And his confidence of the MSR - that I was less surprised of but it was high note of the interview 4me. The NASA committee will recommend something by end of year then NASA leadership forwards to a procurement committee and early 2025 contracts time.

I'd love to see it, if just for the coolness factor. It might also have a nice effect on the stock price.

Hi Dave, I love your videos, one comment, you have acquired a ton on Rocket Labs stock, but have no clue of it's value. First stop trading it. Forget about options or shorting it. Just hold it long. If you could hold it, with your share count it should be worth millions. My father purchased 600 shares of Martin Marriatta in the late 1940's. Today it's now 8000 shares of LMT. Remember all the Wall Street Firms will do anything to get your shares. They are targeting you. You are a target, and they want your shares. Rocket lab annonce their bid price at around only 2 billion 😅. That price blow out of the water any competitor with the exception of space x and blue origine. The fact that Rocket lab got the study contract after everyone else shows that they offer something SOO good that it was worth doing a exception. Like Peter mentioned in the interview the big question is not the price or expertise but political... (Like sur SUEorigine 😢).
Following on MSR: Based on the new NASA committee info in the spacenews article, only Blue Origin, Lockheed Martin, Rocket Lab and SpaceX look at end-to-end mission, this being best for efficiency. Blue has no proven experience, Lockheed lists past glory missions and in essence boosts the original JPL expensive proposal calling for minimal change, and SpaceX completely relies on Starship. For SpaceX to keep their HLS promise they need to do dozens of flights to qualify tanker and human rated Artemis III HLS and develop internals for Moon operation so they do not have the priority resources, also lacking deep space satellites division, to do MSR anytime soon while NASA asks timeliness China launching their MSR 2028. Rationally this leaves only Rocket Lab as the only real player (with proven mission components and competences) actually offering a feasible, timely and cost-efficient novel MSR concept with company priority to keep the promises. In summary I am more optimistic than ever that Rocket Lab has a big chance of winning in a truly merit-based selection process.
It's a combination of two unrelated factors. Institutional investors are generally adding shares, with just not that many shares available to buy. But there's also a huge percentage of short-sellers, and again not many shares available when they decide to cover their shorts. So, the market rises strongly on heavy volume, then eases down on low volume. This is very bullish IMO, and almost any price point is a good time to buy, but some price points are better than others.
I would add global buzz among retail investors when 70% of the shares outstanding are institutionalized the remaining public float is limited (and SPB has a sizable option pool).
If you want my notion of fair value, I've a stop loss set on $10.15 (that's over 160% return for me) and I'm not changing that so I will stop loss out on that. As you say this rise is macro-driven, there is a reckoning coming for this historically over-valued market, thus I'm sure I will get back in. I will park that money in $TLT in the interim. My current project is building a position in ION Q: a dedicated quantum computing company most likely to be able to bridge the gap to AI first: ground floor, might take years, but it's my future RKLB, with Gates and the owners of a whole lot of computer companies, including Dell, are bankrolling it, and it's doing big volumes lately.

Of course SpaceX is the pioneer of private space, and has given cues what to do for others. But RKLB is hardly pumped up yet. The stock was in the SPAC graveyard 3 years and even loyals such as Vince valuated it as a mature company, not bullish at all. Only now have investors started to price in its true growth potential. Archimedes burn video was just to quell FUD spread by lobbyists as Neutron starts to be too credible for the competition, in the govt customers' eyes. And SPB is nicely differentiating them from SpaceX: more efficient finances, transparency as a public company, small launch dominance, mass produced ultra lightweight big composite structures, robotic deep space experience, high quality sat components (deep space grade solar panels, reaction wheels, durable planetary kick stage, ..).
I may be wrong, but I believe SpaceX relied on government grants from NASA to get it solvent . I believe space X was nearly bankrupt, just moments before it received a $1.6 billion grant award from NASA in 2008.
I don’t see any way the convertible notes or capped calls would result in someone shorting the common stock to hedge their position. Think about it. The actual bondholders have nothing to hedge. At maturity, they either get paid in cash or stock. What is there to hedge? They have made a fortune so far. I wish the notes would have been available to retail investors. I would have bought in a second. Whoever sold the capped calls to RL, needs to deliver shares at the option of RL. Hedging would require buying calls at a higher strike price… or buying and holding actual shares at $4 when they sold the calls. Shorting shares creates more risk, not less.

US Congress in some recent random(?) bill added New Zealand specifically to a list of places USSF/DoD secret squirrel space stuff could be shipped to and launched from. And a contact who lives nearby has said there are a ton of US military flights coming into a military air base near Auckland lately... 🙂
@@Mark_Kiwi - New Zealand is one of the Five-Eyes countries, along with U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia. They share high level intelligence, so not surprised about the USSF/DOD stuff. These 5 countries are the closest of allies.
@@joecooltraderAnd- to be brutally, brutally, honest- because our NZ brethren tend to be schizophrenic on defense issues- out of the Five Eyes countries who ostensibly are ‘equal’- NZ is, well, er., kinda…..the least equal among the five. Of course SpaceX is the pioneer of private space, and has given cues what to do for others. But RKLB is hardly pumped up yet. The stock was in the SPAC graveyard 3 years and even loyals such as Vince valuated it as a mature company, not bullish at all. Only now have investors started to price in its true growth potential. Archimedes burn video was just to quell FUD spread by lobbyists as Neutron starts to be too credible for the competition, in the govt customers' eyes.
And SPB is nicely differentiating them from SpaceX: more efficient finances, transparency as a public company, small launch dominance, mass produced ultra lightweight big composite structures, robotic deep space experience, high quality sat components (deep space grade solar panels, reaction wheels, durable planetary kick stage, ..).
I may be wrong, but I believe SpaceX relied on government grants from NASA to get it solvent . I believe space X was nearly bankrupt, just moments before it received a $1.6 billion grant award from NASA in 2008.
I don’t see any way the convertible notes or capped calls would result in someone shorting the common stock to hedge their position. Think about it. The actual bondholders have nothing to hedge. At maturity, they either get paid in cash or stock. What is there to hedge? They have made a fortune so far. I wish the notes would have been available to retail investors. I would have bought in a second.
Whoever sold the capped calls to RL, needs to deliver shares at the option of RL. Hedging would require buying calls at a higher strike price… or buying and holding actual shares at $4 when they sold the calls. Shorting shares creates more risk, not less.
