    Just goes to show you that with a good neck, tuning machines, pickups and bridge and saddle, the rest is totally optional. What a gorgeous instrument!

    Awesome. A rare example of the double humbucking Tobaccecaster.
    I like that box, and I do enjoy a Monte Cristo cigar.

    Oh, man! That little guitar is just plain gorgeous! It's got class, looks and a great sound. And, contrary to what some may think... I love the fact that it's a 6 string. Great work and great playing!

    Great build, finish beautiful. Sound excellent. I don't pick at original builds. Creativity bothers some people. Don't change a thing and don't listen to people who can't think out of the box. That's what it is all about. Being an individual. Thanks for sharing.

    Looks like a balalaika, a Russian folk instrument. Their bodies are kinda triangular, and come in both three string and six string varieties. Great job! As I get further interested in "cigar box" instruments, I'm learning more about other traditional folk instruments.

    Exceptionally cool and extremely well done. It' sounds great too and it's a work of art. The only very minor thing that sticks in the back of my mind is that you've made such a fancy guitar that it's really not very much in the tradtion of cigar box guitars which, after all, were almost always very basic, made out of necessity and with materials found lying around. But who cares? I think of this as a different type of homemade guitar that's based on classic guitar box guitars but no longer in their class. It's taking a very simple thing that's most iconic and important characterist is it's simplicity and making it fancy. It's no longer really a cigar box guitar, IMO, but that makes no difference at all. What's important is that it's REALLY neat and you did a great job making it. That's something I would love to own and play. Really beautiful. I do have the skills to make such a guitar and you've given me some ideas. Thanks for posting this.

      it is just pre built neck off a cheap guitar attached to a box ! ! Yes it looks pretty good and sounds pretty good but any guitar will sound pretty good if played through a decent amp . I don't want to knock what this guy did but pretty much anyone could build this it doesn't require any special skills. it isn't a custom built instrument built by a skilled luthier. Let's call it what it is a nice effort by a amatuer. Nothing more .i guess most people are just easily impressed.

    No non-amplified acoustic playing? I hate to say it, but with all the effort put into the soundholes (4!), I'd hope they'd be more than decorative. Good thick wood cigar boxes are desirable for being sturdy and durable, but cigar box cardboard makes for suprisingly good soundboards, at least while they last. (This is secret cigar box guitar knowledge. Sh! Don't tell!) Who would have known heavy cardboard and particle board make for good "tonewood"? -Maybe I'm a little jealous of the "coolest CBG in the world". Please don't take this as criticism.

  • @gregmartin1757
    @gregmartin1757 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All kinds of high praise by people in the comments? All you really did was attach a premade guitar neck that came off a cheap second rate guitar to a box ! That doesn't really take any special skills. if you can't build your own neck,do the fret work, etc.you are hardly a skilled luthier. Not knocking what you did .decent enough amatuer effort. Just wondering why so many people seem to be overly impressed by something pretty much anyone could accomplish.this guy has delusions of grandeur because i see he has this listed on ebay, reverb. for $4,000.00 . That is how i found this video. For that $ you can buy a les paul or a strat+tele + nice amp.he'll be waiting years till he finds the 1 person in the world stupid enough to pay that for a amatuer built instrument that is nothing but a B grade neck attached to a box. Realistically it is worth maybe $200.00
    On a good day at best.

Not taking anything away from the craftsmanship, just saying it's not even remotely a cigar box guitar.
