  • @troywhite8695

    The biggest thing about this trip is that he came home in 25:1 which is a fraction you rarely see and almost always in the first quarter.. and he was parked for the first quarter from the 7 hole in 26:0 ... just a BEAST performance

    • @davidmcgovern7663
      @davidmcgovern7663 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You are correct Troy. 25 1/5 on a non-rated engine...unbelievable. I have seen many of the great pacers of all time race at the MentalLands. Sulkies, surfaces, equipment, training and racing strategies have changed significantly over the decades. I saw Niatross dominate, I saw Always B. Miki dominate. And now I have seen Bulldog Hanover dominate. What makes this race so special is the fact that he took wind to a half in 53 and a fifth, I laugh at his Q3 "breather" being 27 2/5...but 25 and a fifth home???? That is insane even off a slow pace with a perfect trip. So...I used to think, all things being equal, Niatross would edge out "The Mick" for the greatest Pacer of all time...but after this race...Gotta give it to the Bulldog. Rushed up to lead at 1-5....drew away in 1:45 and 4/5. Now I think that mark will stand forever. But, I have thought that many times before. If you are a true harness fan and a Meadowlands history buff, watch some of those ancient vids from the late 70s, 80s and 90s. One way to do generational comparisons is to see how they dominated the competition of their era. When you watch horses like Somewheresomebeach, Mack Lobell, Nihalator, Nihatross...or even Whata Baron, one of the first great Engine horses that could draw away in the stretch. Check them out. 1:45 4/5 is just a crazy time that I would have NEVER believed could be clocked. 30 years ago.

      @@davidmcgovern7663 Still thinking Niatross is the greatest. Faster times through the ages is only natural. Niatross had the most heart imo. Nia and Clint went over the hubrail at Saratoga and came back unscathed. Bulldog is still fun to watch though.

    July 7th I told my buddy he's going to break the world record shortly after he went 1:46. This horse is 🔥. & May go even faster . I would love to see him at the red mile

    • @xfactor4598

      He could go 45 flat, maybe even go 1:44.3 on the red clay in Lexi. With Dexter in the sulky, and identical weather conditions, that is not out of the question considering BH is peaking at the right time.

    • @matthewmauran9453
      @matthewmauran9453 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xeno246 Sorry I strongly disagree! The Greatest Pacer ever is Somebeachsomewhere! Bulldog Hanover didn't do what The Beach did at 2 and 3 years old. Somebeachsomewhere lost one race in his whole career. He lost by a nose in a world record at that time. The Meadowlands was not as fast in 2008 as it is in 2022. The track is much faster q the turns are banked. The Meadowlands is more suited now for front end speed. It's just not Bulldog Hanover going faster. Lots of horses are going faster. We're seeing so many trotters going sub 1:50 more than ever. Pacers going in 1:49 is nothing anymore. Racebikes are better than what Somebeachsomewhere pulled. Meadowlands is much harder now and adding banking to the turns has increased speed. Somebeachsomewhere never raced at 4.. Besides on the racetrack Somebeachsomewhere kicked ass as a stallion he has 15 or more of his sons standing at Stud.

    • @xeno246
      @xeno246 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matthewmauran9453 you make excellent points and I can't really disagree with anything you said, Beach was out of this world. If he had of remained unbeaten I would agree with you even though his first half mile was so fast it was almost impossible for Beach to win that race. Comparing horses from different eras is never easy, so many different variables. For me Bulldog is the best for running those times 4 weeks in a row.
