    Brings back happy memories
    In the 80s I left the UK to work in SA. My first job was at Hoedspruit, and I was living on my own a few km out of town
    The first night these sounds kept me awake. Not many crickets live in the UK and the street lights here keep everywhere quite bright. It was dark there and noisy too ... H E L P !

    Hello..firstly it's beautiful..The sounds makes me long for home...There is a sound made by some sort of animal maybe a bird usually in about 5 short whistling like bursts..but almost throughout..I really would love to know what makes this sound as i have been wondering for years. ..Its all over but at 17.29 17.34 17.39 18.01 18.06 18.13 very audible and so on it makes that distinct 5 intermittent high pitched whistle bursts..What can it be?? If you know i would really appreciate it..thank you..

      @DestinationAudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jean, thank you for your kind words, it's great to know that you enjoyed it. I found the consistent noise you are talking about, and I distinctly remember it often when we travel around the South African bush. It is an insect of some sort, but I wouldn't be able to tell you which one unfortunately. We tried to find them but struggled because they would stop making their noise when we got near.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi there again..Thank you very much for your reply..Yep the origin of what makes that 5 or so high pitched whistles remain a mystery.. I must admit on manier occasions when i lived in South Africa i stumbled into the bush in search of the creature that is repsonsible for that distinct sounds but it is very secretive as it got quite too as i got closer everytime, hmmm very elusive little character ... I am inclined to agree with you that it might be some sort of insect but what....The search continues..if i ever find it i will let you know as it is almost a bucketlist itch that needs scratching if you know what i mean.. Your very privileged to be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful sounds and nature in person.. I wish....
    Hearing the sounds of the African bush hits home and comforts some very homesick expatriates...Such is life..Thanks again
    Greetings
