I really appreciated the detail you went into, both with how you have improved as you have worked on different ornaments, and the tips you have given. Also seeing the ornaments in relation to your hand gives a better idea of how big they are. I really loved the cookies and the cardinal kit. You’ve done a great job on all of them.
As soon as I saw that Polly fil, I knew I did not want to use it for various reasons. so I thought there must be something more natural to use. I searched on Amazon and found that they make an all natural cotton fill for crafts. It’s got to be better than that stuff that’s not good for the environment., not Good for your pets and not good to get it scattered around your house whatsoever. So you might want to check that out. I just love these felt kits. They are absolutely adorable. thank you for showing them. I think I’m addicted. I have the panda with the donut and coffee pumpkin spice. Oh my gosh so adorable I can’t wait to make him or her. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thanks - now I'm going to have to try this as well! Ha. I really love cross-stitching. Then I discovered crochet - which I'm off on that tangent right now. I never knew about these kits and they are adorable. So many wonderful sewing opportunities. I will enjoy watching your progress. 😀
When I had stitches showing in the wrong colour, I was able to colour over them with a felt tip pen. You'd never know there was a mistake in the coloured thread now. you could test it out first on a scrap.
I enjoyed this video! I'll try to share photos of mine when I get started. It was nice to see how you've organized/a bit of in progress look at your kits. Helpful for when I get to pull mine out and start stitching!
I enjoyed seeing your finished and upcoming felt projects, Christine. I love the gingerbread cookies! These look like a fun alternative to cross-stitch, although my embroidery skills are verrrry rusty.
How fun! I had to go to the Herrschners website and look - the Easter ones are on sale right now so I bought a couple of those. Little Yellow House Crafts just posted some Christmas felt ornaments she finished. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed your video! I have a number of felt appliqué kits and you have inspired me to get them out and work on them. Love the sea life kit! Also the cat in the Halloween kit. Thanks for the inspiration❤️❤️
I got into this about the same time as you and am also a long time cross stitcher! I too see my technique improved after finishing couple of ornament kits. So far I have just one kit in my stash, we'll see how long that lasts!
The Ugly Sweaters, Gingerbread Houses (still need to sew those together) and currently the Cookies and Candy Wreath. Love your Gingerbread Cookies, that's on a wish list!
I have an unfinished Bucilla felt advent kit that I bought when my son was an infant. He is almost 10 now. I think I finished maybe 75-80% of it but I haven't worked on it in years. I should pull it out and work on it. Maybe I'll finish it before he is out of the house.
I love this.. and now I want to buy more kits.. but I need to finish all my other ones first! Question though.. around the 23:30 mark when you were showing the adorable starfish.. how did you cut them so perfectly so that the front and back are perfectly lined up? Do you have a tip for that?
Hey there! I made those awhile ago but I don't think I did anything special while cutting them out other than going slow and careful just inside the lines. I think I had to turn the pieces around a few times to make sure I was lining up the correct "star points" until the matches up. I think one of them has a little bump on it, so that helped. I feel like it was a bit like fitting puzzle pieces together ☺️
@@shaunascarborough379 Thank you! I do know for sure that I didn't cut them out together because that doesn't work out well at all( ask me how I know🤣) I think I tried that with a different piece and the pieces move too much when cutting them together, even when pinned. So I know not to do that 😁
I’ve always wanted to do wool appliqué. Bought a Christmas one but don’t want to work on at the moment. Am going to look for a different one that not holiday themed .
@@calico_whimsy you are so welcome =) I have one too , I bought it along time ago but never used it . then one day last april I wanted to use it and tried to look for it . I literally tore my craft room apart looking for it . but it has eluded me . later that night , i said its not going to beat me . I am going to find . So i went back into the place where I was sure it was and there it was hiding on me the whole , It was april fools day. LOL
@@calico_whimsy thanks for the laugh . well I did a big accomplishment today . I bought a felt stocking kit years ago . it sat there and sat there . So I took it apart thinking I can't do this . well I still had the base backing and today I reconstructed all the pattern pieces myself ( as i threw away the paper pattern yrs ago) and now I am going to make it . LOL
Don't let that stop you!! Just get a kit and give it a try! If you can thread a needle and tie a knot in the thread, you can make these with the help of a few basic sewing TH-cam videos 😊 you can do it!!

I love the vintage halloween kit!!! So so cute. I need to find that handy tool for making the twisted cording.
It's called the Kreinik corder. They have it on Amazon 👍 it's great!
