I thought about warning you about this but it’s funnier when you go in blind. There’s a bunch of extra stuff about the video, different things that you don’t necessarily hear on your first watch, I’d suggest checking out Mortius and his reaction/analysis and interview with Marwan. A lot of behind the scenes information. Now to watch the rest of them.
Oh I was cracking up when you heard Jonathan's rock god belts, especially "let's go" and "centuries". I knew it was coming and your reaction was perfect!
This was my favorite Bass Gang song until their collab with Tim Foust knocked it out of my top spot. I was just waiting for you to get to that "Let's Go!" and fall off your chair, and you did not disappoint!
You make me so happy! The world around me is literally burning, I spent the day breathing in smoke and ash trying to find accommodations for evacuees, and this is what I came home to! Love you, my friend, thank you for this! ❤
@@AndieO Thank you ❤️! We need 🌧️🌧️🌧️ desperately, a nice solid week of it, there are over 75 wildfires burning in our area, close to half of those are out of control. Trying to get evacuees to safety and firefighters from out of province/country is a nightmare logistically. It's satisfying, being able to contribute and assist is fantastic, but the stress, lack of sleep, and emotional uncertainty are exhausting on a level I haven't experienced in a very long time.
This was such a fun reaction, love it. I think there is one of the fabulous talents out there and that is Avi Kaplan. His solo work is magical and I just know you'd love him. Also Tomi did an unholy version of Unholy that you'd enjoy
I'm amazed at the Bass Gang as I've not heard much of them yet. Jonathan is awesome, even though I'm more into his covers than his original music, and I feel bad about that. Please do more of the Bass Gang songs, and you might look into Jonathan Young's "Evermore" from Beauty and the Beast. He found a house to sing it in that has the most incredible acoustics, as if he didn't already sound incredible
I love JoYo's originals but it was this cover that originally introduced him to me and I definitely have a soft spot for "Evermore"! That was the first "ballad" if you will that I heard him sing and that deep, ballad voice just blew me away - really gave me goosebumps. I also love the cover he's done with Violet Orlandi of "Don't Fear The Reaper" (on her channel). It's such a soft and gentle JoYo that I hadn't heard before - then when he lets rip at the end it has a much greater impact!
@@tarynkirchen5961 Don't remember how I stumbled upon it but they've done a couple of covers together. She has an unusual voice - pretty deep for a woman - but I really like it. I've found quite a few covers that JoYo has done with others on their channels rather than his own. I've never heard a good cover of the song until I found this one but I think this is up there with the original - and being an old bird who remembers the original that's saying something! 😄 This is on Violet's channel. Let me know what you think 🙂
@@deniblackmore2179 I am really liking this (and I remember the original as well 😸). It's even more gentle than his TT version of "I See the Light". Thank you soo so much! 🥰
@@tarynkirchen5961 My pleasure - glad you're enjoying it. 🙂 It was quite a surprise to hear just how gentle he can be. I thought the TT "I See The Light" was gentle (and so funny - those facial expressions from both of them 🤣) but yes this is even more so. I'm loving the variation of vocal styles he utilises and I'm totally hooked now! ☺ EDIT - for another fun cover; on annapantsu's channel there's a version of "It's Raining Men" where she's joined by Jon and Caleb. To hear Jon's rough rock vocals growling "it's raining men, hallelujah" just cracks me up" x
I’m pretty sure Marwan was 19 when this song was recorded, so he doesn’t (yet) have the kind of training the older members have. Also, this is kind of terrifying, right, because *can you imagine* the notes he’s going to be able to hit as his voice deepens with age? We’re going to need an excavator to find them.
As usual, a great reaction. A few things that you hit on that I wanted to comment on. I’m pretty sure that first time you paused and wanted to check out who was doing that really really deep rich bass, I’m pretty sure it’s Marwan. There is a quality to his voice that’s very unusual. I know that Peter is an opera singer, and just got to perform the lead in Don Giovanni for a local company. I’m not sure about Bobby but I suspect you’re correct. They each really open their mouth to get that round rich tone at certain times and they are extremely concise in their pronunciation. I am guessing that both of those items are very important in opera. I am always astounded that these basses can also sing so high. I imagine it’s harder for a tenor to go low. Marwan has a series on TikTok and also in TH-cam shorts where he does what I think it’s called a buildup. He shows himself recording 6, 8, 10 different parts of a song and at the end adds the lead and puts it together. He does the bassline, the lead bass, the tenor, background, the beatboxing, and then the final lead. You really get a picture of just how versatile these guys are. Tomi has a few also but Marwan are the ones I first spotted and I believe he does up to a dozen different parts. It’s like he’s his own group. I was waiting during the whole reaction to see your face when Jonathan really let loose. 😂 He may not be a member of the Bass Gang, but he’s got some amazing range of his own. Glad to see you’re out of your onesie and apparently feeling better but continue taking good care of yourself.
The Bass Gang is one of the best groups out there. I love them and their creativity and talent. 🙂 I'm so happy that you're exploring their rabbit hole. 🙂 See you next time.
You know who else is a cool a capella group who didn't meet until well into their collaboration? Accent. All also extremely talented singly, but together they're awesome. Not your usual genre, but I think you'll like 'em. Jazz in the style of Take 6, if you're familiar with them.
I've been looking forward to your reaction to this! I love watching your enthusiasm and amazement, and this was a really good video for all that good stuff 🙂 Have an excellent day!
You used all the adjectives I can think of to explain the rising talents of the Bass Gang, so all I'll just voice in the current jargon to say, they killed it. Nice reaction, DJ.
Okay, after that, we definitely, definitely need to recommend Just Sing for the Voiceplay reactions. If you watch it, you have to turn on the captions.
So glad you finally did this! 👍 Brilliant reaction and just what I expected. Your facial expressions are priceless and I loved how you were just too befuddled to even pause and speak towards the end as they all went off in various ways. Love the Bass Gang and JoYo and really hope they collaborate again - pretty please, guys?? 🙏 I felt exactly the same when I first heard it. That was actually my first introduction to JoYo and I'm hooked on his voice now. If your into your rock and metal check out some of his original work. His covers are amazing but his own songwriting and delivery of those songs is incredible as well. Would love to see you react to them as it's usually his covers that reactors pick and quite rare for them to pick up on his originals - in fact, I can only think of one, from the reactors I follow, that have ever reacted to an original and then only once. (What It Do Dave reacting to "Old Money" - which is a belter!)
Great reaction DJ. Didn't really know this song (original or this version) so it was nice to watch it and get to know a combination of artists I don't know well. Well done Patrons for picking this song! 💗
You should really listen to their cover of Bury a Friend -super creepy but super good. Followed by a close second of Therefore I Am. I'm not a Billie Elish fan, but TBG did a great job with them both! I enjoyed their "older " stuff better than the newer releases with the collaborators. 🤷♀️
I see you really like acapella have you reacted to the only acapella metal band? They are called Van Canto and they do covers of metal songs plus originals. I recommend starting with Falling Down as that is the best song to start with especially because it features the best version of the band. 1 drummer, 4 "mimics" (that is what they call the singers that imitate the instruments) and 3 lead singers. There is Inga the lead female singer + piano vocals, Sly the lead male singer from their first album until Trust In Rust where Hagen took over as lead male singer. However Sly returned with their album To The Power Of Eight and now Hagen does more growls when a song calls for it.
Thank you so much for the reaction, DJ!
Thanks heaps for checking out my reaction guys! I have a reaction to your version obmf Mad World coming as my next video :D
13:15 did you notice Peter’s E5 and Tomi’s E6 there? Honestly the most impressive part of the song
Peter is a pro opera singer... Funny thing, they all have notes in the clouds as well as in the the depths.
Peter is the opera singer, but each one of the Bass Gang is incredibly talented.
You need to see jonathon young’s “I see fire” and “Misty mountains” with colm and Peyton!!!!!!!!
_metal scream_ LET'S GOOOO
Can you believe that this group has never met each other in person!?!!? Amazing!!!!!
I thought about warning you about this but it’s funnier when you go in blind.

Huh, I didn't realize he had done a team up with them. Thanks for reacting to this!

This was arranged by Marwan, the 17 year old!
Great reaction, one of my favorite songs of The Bass Gang. They are excellent. Please check out Hellfire by Jonathan Young -- so much passion.
The Bass Gang rules!
And Marwan is extraordinaire.
You are so charming with your reactions, it's such a joy to see. 😊
Peter Barber has an amazing talent, he tends to steal the show. ❤
I love them all but for me bobby sticks out alot his tone is so smooth
Please do yellow flicker beat next it's my favorite bass gang song and it was arranged by Peter they do an amazing job 😸
He's done it already, here's a link to it!

Have you heard Jonathan Young's version of that with Lauren Babic? Very different to Tomi's - full out metal growling - but it's a belter!
