    Just bought a TC 400. We run two 1411 NH and a JD MoCo 920 through everything from rye to grass hay, alfalfa, and even corn stalks. I am very impressed with the Krone and hopeful it is all I imagined it would be. Thanks for the video and love the channel.

    Just an idea... for your farming model, sell the JD mower, get a Big M. Keep the Case for now as a spare, and hang on to the 4960, stick one of these Krone pull types behind it. The 4960 mainly on the Krone, less hrs... , but as 2nd machine.. both should last a long time, the Case as 3rd place, should last a lifetime. Lease the Big M, trade every couple yrs and it does 90% of the work but stays new. Purchase the Krone pull type, the 4960 is paid for. The Case is also paid for but is getting up there in hours.

    We have a krone easycut 3200cv, a lot smaller than the movers you would look at, but we love it. It's a great mower, especially up here in NH, the granite state, I swear we farm rocks... The mower is super reliable and can handle the occasional ledge out crop (we try to avoid them but occasionally you might hit one) and the mower chugs right along. I also love how I can change the blades with a simple tool, no more socket and screw driver. We had a Kuhn GMD before, and still have it, that mower was really good, so we looked long and hard at Kuhn, and it just seemed like the technology, and build quality lacked that of the Krone. Plus the trailed krone seems to follow the contours a lot better than the Krone due to the design. All in all a great machine!

    Road transport is always an issue around my area. Most fields are off single track roads that are 12-14 foot on a good day. Toss a small bridge in there and you're done if your any wider that that. See a lot of custom outfits who add hitches to the power unit and pull a header trailer behind them to fit the roads. The Amish farm had a custom crew come in last year, he had a lot of corn out and trying to handle that with a horse drawn unit just wasn't going to work.

    Our John Deere 835 MoCo does really good for us. We bought it brand new. Here in a few years we are going to trade it off for a new 835 with the 2 point hitch and the large tires. 2 point hitch you can turn much sharper than the drawbar one that we have.

    • @chevyon37s
      @chevyon37s 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      iowadairyboys I absolutely love our 835 with the 2pt hitch. With a quick attach system on the tractor's 3pt it's much faster to hook up and throwing it off either side of the tractor makes for much easier taking than our old 935 was.

    • @iowadairyboysFarms
      @iowadairyboysFarms 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep that's what are going to do when we get the 2 pt one.

    We have had a tc400 for two years. Great mower and the safe cut is second to none. It saved our mower when I hit a big rock. It would have destroyed our Vermeer mower, sorry lely cutterbar fans but their design isn't in the same league. I know this because I have rebuilt the Vermeer three times already at countless hours a piece by the time you drop the cutterbar out and completely dismantle it. It has cut a lot of acres but they weren't trouble free. We have rebuilt the clutch several times also. On the krone, we don't use the end wise transport too much because we don't road travel a lot but if you did drive down the narrow county roads, I don't know why you would buy another brand. It makes it a lot easier to get into narrow gates, sheds and makes going down the road a breeze. No more looking back behind you anymore. It is a little more power hungry than our Vermeer but when you look at the two side by side, you'll know why. The krone is a lot heavier/stronger built. I can also mow faster without bogging the mower down.

    Krone and John Deere need to pay you for your testimonials on their machines. I've been watching for several years now and you have been more satisfied with the Krone baler and the John Deere wind-rower than I've ever heard from you. I'm glad they are doing a good job for you and that you are really satisfied with them. Once again, I can't wait to see Theresa spreading lime. :)

  • @hzgts308

    Krone's solid bars were an absolute bastard. The mower did an unreal job, while it worked but it was all over when it chewed up a few gears after hitting a rock. Switched to a New Holland. Has had it's issues but at least the cutter bar drops out completely in 5 minutes and the turtles are all independent replaceable modules. New Holland shat it's main uni's and did the gearbox at the end of the last season. Not sure what to get now... The Massey / Hesston looks interesting.

    • @onelonleyfarmer
      @onelonleyfarmer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the Krone has changed the way the cutter bar is protected and i do not think you will have the issues you did in the past. i know they where not as good as some of the competitors but they have raised the bar for sure now.

    MacDon makes a pull type mower with the same transport method, not sure if they sell them in you area or what your thoughts are on them. They are made in Manitoba Canada, where I am from and lots of people use them and really like them. They are sold world wide, but if there is no close dealer then that wouldn't be the greatest for you.

    This design has been around for at least 20 years now, in europe at least. The krone Easicut 6210 uses a much better wheel system than the mower in the video, There are also many others like the Kuhn alterna

      Although I will correct myself, the mower in the video is somewhat different and does allow more possibilities for maneuvering into tight spaces since it swings hydraulically

      i have no experience with trailed mowers but i know krone Big Ms gaves serious bother in northern ireland you hit a stone bang they were broke and of course Krone did a good job and fixed it they some best moweres out there nothing mows like it although john deeres were popular in northern ireland as you said they seem to be very active and try their best to improve their products and yes you get what you paid for is right better spending little extra and getting something reliable than going cheap and buying a pill alot dont understand this

    Second time - What about a 7 rotor disc mower one the front of a 7530 sized machine and a 8 rotor three point hitch disc mower on a KMC disc mower caddy with a hydraulic swing tongue to offset to the right so the front and rear cutters overlap 4" or so ? NO conditioners +but mulch does not matter All three pieces lees than 35K and narrow and durable with wider cut. Yes lime green is good

    In Germany every machine has a transport position that´s not wider than 3 metres (I think that are 9 feet) because our roads are very small. Every machine that´s wider than 3 metres is not allowed to drive on german roads (Just harvesters with beacon lights on the top and a special license have special rights). That´s why Krone is building such a technology. I think, that this feature of the machine isn´t important for americans, or?

    • @lukestrawwalker
      @lukestrawwalker 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the area of the US... Up in the northeast where OLF is, the roads are narrow and winding, turns are tight, and he's up to his gazoo in neighbors and city idiots running around that have NO clue how to drive around farm machinery. Throw in small field sizes and narrow gates, and you have much the same need you're talking about in Germany.
      Go out west, to the Midwest, or other more "rural" parts of the country where the roads are wider, fields are bigger, and less people/traffic to deal with, and there would be little need for this lengthwise transport arrangement.
      Later! OL J R :)

    Hey Wes!
    Machinery hacker/breaker/repairer since I was 10-11yrs old here talking (53 now though.... sometimes I work around them, or with them, but too often not. Although I'd wish to do only that rather than only being able to send my ideas from a keyboard.... but if it helps)
    How would it fit your needs if you were able to hook/unhook the mower-head with a quick-attach (hydro-quick included in the operation) and then simply haul it on a trailer behind the mower? (I really do not like the idea of you spending half a million on a folding mower, when maybe just a $2500 "hack" and 10min of time attaching/detaching on each field-switching might do the job) (I rather see you travelling and living, than worrying about how much hay you need to make for the enjoyment of dealers/banks/etc) You've been able to do what many can't even do and forced into selling everything including their freedom. Don't get side-tracked. I so much LOVE that UK deals you made (MachineryPete maybe can even help you sell those "butcher-table" tractors you have).... ok I'm side-tracking here and had a few beers already so... (but I'm switching engine on a garden-tractor while watching you and "That Chipper Guy" and keep an eye on my Dog etc....)
    btw: This new Kröne side-way support thing would have been great 30yrs ago on a 12' wide rig in my region. But, with so many options with 3point-hitch etc.... This is a bit lame, not bad, but yeah (You know) Whatever fits the needs of whatever that particular farmer's needs is fine with me. Each their own as I always say. No one has the same needs ;)
