. No, I didn't go out of town but I'll be uploading a new one soon.
You're my Oklahoma and surrounding area tour guide. I wouldn't miss an episode! And, if my grandparents and uncles and aunts from OK were still alive, they would love your show, too! So, I'm watching for them, as well :-)
Archibald Leach with the name of Cary Grant Archibald literacies real name that's what is real name was Cary Grant's real name Archibald Leach that's amazing
If I lived in Cary Grant's house I would be letting people come inside and tour it (for a fee, of course😉). I hate it when celebrities have their ashes scattered and we can't pay our respects. I have a request. When you are back at Forest Lawn sometime can you visit Rod Taylor, of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" fame plus many other amazing movies like The Time Machine. I am a huge fan of his and I would love to see his final resting place. Thank you!
Steve, I did not know that you knew Scott! I have subscribed to his channel for sometime now. How did you two meet? You two make a great team! Loved the video as always and I learned something about the US postal service regarding the flag up! I didn’t know that either.
I think I commented on how much I liked one of his vlogs and he replied that he was coming to Palm Springs and we should do a vlog together. He'll be in LA again in a couple of weeks and we are planning to do another vlog together. I'm looking forward to it. He's a great guy! Thanks, Kevin!
Cary Grant was one of my favorite Golden Era actors. Didn't know he had no resting place. Thanks Steve!

Cary Grant, lovely. Born in Bristol. Ahh, you cannot beat the legendary classic actors/actresses. Another fab video😉

I completely agree with everything you just said!
Liberace had a home right behind the Chateau Marmont, and the penthouse that Scott is talking about was on Melrose. It's the one he had Scott Thornston thrown out of in the movie.
Thanks for sharing that. I used to live in that area and I never knew that. Thanks ED!
@@TheGraveyardChannel No problem, thanks for the great videos. I will see if I can find a link to the house behind the Chateau and the penthouse.
Nice see 2 greats together good job guys
Merry Christmas, beautiful tree lighting. Thanks for another great vlog.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you , too, Lois. I have a couple more Christmas vlogs coming up before the end of the year, too.
This is great ty
Thanks, Melissa!
Very enjoyable! Thank you
Thanks, Bonnie!
Thanks for this video on one of my all time favorite male actors. Hope to meet you one day.
Love the video,so interesting and Steve it looks like you came at the right time lorna luft omg,I wish it were me,I would love to to see all these beautiful homes

I'm a new subscriber and I love your videos💕
Thanks, Judy!
Very interesting i love all your videos. I'm still looking at your previous video's, since I'm new to your channel! 😊👍
Thanks for watching, Denise!
@@TheGraveyardChannel You're welcome 😊
You guys have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks, Robin. You too!
Just found this vlog😀😀my two favourite vloggers 💖
I remember Liberace's fun appearances on Batman and the Monkees. 😁
How fun - a Guest commentator!!!!
Hey Flavio! I didn't know you watched. Wish you had been with us!
@@TheGraveyardChannel I watch them from time to time!
I'm glad. Especially since you aren't into graves and final resting places :-)
Love this i will subscribe to Scott on the tape blessing to you both
When Liberace performed in New Jersey he used some of the Afghan show dogs that the man across the street from me owned.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Will do. Hope you had fun at the tree lighting. I like your bud, a fun nice guy.
Yes, he's great. Thanks.
Over the top, just a bit LOL. Thank you for the response, I will certainly look for the other videos done with Scott :)
I always watched Lawrence Well with my parents too.
The Lennon Sisters and The Mills Brothers were always my favorites when they appeared.
You guys are the best!
Give my love to Scott and u Steve
Favorite Cary Grant movie: Arsenic and Old Lace. Underrated Grant film.
Thanks for the combination
So cool Steve and Scott in the same video!!!
thanks from Toronto and say hi to your Toronto friend.
That's really interesting I wish you guys could go through. And look like to see it from the inside.
If you google both homes you will probably find all the interior photos online at Palm Springs Life magazine. Thanks, Robin!
That would be interesting to see if you vlog it.
I your videos of Cary Grant and Liberace homes 🏠 as well of the Christmas lights
Thanks, Elizabeth!
Another great video👍👍👍
Thanks, Richard!
Carol Channing died January 15th, 2019 in Rancho Mirage out by you Steve. That could be another visit for your channel in the future. Keep up the wonderful work!
Sadly, she was cremated and has no final resting place to visit. Thanks, Kerri!
Awesome 👏
Just noticed your new upload. I'll watch it at lunch today. It sounds intriguing, as always.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Thanks for watching Steve!
You're my Oklahoma and surrounding area tour guide. I wouldn't miss an episode! And, if my grandparents and uncles and aunts from OK were still alive, they would love your show, too! So, I'm watching for them, as well :-)
Hola Steve, those gates are really big Steve and your friend look very nice thank you Steve for sharing besos from Puerto Rico
I'm just glad we could see over them. Some are very high and have tall hedges, so you can't see much. Thanks, Iris!
Great Video 👍🏼, thanks u, koooooool guys 👍🏼
Enjoyed this video.
Thanks, Dee!
Archibald Leach with the name of Cary Grant Archibald literacies real name that's what is real name was Cary Grant's real name Archibald Leach that's amazing
It is ironic I did not see this video in December but since this video was made, Carol Channing passed 15 Jan 2019 in Rancho Mirage, CA
I know, right? Too bad she was cremated and scattered with no final resting place to visit :-(
If I lived in Cary Grant's house I would be letting people come inside and tour it (for a fee, of course😉). Thank you!
Good suggestion. I didn't know he was there. I will add him to my list for the future. Thanks, Helane!
Helane Solomon And I GUESS you would not know what person coming into your house would rob you either.
Love this video
Thanks Mary.
I love old Hollywood
Watch both of your channel s thanks so much ♥️🇺🇸
You are both my favorite.
