I have always had my cats neutered as we need to reduce unwanted cat numbers. Currently I've a male and female cat (same litter), they are wonderful but the 'girl' brings me at least 4 mice a week as she thinks I'm a bad hunter. When my dear wife was dying of cancer, my girl cat used to leave dead mice at the bedroom door because she seemed to know my wife needed help - it was so touching. After my wife died, my boy cat (who was closer to my wife) kept looking for her for ages....
Sorry for your loss, I'm sure animal's do understand illness and even grieve when they lose someone close just like we do.
❤💔😢
I’m very sorry for your loss. I’m sure your wife is looking down on you now from the heavens above. Be strong. All the best.
Truly sorry for your loss. Your boy cat is grieving for your wife. I know that while you're hurting, he's hurting too. They do grieve. Y'all can all be a source of comfort to one another. Prayers for all of you as you cherish your memories.
My brother's dog knew that he was sick as he battled cancer until the end. His widow and their dog were a source of comfort to one another as they grieved my brother's loss.
Geoff Buck So very sorry for your loss.😿💐
I'm 71 years old. I got my first cat when I was 17. I have had at least one cat in my life for the last 54 years for a total of eight cats. I never went looking for a cat. All my cats came to me as strays, showing up at my back door as young kittens looking for a home. I have been fortunate that most of my cats lived to their early 20's. I have had both males and females and can attest to the fact that my boys were more cuddly and affectionate than the girls, but I loved them all equally. I lost my last cat in January and miss him very much. Cats are the best.
Totally agree with you about male cats. I too have always had a cat since I was 11 years old. I'm now 62 and the males are so much more affectionate and consistent in their love than the females.
Someone is going to say
"OK boomer" I just know it
brahim abdeldjebar
Ok boomer
Aww... thats so heartwarming! Im so proud that you've taken care of strays, I know your cat is in a better place now. I wish you and your cats well!
@Tinaaq Hiltz And... What?
My boy is much more cuddly. He's also always at my side. My girl is more aloof but when she does show affection it's incredibly sweet.
I do find male cats more affectionate than female cats. Sometimes, females can be even mean, unless pregnant 😅 They are harder to manage when in heat than males, in my experience.
Georgio Ts I prefer female to male cats in my nearly fifty years as cat man. They lick my hair.
Exactly!
I find generally male cats more aggressive. Put 100 male cats to rub them on bellies and 100 females. You will see for yourself which side will bite you more! They are cuddly, but don't tolerate mistakes and when its too much or wrong, you will feel it as teeth in your skin.
My females have actually been more affectionate and my males seems to be more aloof
I just adopted two female sisters last week and they are so protective over each other and love their cuddle time with me. So happy I got a pair kittens. They play together so much and have each other to learn from. Proud cat dad!
Genuine question have you had cats before? What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting a cat/ cats who never grew up with animals?
@@Gusto4now *Try to gather as much information as possible and prepare well!* That is the most important thing. :)
.
.
Most things you can find out pretty easily but there are some things I always see being forget, done wrong or not acknowledged (especially in countries where cats are not that popular) because people just don't know better and there are so many wrong information and misconceptions in general and as a cat guardian and biologist it's really important to me to let people know who want to adopt.
.
*So here are 9 things that are not always mentioned in "things you should consider before adopting a cat":*
.
.
*Visiting an animal protection/welfare organisation (not a shelter) and talking to the people there* was super insightful for me because unlike shelters they usually are more careful about who adopts their animals (shelters are awesome, don't want to talk them down by any mean and I appreciate the work they do, animal welfare and protection often just have more money, less animals and better habitats, therefor they can often give you much more information and help).
.
Think about the fact that a cat/cats will probably be with you *for the next 15 years.*
.
You need to vaccine them once a year, neuter them if they are not, take care of fleas (once your cat has them they are a pain in the ass!) and other vermin. Also check their teeth and gum regulary. Operations can get super expensive if your cat needs one, so be sure you can *always put some money back for the vet or get an insurance.*
.
*Adopt either two cats* (e.g. friends, siblings; I recommend Jackson Galaxys "How to Introduce Cats" YT video if you get two strangers and that you talk to the people you adopt from to find out which cats can work together) *or an older cat that has always been alone and is absolutely not able to socialize with others anymore.* Cats are social animals and they usually need another cat to fulfill all of their needs (grooming, playing, scramble) otherwise they might develop depression and "bad" behaviour (e.g. attacking feet). There are many miscoceptions about this topic but cat specialists, behaviourists, vets and zoologists came clear about it and can proof that in most cases cats do better if they are not alone unless they have been alone most of their lives and can't get used to other cats anymore. Also of course special needs cats should live together with cats that work well together with them (two blind cats are good with each other, a blind cat and an ataxia cat could cause problems).
.
*Buy wet food* (cats ancestors live in the desert-> cats don't drink much because they get water from their food, kibble even drains water so you should only use this as a treat and for clicker training, cats that feed from kibble get sick more often) *without grains and sugar* (literally all the big brands are super unhealthy for cats) *and at least 70% meat.* Where I live you can get this good quality food a bit cheeper if you order it online.
.
If they will be indoor cats make sure to *give them enough space to climb, run and scratch. Best cat trees are the ones with a huge diameter stem (+15cm).* Cats love if you build them a parcour. *Use shelves and other platforms* to build a climbing parkour for your cats so you maximize the space they have without blocking space on the ground. Make sure they have either a *balcony, an outdoor enclosure or good viewing places at your windows* where they can watch/listen to birds and the outside world.
.
Cats are very clean animals, make sure to have *enough litter boxes* (number of cats+1=number of litter boxes, so for 2 cats you would need 3 litter boxes) and clean them up every day/every other day because otherwise your cat will find other places to do their business at.
.
Obviously (but still so important to mention) *don't hit your cats or punish them for doing things wrong. Build a good relationship with positive reinforcement*, do clicker training and correct wrong behaviour the moment you see it in a gentle way (You see the cat shitting on the carpet? Pick them up and put them in the litter box while they are doing it without saying anything).
.
*Don't bathe your cats unless it is necessary* (Sphynx need a bath every week, Long Haired need to go to the groomer or you need to groom them yourself). They can clean themselves up pretty good and especially a Short Haired that lives indoors will not need any baths.
.
.
I know it seems like a lot but if you really want to adopt cats or any kind of animal I hope you appreciate as much information as possible! :)

I have a male and a female cat. The male is a lot more affectionate, but he also bites alot and steals our food. The female is not one for cuddles, but she is very well behaved.
my male cats have always been more affectionate. but all of my cats have also been neutered
Just like humans then..
i have cats and the most affectionate is the male cat..
I find generally male cats more aggressive. Put 100 male cats to rub them on bellies and 100 females. You will see for yourself which side will bite you more! If male likes you yes they are more cuddly, will sleep on you or approach you more, but they don't tolerate mistakes and when its too much or wrong, you will feel it as teeth in your skin.
I have a female cat and how do I explain this, she isn’t very ‘well behaved’
To me it always depends on the cats personality
Absolutely! But the cat's personality is something which may be difficult to determine when they are a kitten since they are still in development. As some commenters have mentioned, this is why many prefer to adopt an adult cat.
Agreed!
I too also all ways choose a cat based on their personality.
Yes agreed I know my Calico is just a colour but I find Calicos as snobby hates change but doesn't like cuddles unless as always with cats on there terms and will protect me when I was going through chemotherapy she would only allow medical professionals to touch me anyone else she'd be very aggressive with my other tabby is a timid shy little soul but doesn't mind change and will hunt
Purrsonality you mean?
In my experience, (as someone who's fostered cats, volunteered at an animal shelter, and had cats my whole life) male cats can be more 'puppy-like'; affectionate, even needy, etc. Female cats tend to be more aloof and independent. Basically, I've experienced the exact opposite as this video posits on the differences in M vs. F cat personality.
MPH: You are exactly right! We've adopted both male and female cats (in multiples), and the boys are definitely more engaging, social, playful, etc. One is 1/2 Maine Coon, which is another experience in and of itself! Your comment is spot on.
Me too! I only really like getting male cats because of this.
Same, been raised with many cats from birth and all the most memorable lovable ones have been male. Sure, the females are mostly nice and well behaved but that's it, nothing else memorable about them. The male cats though... they were always on my bed or my lap. I walked with them outside, played with them, they were generally more affectionate and interested in human contact. It sounds weird or biased but I always felt they were smarter, like dogs. I remember when I was young I got into a tumble with a sibling and the male cat came up and split us up, he knew what was going on.
Right now I have 2 females and 2 males. The 2 males love each other and will often spoon together (both neutered) even though one is many years older. The older one took the young one in as if he was his son, he cleans him and protects him. The females hate all the other cats and mostly need to be separated, one female will literally stalk the others. Some of the females I had seemed like real "wildcards" where they would flip on a dime and attack someone or another cat. One actually seems like she has autism, she will completely avoid eye contact and is very antisocial. -All my cats are strays so it could come down to how they were raised before I got them but I think it's odd that all my "best" cats have been male. I try to be as unbiased as possible when giving my cats affection but of course I'm going to give more affection to the ones that seek it out.
mph seti same here.
@@LongToad for me its the opposite. I love all of my cats but the females were always the smart ones that came up for cuddles while my males are more distanced
In my experience, my female cat rarely purrs at me and she never approaches when i call out her name. She always find a way for me to follow what she demands. With a male cat, i dont need to call out his name because he is always quick to approach and mega clingy. Just too clingy.
my cats are the same loll
Just like human females - treacherous
@@nikw3026 just like human females...you have to earn trust. One transgression and it is gone forever.
mcddeguzman that’s odd for me all the female cats are purring machines
Male cats are sweeter than female cats
Either one! Cats rule. Kittens are awesome but don’t forget seniors and special needs pets need homes too. Adopt and save a life. They bring so much joy and can bring meaning and purpose to your life. Maybe a cat or dog will save your life one day. It happens. Also if you commit stay committed. Do everything in your power to keep them. They’re not phones to be returned or upgraded.
Cats and dogs are truly one of the best things in this life and if you don’t have a furry family member, then you’re missing out.
Kudos to all the pet parents of the world!
So true! Cats bring so much joy! I can't imagine not having my 2 sweeties around... sad and dull it would be
No doubt. Sounds terrible, but I've met MANY cats & dogs that i like far better than many humans.
I adopted a senior boy last summer and he was the best thing that ever happened to me. He’s 12 and we are the best of friends :)
Rachel Factor Awesome It’s fantastic being a cat mom or cat dad Congrats and thanks for saving a life and gaining a furry family member
Oh trust me, I know. My 3 year old cat, Leila, was being used as a breeding machine for 3 years straight. All of her kittens were taken away from her. This are her develop trust issues. I am very allergic to cats, and never thought my mum would get one for me. When we first got her, she ran straight under the couch and stayed there for most of the day. I stayed with her. But, it turns out, all she needed was time. Before a full day passed, she was already all over me. But she has ended up 4 weeks pregnant now because we didn't have time to neuter her, but we are making sure all kittens when born are healthy and safe, along with her poor mom. Cats are amazing, nobody can tell me otherwise. ✊✨💞👏
Male cats
Pros: cuddly, calm, less stress for first timers
Cons: likes sex, fights, harsh at playtime
Females Cats
Pros: amazingly protective, theirs skins are smoother than males
Cons: doesnt like cuddling that much
I disagree. I've had both male & female cats. The personality is the biggest difference. Out of about 21 cats in 63 of my 70 years: the boys roam, even when neutered, if they can get outside. Every other female has been cuddly. My experience is the earlier they are spayed or neutered the more likely they stay Mama's baby.
The current cat in my life was gotten for my husband, as a companion as I worked to support us. Even though he was cruel & rough with her so loved him dearly. Everytime he went in the hospital or overseas to visit his family she blamed me, as proof the bite & claw scars on my body. Now he's passed away she still looks for her Daddy. At night she roams around calling him. It has been 15 months, she grieves for him more than I do (they had 8 years together as opposed to our 40 years).
Personality begins showing-up as early as 4 to 6 weeks. A cat that will allow you to hold them on their back without struggling to flip over tends to be a cuddler, a snuggler.
@@kathe.o. nah.. sorry in my own experience. I am 33 yrs old. We adopted several cats. Im honest we never neutered males. The only reason we adopt cats is we feel bad about ourselves as they would definitely starved outside. Our local govt has no time handling stray animals. We live in a poor rural place where many cats roam. Our very first adopted cat is female i was 5-6 yrs old. I cant remember if she was cuddly but shes well behaved.
My favorite is a black male and another orange male who nearly "murdered" my finger. Both can be very calm. They sleeps beside me and will allow to awkwardly sleep above me.
I dont say all female are not cuddly. Some young females are very energetic. I once played with this little female so mad for straight 30 minutes using string toy. But males are a still the one I would choose.
There is certain "knowledge" that female cats have that can lead to being irritated. Example: my mother got major scratches that lead to 2 inch wounds by 1 of our female mother cat because i think we never properly feed her enough.
@@deathmoverz What exactly do you mean by "knowledge" in regards to female cats? I want to own a cat within the next year or couple of years and Idk what you mean by "knowledge" in the context of this situation. I have a lot to learn about cats.
i think the males skin are way smoother my ginger cats fur is really soft
Skin?? Sense when do do cats have F***lNG HUMAN SKIN ohhhh.... You mean fur...... I feel stupid.... 😂😂😂 Silly me hehe but that's sexiest..... I'M NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN OK!?!?!
after reading through comment sections, i concluded that male cats are more friendly/affectionate?
I dont think so myself it varies between cats every one is different my males are more playful and terratorial one of my females is very shy but the most cuddly cat i have is a girl squeaks has separation anxiety and follows me everywhere in the bathroom in the shower lol EVERYWHERE but she sleeps on me every night and every time i sit down she runs up and sits on my lap
Male cats are more cuddly, female cats show affection but may prefer just sitting on your lap or laying on your bed, being close to you and bringing you things.
I have 3 boys and currently fostering a girl. the oldest guy is highly independent. he loves head scratches but absolutely loathes cuddling. my middle child is the sweetest little boy. he sleeps with me every night til morning and loves head scratches, belly rubs, and laying on the couch with me. my youngest boy loves to follow me around- esp to the bathroom lol. he also sleeps on the bed with me but he doesn't sleep under the covers right next to me like the other guy. the girl is goofy. she loves being held and getting attention, but also runs away when you look at her
Thank you i was looking for a comment LIKE this 👍🏻
@@Christian-tk1yc that is the sweetest thing ever! Omg I hope when I adopt a cat I got the clingy personality like ur cat :33
In my experience, females are more independent and males are more clingy.
So your female cat doesn’t prefers to be alone and you male cat loves you more?
@@themainchain284 nah it depends. she loves me but she likes her space, whereas my boys are stage 5 clingers. but my ex had a girl cat who was SUPERRR clingy and cuddly. so it realllyyyy depends on the cat. but generally, more people experience cuddly males and independent females.
Just like humans then..
True... my female cat always start a fight and teases the male cat. My male cat is quiet and behaved.
@@Skswords825 strong independent female cat🤣🤣
My most cuddly kitty was my boy Orange.
He used to come running when I came outside and literally jump into my arms.
I didn't even have to signal him he would just expect me to catch him every time lol.
I've had both. In my experience the males were more affectionate and laid back. We just adopted an orphaned female. She's pretty sweet and social, but still in her feisty kitten stage. Always wants to play.
That's been my experience too..for some reason the males seem to be more affectionate (the opposite of what this video says).
Males seem to be more friendly at my home, the females are keen on chasing away the others. Probably due to an instinct to protect the home location.
The male makes excursions for a few days, before coming home for food and rest.
I agree. I had a lot of outdoor cats growing up in the country. The males seemed more laid back and affectionate and the females, while friendly, were more anxious and active.
I adopted a beautiful 6 weeks old baby girl 2 weeks ago. she is the most adorable friendliest and playful kitten and I absolutely LOVE her!
In My country Finland you do not get kitten Till they are 14 weeks old
@@marjariittagiardina7343 oh ok. Here in the US I am honestly not sure if there is a law on how old a cat can be adopted. But there is a law for vaccines. Usually it starts from 8 weeks old. My kitten just turned 8 weeks old and I am taking her to the vet tomorrow for a check up
Essam Allawi Same with dogs... 8 weeks. 👍🇺🇸
Wait till she turns into a cat...
My female cat was also affectionate but used to bite me sometimes hard by accident. She was also beast when hunting lol. But if she got to know you she will lay by my side.
My mom never owned a female cat because to her, they've acted more like female dogs (minus one skittish feral cat we owned). And all males were loving. Mine is clingy af.

My boy cat is the opposite of this video. When he was not neutered yet (neutered when he was 3yrs), he was a home stay, very affectionate, seek so much attention, never show signs of aggression with my other male cat. He never sprayed anywhere, never scratched furnitures. But he’s a little timid with people outside our home. Trying to train him on a leash so he becomes more confident because he does love the outdoors. Just the sweetest and gentle soul🥺❤️

says you couldn't care less if the cat is male or female, continues to use "She"
@Devselia but there was no mentioning of their cat there. it would make more sense if it was like "I love mine, she is my beloved furbaby...." which actually mentions the cat. I don't get your logic
Arctic Sunrize
I don’t know if this is the case here, but one of my English language teachers told me when I was younger that if a cat’s gender is unknown, people often use ”she” for them while for dogs it’s ”he”.
@@saeranchoi3343 possibly
@Notre Aira i think its sometimes a language thing. The cat in german means "die katze" which is a feminin/ female word and therefore we use a female article so it only makes sense to say she/ her in english to a cat but i dont if thats the case for other languages
My boy cat: loves to be held and sit on lap
My girl cat: hates being held but follows me from room to room.
I’ve had male cats before and I said “male cats are the best!” I currently have two girls, and guess what: they’re wonderful and loving. Moral of the story, all cats are the best.

C Dykhuizen, I want a playful but caring cat, what should I get?
Ashriya Javeed if you want a cat but are unsure, you should go to your local cat shelter and just hang out with the cats. Let one choose you. I guarantee you will leave there with a wonderful, playful, loving companion.
@@AshriyaJaveed research into some breeds, i have an arabian mau that is very playful but can be caring. But the thing is that it is extremely demanding for whatever she wants, she meows for food like an hour early and stuff like that, also hates *any* other animal, but that probably depends on personality tbh.
Thanks
I love male cat more
We've only had males. Both were very effectioness. And hated change.
My friend has one of each. The male wants to play all day and the female doesn't.
I have two males and two females. They all have different personalities but if you give them food and back scratches they'll all love you just the same.
My boy cats were actually more affectionate than my females. My females are affectionate when they want you to pet them, not when you want to pet them. My boys were always super chilled and always wanted hugs and kisses when I came home. Everyone was spade and neutered but the female cats were actually more territorial than my males were and my male cats liked other cats and were accepting of them, but not my females. I miss my boys, they were super sweet and friendly, they loved going to the vet and they were sweet and nice to everyone there, not my girls, they try to rip the vet's eyes out! And they are only sweet to me, sometimes, lol!
I’ve adopted both and loved them so much. 💕
Congratulations
Me too!😻
All my cats were neutered, but I've always had either a male or a female cat who assumed the position as watchdog and protector in the household. When I lived alone Angel always alerted me whenever someone approached the door at least 15 to 20 minutes before. She actively discouraged repair persons from coming in to do the work and I had to pull her aside and take her out of the room. I always explained to her that the workers meant no harm but she never believed me. My other females left the policing up to her. When I lived at home my male cat Bandit protected my mother weeks after my father died. One day the cat defended her against one of her so-called 'friends' who attempted to rape her when she was home alone. Bandit attacked the man and drove him out of the house. That was all the more amazing because previously Bandit was extremely friendly with that man and would purr and rub up against him.
God Bless Bandit!
@@jacquelynpowell7964 Amen! When I came home from work that night my mother told me what happened. She said Bandit ran in and jumped on the man's back. He ripped and clawed him up pretty badly. He rode him like that to the front door and then jumped off when he opened the door and ran out. I gave my good big boy a pet on the head, then left the house and drove to the local supermarket. I purchased some cooked shrimp, his favorite treat. He deserved it.
When I was a kid we had a female siamese cat who would attack male strangers in our home. Not all of them, and never children or women, just men. She once attacked the meter man in our basement by flying through the air and attaching herself to his midsection yowling and scratching. We had to throw cold water on her to get her off him. He never came back. And we also put our cat into a room with the door closed when people came over that she might view as potential targets. Although it was embarassing when she would meow and throw herself against the door.
Cats have an active spirit....should one not have eyes to see nor ears to hear, ...they will miss it. Thank you. Right on point! Smart kitty you got there!
@@madcat4301 hold on didn’t you go to the police the first thing?
And that’s an amazing cat!!!
I’ve had 3 cats in my life (2 male and 1 female) and I’ve realized that every cat has their own personality, regardless of gender. Also GET YOUR PET FIXED. ALWAYS.
@daisy neutered I guess
I had a male cat and until he got old and sick he didn’t have a single bad trait, except scratching the furniture, and considering it wasn’t very expensive and it was more his house than mine, I didn’t care. Most affectionate pet I’ve ever had. He loved his dad and always wanted to be around me or on me.
Wait until your male kitten is between 6-8 months, and a year old before neutering them. Their urethra is smaller, and needs time to develop fully, otherwise there is a increased chance of urinary blockages which are fatal if not treated right away. Also avoid dry cat food, and only feed them wet food as this increases urine acid levels, which dissolve the crystals that form blockages.
Excellent Advice.
I had my male kitten neutered young 3 to 4 months on advice from a vet. Unfortunately My kitty passed away do to this very thing. I didn't have a clue. He wasn't that old. But I learned right after symptoms and not to have either sex spayed or neutered to young. 😻🐾
My cats vet refused to neuter my male cat before he started marking the territory. We were desperate becase he smelled really bad, but he just kept telling us to be patience and wait. We had to wait until he was 10-11 months old before the vet finally neutered him.

Same here... My fluffball is a Persian male and he is the sweetest cuddle bug :)
agree. I've had two female cats in my life and two males. One female was cuddly, but both of the males have been WAY needier and more demanding of attention.
Is it true that after neutering the cats need more food and they become fat?
akash k no, I have a male cat, and he’s not fat at all after the surgery... there’s a special dry food for nutrient cats, and at the age of 1 year 2 meals only with exercises.
@@akashk3066 I've seen this happen to several male cats. One of them developed a kidney infection or problem after the surgery. Once that was fixed he got back to normal weight. I thin he was putting on weight + had water/fluid retention. My male cat is slim and doesn't have this tendency. I actually have been trying to make him gain some weight for over a year with no success. But I've also heard a lot of people say the same thing. So it could be a common thing. Better check with a Vet.
Who else is here because he or she really wants a cat but his or her mother will go kabooom if you say I want a cat.😂
SAME I really want a cat and I had a dream yesterday that I got one, then I thought it was a sign and I started doing all this research but my mom will never say yes. 😭
I have a 1 year old female cat that I adopted when she was around 7-8 months old. She definitely had a hard time adjusting to the change of environments. It was a good time for her, but also frightening since she didn't know the people she now shared a living space with. It took her a whileeeeee to warm up to me. No matter how sweet she is to me, she isn't really into cuddles or holding. Very independent and knows what she wants. 😅

As someone who owns one girl and two boy cats, let me bring up another potentially crucial difference this video didn't touch on: urinary problems.
Male cats of many breeds are at elevated risk for urinary blockage if they aren't fed a careful diet, and while it's easy to treat, it can cause serious illness or death if you don't catch it right away. Symptoms include extreme pain (they will vocalize it to you), litter box avoidance, attempts to spray around the house that release little or no urine, and, in severe cases, visible distension of the bladder.
Thank you! I have a 10-month-old male cat but I'm highly protective of him. Would you see urinating once a day is average? He eats a mix of wet and dry food daily
Mari Bella it's good he's got wet food. You're probably fine to keep doing what you're doing, and if he ever does have that problem, your vet can recommend specially formulated food. As I say, the symptoms are pretty dramatic so if you're a loving owner who pays a normal amount of attention, you will notice if it happens. The cat wouldn't simply be urinating infrequently, he would be unable to urinate at all. And it would be very painful, so he would let you know.
@@fawfulfan Thank you very much. That's very helpful :)
My kitty is 13 or 14 years old. She only eats dry food...(only science diet or iams. She does not like Purina, etc.) she will not eat wet food or any human food. She does drink plenty of water which I always have fresh for her. She is very healthy except a little overweight. Should I try to introduce a little wet food for her? She doesn't seem to like it. I want to make sure Caroline stays a healthy kitty.
That is very true. Also as our two males proved they can be dicks to their sister :)
Strange. The 2 males I've had have both been super loving and very needy. The female I currently have is also very loving, but she doesn't trust as easily as the males.
It's all down to how they are raised and what their personality is. Show them love and affection, and they will always come back to you.
Have had cats for al my life and the male cats were more affectionate. Someone should do some research on the subject.
LMAO he can do all he wants its not going to matter as it depends on the cat not so much the sex.
@@BERSERKERKINGREVIEWS yeah. We cant simple say females are like that, males are like this. It depends on so many factors. My female cat for example was waaaayy more affectionate than the male
My male cat was much more cuddly and affectionate and always wanted to be held and petted...the females were sweet, but a bit more independent!
@@giovannigiorgio2256 you're missing out buddy female cats don't even give me anything they never come to me or anything. only my male cat comes to me and starts being epic
I currently own both genders, here's what I can say about them.
Boy: Playful but a lot more reserved and gets aggressive when you touch him too much. Constantly cuddling us and his sister.
Girl: Very playful, But sleeps 24/7 when she shows love she shows it by sleeping on us or cuddling.
I had male cats - still have an old one. Last year I got a precious female cat. She is so sweet. Don't judge a kitty by it's gender - both are good. All of our cats were fixed, so that eliminated a lot of the problems cats have. Love your cats, regardless of gender.
I’m a new cat parent- my female kitty is a lot more affectionate than my little guy! They are both so precious, I can’t imagine my life without them now♥️I’m so very thankful for them!!!
I used to swear by female cats until I was pretty much bedridden and in a wheelchair and needed something to give me incentive to get out of bed. A friend brought two kittens round, one female which I thought I would take as female had always been my favourite but the male was so loving and affectionate and loved being held like a baby in your arms that I decided on taking a punt and getting a male cat. Mood Moos turned out to be the most special cat, he loved to play fetch, hung round me all the time, gave me the incentive to get up out of bed and learn to walk again. I had him for 8 beautiful years before he was killed by the next door neighbours dog who escaped his yard and came into mine. It has not been about 12 years since I lost Moos and I still think about him every day. I have had other cats since who have all been male. I tried a female but took her back as she didn’t like anyone so only male cats for me from now on. Izzy and Leo are great cats, love them to bits, each has things that I loved in Moos Moos but there will never be another Moos
I'm sorry you lost Moos :(
That's heartbreaking,he sounds like he was an amazing cat.
My little boy had bladder trouble so the vet advised against neutering. In the spring time he had to have a hormone injection to dampen down the spring fever otherwise he'd howl from sunset to sunrise and then get into bed and sleep the whole day to recover from keeping me awake the whole night. There was never a cat that loved a human more than that cat loved me.
My male cat shows off when there is company. He loves people a little too much lol. He is HUGE cuddle bug and gets an attitude if you've been gone too long. He would cuss you out under a rumbling closed mouth meow lol. He's truly something else and has cracked me up for 3 yrs now.

My girl is super clingy and is always under my feet. I never had a cat before her so it was surprising to me how loving she is towards me. She is cautious around my family since she doesn’t see them often but she opens up to them after while. My girl is always looking for attention and purrs away.
I've had 3 neutered indoor/outdoor male cats (1 stray who was full grown who followed me home from the bus stop, 1 found in a dumpster as a kitten and 1 stray who was a kitten from a litter in the neighborhood who was recruited by the kitten we found in the dumpster) and they all got along great and were extremely clingy and affectionate. They definitely patrolled their territory and got into a lot of fights with other cats in the neighborhood. I aways think back to wild cat behavior. When leaving the mother male kittens from many species will stick together to maximize their ability to acquire territory and mates and will bond with each other.
In my opinion cat's behavior depends also on human's gender. I think cats tend to be more affectionate towards humans that have opposite sex to their own. That's why women get along better with and prefer male cats. To me, female cats always been my best buds and I felt loved so much, like noone on earth could ever love me that hard
It's obviously just a tendency, not an absolute rule but yeah,
I do think that females cats and dogs tend to like men better, the same apply for the other way around
I had seem that many and many times
Well as a women i love female cats and mine's so affectionate with me
I prefer male cats and female dogs
This video is about unfixed pets. Male cats are a lot more clingy and cuddly
agree. female dogs are the way to go with dogs. ive only ever had male cats and never had an issue. friends and family had adult female cats and they never wanted anything to do with anyone unless you had food lol.
I got a kitten and the breeder told me it was a girl, her name was Princess. Took her to the vet, the vet said ‘I think princess might be a prince’. He is a clingy mommy’s boy, always meows at me and sits on my lap all day while I’m working, and after feeding him he will say ‘meow!’ and sleep on my lap :)
This must vary cat to cat and mostly depends on their personality. We have an orange male tabby and he is very affectionate and homey. More so than the female calico we have. Although she likes being petted She’s more independent and hates to be picked up.
Got my orphaned kitten when he was just 3 weeks old. He is such a Lovebug! So affectionate and friendly to everyone. Absolutely adore my Binks💞
Wow my male tabbie is a lap cat always giving love.. The female calico is a wild young jumpy girl always trying to go over the balcony. It's a long drop.. Both are awesome. Both are rescue.
I have both male and female cats. Each individual in their own way. Sweet, tender mischievous, ext. I love them for who they are and nothing more.
Male or female cats are equally good. Please adopt either gender, all cats need loving, safe homes. 😻😻👍
I have a female cat (she's actually deaf) and she's the best thing ever she likes to cuddle (she purrs whenever I hold her)but also needs personal space sometimes she's also very brave and protective, one a time a stray cat ran inside the garden and the house and she chased it outside and was sitting beside the door making sure it won't get back inside and another time a big dog was getting close to her and almost bite her but she scratched its nose lol and the dog never got close to her she's also very smart and loves the sun she actually adores it whenever we go on vacation she would sit outside and just relax or sit in the garden and sometimes she goes out for a long time wondering around but we always depend on her to come back and she also doesn't let strangers hold we always know that she won't get kidnapped or something and she doesn't bite or scratche unless u annoy her or hold her uncomfortably
She's seriously perfect
In my experience my male cat was waayyyy more affectionate than any of the previous female cats I’ve had in my life. He followed me literally everywhere
Two weeks ago, I bought a male Minuet 8 wk old kitten from a breeder. He arrived w/conjunctivitis, a respiratory infection and worms! I don't have children so this was testing my patience! Long story short, he is the most cutest, adorable, loving kitten ever!
I have had both male and female cats.
All have their own personalities and are equally loving and playful.
As someone else mentioned, males can have urinated tract problems. I like to keep them in the prescription food for
I have a female cat who came to visit me every single days I didn't adopt her or take care of her from her kittenhood..she is a stray cat of about 1 or 2 year old.She is the most clingy girl i don't know why she is that much affectionate toward me..1st time when she came to me she meowed at me and just give me sign to pet her and suddenly she jump and sit in my lap..she is not a adopted or pet cat but still she came to me..and its amazing ..i love her so much and i think she trust me and let me pet her whenever i want also in her belly..it's the best thing of my life
I had a male and female cat, but at different times. The male cat was pretty chill and was definitely a lap cat. He'd sit on your lap and purr. Also very playful. As for the female, she was kind of the same, but very vocal and would let you know she wanted something.
I have both and my boy cat hates being touched and cuddled, he loves napping and chilling. Loves going outside and eating grass (also bringing home fleas and worms) My girl cat is more vigilant, she knows how to get attention and how to act around different people. She’s so intelligent!!
I have a male and female and they’re both sweet, but with totally different personalities.
My male cat ran away before a snow storm but miraculously came back a month later injured. We spent a ton of money getting him fixed up and neutered only for him to heal and run away for good. It was a good 9 years while it lasted
3:03 OMG, the look on that cats face when he mentioned neutering. Lol.
I've adopted multiple cats. To me my male cats were my babies but my female cats were my friends, equals and confidants.
I've had cats all my life and my experience is just the opposite. Male cats are calmer and more loving and do NOT mark if you have them neutered by 12 wks. Female cats should be spayed by 12 wks also. But females are more on guard by nature because of their instinct to bear and protect their litters. Both should be kept as indoor pets to keep them from socially inappropriate behaviors. The minute you let them roam outside, instinct takes over.
All truth but further on from my experience, males aren't so tolerable to mistakes, do it for to long, or something wrong, you will feel it as teeth in your skin! They have to be more aggressive when needed, they are males and in nature they often fight for females.
what happens if a cat goes outside? our cats go outside and theyre fine should we be worried
@@waifu_png_pl6854
They'll get used to going out of the house after the first experience and will escape everytime. Your cats will be susceptible to getting worms and all that bec. they'll hunt birds, small insects etc. and sometimes rummage garbage.
All of this is true, proving this video to be crap.
Also, take your cat on leashed walks. It's very good for them and you can prevent them from getting into stuff they shouldnt.
I always thought that as well, and my cat is probably a rare exception so I don't recommend not getting them spayed or neutered - she was never spayed because of her age and of a heart murmur so surgery would be more of a risk. she never tries to make a run for the door and is one of the calmest sweetest cats ever. she's never scratched or hissed at me once since I had her, she lets me brush her fur all over including her belly and trim her nails, she protects me from bugs and sits on my lap 24/7
My last cat, Sasha, who was male, was VERY affectionate with me. He did run away and was gone for about a month, but he came back. The only thing, a few months later, I had to give him up because we had to move cross-country and couldn't bring him with us. I was 17 and it broke my heart. I still miss him to this day and wonder if he ever found a good home, or had to be put down. I'm almost 42 now.
YES!!I am planning a kitten. I am an Ex-pat living in the UK and having grown in a farm and having pets for most of my life, I really miss having a pet so that I cam love and look after :)
The heat cycle is the worst part of having a female cat. Mine got started at 4-5 months of age. I got her butt spayed ASAP. Smooth sailing after that.
I've mostly chosen male cats because they are less expensive to neuter. Any female cats I've had have been those who adopted me rather than the other way around. :-)
Lol cheap
I just adopted my most recent baby, Snowball, who is male and 10 weeks old last Thursday..he's a little firecracker!!
My 3 year old cat, Leila, was being used as a breeding machine for 3 years straight. All of her kittens were taken away from her. This made her develop trust issues. ✊✨💞👏
What matters is the connection between you and your pet(s). When I first saw the picture of my baby girl cat I knew - she was part of my soul.
She lives with me over 2 months now.
Never been happier❤️

I have one male and 5 female cats🐱🐈 Our male is extremely loving.
My boy is the most needy cat ever! He’s absolutely adorable and so sweet. I just got a new girl kitten yesterday. She’s already way more independent. 😂
The matter is adopting a cat that loves you unconditionally ❤️
It’s weird because I live with my dad and his girlfriend and she has a female cat. As soon as they meet they were nice and playful to each other but we took in a kitten and the female was being mean to it but my cat, being a male, took care of it and would protect it. I always thought it would be the other way around but sometimes nature still surprises us.
The female cats I've owned were very playful, but not really lap cats. The male cats were snugglers, but often liked to play.
I have had dozens of cats over the years - all adopted from the outside. When they want to come in - I bring them in and get them neutered and I have found the females to be more aloof and the male cats more loving.
I've only had female cats...because they chose me at the shelter. They were all very loving and protective, and YES, they hated change.
Funny thing about all of them though, I think they all thought they were dogs.
They were also indoor cats.
Did you ever have any problems with them getting along? I have a one year old female and just adopted a female kitten. Recently read that two females will never get along (of course read this after I adopted).
@@alexandrakritzman938 Hi! I've only ever had one furbaby at a time. But my last girl, Lula, was not friendly toward other cats. There was a kitten that showed up at my apartment in a horrible snowstorm...couldn't have been more than 4 months old, and my heart was breaking, so I let her in. Lula tried to kill her. I couldn't believe that MY sweet, loving baby (5 Y.O.) was that aggressive. She must have been incredibly jealous, but I couldn't let that poor kitten back out into that storm! So I put her in a separate room until I could get her to the shelter the next day. Lula hissed and mewled all night.
I do have several friends with 2, even 3 female cats, but they grew up together. You may have to keep them separate for a while. Jackson Galaxy (Animal Planet's "My Cat from Hell") has a You Tube channel that I'm sure will have a video on how to introduce two cats so they'll eventually get along.
Good Luck!!
S Collier thanks! Yes I’ve watched a bunch of his videos and we’re following his suggestions for introducing cats. On day five now and things seem to be going okay! Fingers crossed
I found my panther boy hiding in the woodpile inside my garage when he was 6(?) weeks old. Took several days and over a dozen cans of kitten food to get him to come out of the pile when I was in the garage, and almost another week before he'd let me pick him up and take him inside. He doesn't let me go anywhere in the house without escorting me and giving the room a "security sweep" now, has his own car seat in my truck, loves to go for rides and if I don't take him with me will sit and sulk by the door till I come home.
My late cat was a playboy, my neighborhood full with kittens had the same collor as his... RIP Emon 🙏😭🙏
oh my- haha

I love it that you use the term ‘guardian’. No-one ‘owns’ a cat, they have staff! I hold a similar position to a handsome beige tabby, and feel very honoured!
@@chrisberry7712 i really can't relate each time ppl says that. My cats listen to me without even needing to be train t do so... they know when i'm angry and go away from like, going on the table or things.
And i had 11 of them.
I’ve adopted both and both have been very loving and amazing. Right now I have a little 8 month old girl and she loves to snuggle, play, and follow me around 💗 had a boy and a girl before that and they were both great cats that loved us very much. Cats are such great companions!
I've always had male cats and find them much friendlier and loving than female cats. Of the 4 males I've had only 2 even wanted to go outside and none of them were door dashers. None of them were needy, just a very loving companion/friend.
I have been looking for a cat for two years... Here there are really no cats to adopt... but... I just found out my friend's cat had four kittens this morning... so... maybe I will take two of them... It's so nice for a cat to have a companion... I have owned 57 cats in my life so far... I have rescued, and had most of them spayed or neutered when I lived in Spain for many years. There are thousands of unwanted cats there... But here on Vancouver Island it is extremely difficult to find one to adopt.
My cats are the opposite of every point you have addressed in this video!
This video was feminism disguised as science. I only have had male cats. But it didnt seem scientific. The dude is a man hating feminist.
@@RobertHurleyJr why is this feminism?
@@RobertHurleyJr Ahh yes as if the cat cared about feminism
I had a brother and sister from a litter. The girl follows me around the house and loves a fuss. Shes on edge when people enter the house and is extremely affectionate when I'm feeling down. We lost her brother after 13 years. He didnt fit the profile as much. He loved a fuss and was very obedient unlike his sister, we had a whistle wed make and he would come running. He was very chilled out and had cats in the neighbourhood he would hang out with in our back garden. He didn't have a nasty bone in his body.
My girl is super clingy and sweet towards me (always sleeps in my chest, purrs and follows me everywhere) and a demon with my boyfriend and my mom 😂😂. She literally slaps them in the face for just laying next to me.
my cat (male) is the most affectionate, i adopted him this summer and on the first day he enjoyed my company even though the shelter said he was scared and shy . Every night he hops in my (our) bed and kneads on me purring like crazy so I think that the personnality really depends on the cat itself but also the BREED. Cats are really the best though

I adopted a black female for my daughter 7 years ago and she's the best cat we've ever had!!
they say male cats tend to be agressive but my first ever cat is gentle even if he's a male cat
My friends boy cat is either under his table, or stalking a mouse toy
I say, if you're thinking of adopting another cat some years later, let that first cat be a male. This is based on personal experience. A neutered male cat is very accepting of a new cat (through the requisite "introduction process" of course . . . 🐱) in their house, where a spayed female is not, and may never get entirely used to the other cat. I've never had any instance where the older male cat didn't bond with the new kitten. However, many years ago, this female cat I had, she was never accepting of the younger cats that came into the house after her, although the male that was older than she was did bond with them.
Totally agree, my male cat was much more affectionate and stay- at-home than his sister who was more stand-offish and loved wondering, until she was catnapped by a neighbour, (she was returned after the RSPCA intervened).
I had a 5 year. old female and brought a 41/2 mo.male kitten home.Sh3 hissed at him once and after that taught him everything she knew about being a cat.He grew up to adore her as his "morher".When she died yrs. later he howled and mourned her for weeks. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen.💔💔💔
I don't know but for my female cats, this is true. They never get along.
@@alicesacco9329 I have never read about it; I have only seen personal instances, as well as with my dear cousin's cats, so that's why I mentioned it. I would really like to hear what a domestic-cat-behavioral-expert has to say why. The only thing I can think of is that female cats, even after they're spayed, are instinctually fiercely protective of their territory from "new" Interlopers because . . . they're female, they don't want any potential danger to their kittens. (They have no concept of being spayed.) Mind you, this is pure conjecture totally on my part. 🐱
My cat Jasmine is a good girl with the other cats she's lived with, who have all been boys. She taught them all how to hunt and she grooms them. She is a good mama, even though she's had no kittens of her own.
We made a choice year's ago that our cats are indoor only, they are still fixed we just feel it's safer. We do plan on getting a catio to give Tyrael the outside feel while being safe.
yeah i dont understand why people let there cats outside, its just wrong as an owner as they live half of what there suspost to live compared to indoors.
@@BERSERKERKINGREVIEWS I don't understand how can people lock a cat in a house for 15-20 years. It's cruel. Some people live in extremely tiny homes. I tried it with my cat, he became depressed, fat and peed on the walls. He is 11 years old now, happy and healthy like a kitten. He goes outside whenever he wants to. Also, I love my cat to death, but keeping sh*t (it smells way worse than dog poop) in your own home, near where you eat and sleep and having to scoop it out every day is soul crushing. If you live in America for example where bears, wolves or even birds come into your garden and every crazy person can get a gun, or near a busy road, I understand. BUT, other people have different circumstances. If you live in the proper environment, neuter the cat, let them come in the house and train them, it is perfectly fine to let them outside. Indoor cats, especially purebreds are very boring in my experience, they have no personality, just sit around all day and you can do whatever you want with them, like they were dolls. Many are fat or have behavioural problems.
My cats chose me I love them both and like kids have different personalities. Love all animals
