Man, I just discovered that I can look at comments I haven't responded to and I'm beside myself that I didn't respond to yours. I very much appreciate the view and I hope I can give you at least a little bit of entertainment along with some fun facts.
I am so excited for parts two and three! I actually learned about Abe no Seimei from a college class (I believe it was something along the lines of "Japanese history through folklore/mythology"). Unfortunately that was a decade ago, so the only thing I remember that wasn't covered in this video is that he was rumored to be the offspring of a kitsune (although that may have been a later addition). That made me suggest "Seimei" as the name for my brother's kitsune bard in the TTRPG Pathfinder. Anyway, looking forward to this refresher! Keep up the great work!
It's funny you bring that up. There's a story about a part kitsune woman who causes problems in a province called that I translated a few months back. I can't remember the title exactly but it has something to do with "the vixen of Mino." Also, I'm glad I could help you reconnect with some old memories. The ancient Japanese were big fans of wistful nostalgia so having crop up because of some old folktales is very appropriate.
I'm glad you liked it. I was a little concerned that it might end up distracting from the actual story or end up sounding cheesy but I think it adds, as you said, a nice little enhancement.
About the Naruto thing, by shippuden the “spells” being cast are largely not about concealment but throwing big balls of energy at each other or summoning familiars or hypnosis type stuff
Found your channel through Metatron. I am a Japanese history/mythic/urban legend nut. And your channel is perfect for me.

Welcome friend. Metatron is fantastic. His videos are some of the most thorough and academic videos I've ever seen.

Aldlso the adios at the end was adorable! Cheers!
Very much appreciated. I never know what to put at the end so I just kinda wing it.

I just realized that I'm not subscribed to your channel. Gotta fix that.
