When you go to London during your stay in England, a nice place to visit is Leigh-On-Sea its a nice area with lots of local businesses, its about a 45 ish minute train ride from London and is very pretty :)

To be honest, I find most UK cities easily walkable and they’re also very public transport friendly.
I’ve done London, Bath, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham, North and currently West Wales (as a uni student and now working adult who has to move around for her job) and all that’s without a car! Highly recommend visiting Wales while you’re here but I’m a little biased :)

I’m from Birmingham U.K. and got so bored of working and living here so two months ago I moved to Lisbon with no plan, no job and only one friend. I have a job now but it’s so nice to have a change of scenery and learn a new language and culture!

You should definitely hop on the train to Bristol, it's amazing for foodies. Or come over to Wales. Cardiff Castle is in walking distance of the train station, the central market is worth a visit for great food, and you can say you've visited two of the countries in Britain 😊

  • @NaomiHoefs

I think you would like The Netherlands. Not just Amsterdam because its quit big. You could go for a city like Utrecht which connects to Belgium and Germany pretty well.
    Also, everybody speaks English here!
Same goes for the Scandinavian countries. And the food adventures there would also be amazing.

I think you should go to Bristol or Weston Super Mare UK. Bristol is a beautiful city with loads of shops and restaurants. In Bristol, there is a christmas market going on with loads of food and games. The food is multicultural such as german food. There are Yorkshire pudding wraps and i suggest you try it. Soo good. However, Weston is a small town but there are a few places in weston to go to. Check it out!

It's really cool you came here! I love the idea of staying abroad or even just in a city away from home for a long term holiday. And even though our language is the same the culture and climate are very different from what you're used to and it's really far from home so I'm impressed you did it. If you get chance or possibly on a future holiday I'd love if you could go see the coasts in Wales, specifically the south, since Wales is one of the most beautiful places in the world to me. As for cities Cardiff while being the capital city of Wales isn't super big and it is fairly walkable and lots of Wales is accessible through public transport from there.

  • @gcmknowles

I think you should stay in Oxford next time. It’s right in the Cotswolds and central to many cities both big and small and areas of attraction. Many are accessible by public transportation or walking. It’s a university town surrounded by a beautiful countryside. Go in the early summer and visit Stratford Upon Avon, Banbury, Blenheim Palace, etc. Take a day trip to Cambridge, London, Cardiff (Wales), Birmingham; a weekend trip to Liverpool (Beatles), Bournemouth; or a week in Glasgow and Edinburg in Scotland. If you can, schedule Ireland in, too. So much history and lots to see and do every weekend. Loved it!!! We were stationed here for 4 years and took advantage of traveling all over the UK. Travel as much and as far away while you’re still young and able to. Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch wherever you go to help save on expenses. Bon Voyage!!!

Thanks for the little tour around- I visited Bath only once when I lived in London in the 90s, and I mainly remember the big ticket tourist sites- Royal Crescent and the actual Roman baths.
While you're there, I suggest a visit to Cardiff, Wales. Not too far for a day trip and an interesting place. Not sure what food scene is like.

Defiently Brighton and hove in Sussex England I live there and it is abit smaller than bath but there is a direct motorway and train to London+next to the sea and has tons of walks in the countryside, it is surrounded by small villages like poundings or hurstpierpoint. There is also a good city centre and has loads of good food especiallly seafood. Brighton is also known for its diversity and trendiness

Great Malvern is a beautiful little town to stay in with direct route into Birmingham which is the second city of the UK. You can also easily get to other beautiful little villages and towns in the West Midlands. Best of all its in the Malvern Hills which is another area of outstanding natural beauty 🤩 I've already looked at Airbnbs for a weekend getaway before and some of the views out of the windows are amazing

As cities go, Bath is a good one. St David's is my favourite. Its in Wales and is the smallest city in the UK.
Try visiting Lacock while you're here. It's a small village where loads of films have been made (harry potter has Hogwarts shots in the Abbey)
Its also got tea rooms, good pubs and nice walks

A bit of trivia… Her Majesty is the owner of all the swans in England!!
Make sure when you go to London you take double decker buses. When I went we stuck to the Tube and didn’t get a good view of the city. And you should spend time in Dublin!! The Irish love us Yanks!! I can direct you to my uncles farm on the West Coast just down from the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. It’s been in our family for almost 100 years!

Birmingham, it's nice and central. You can get to most cities via train and as for day trips you have Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Worcester all again train away.
There's also places accessible by bus, so even if you stay outside of Birmingham our bus system is OK.
Birmingham gets a bad rep. But honestly it has some beautiful places to see. We are the second city of England after all, though Manchester likes to think they are 😒.

Maybe try Düsseldorf in Germany (I've enjoyed every time came back)
You could try Berlin our capital all thou i have to say I've been there 6 times for a week or so and only explored 0.5 % but there is a high chance that people speak more English than German.
Or some smaller citys in Bayern if you'd like to have the tourist "german" experience and no front to bayrish people but even i as a german dont understand them very well so thats a fair share of problems.
I also recommend my hometown Kassel we have a lot of history and in 2022 is a large Art festival that is The Documenta. (IF you're into art it's pretty cool... coming from an art Student hehe) We also have a DDR Restaurant if you're interested in that kind of food. All in all german citys are ok... to me... and I've lived here my whole 17 years of existence. But you have to enjoy them yourself and please when you visit Germany wherever you are... ask for a real Currywurst i like your food around the world series but even as a vegan that Currywurst video broke my german heart
