    Great video and advice about planting things to save them over the winter. Benjamin is just so darn cute and the joy in your voice when you see him is wonderful to hear!! Good to see Russell getting his paws dirty ;) I think the containers look good and the more you look at them I bet you will like them by the door. Love the bagpipe music for the pulling of the plants for sure!!!

    Love your videos love those urns by your French doors and I especially love that you are willing to share Benjamin with everyone just a little bit. He looks like he is the happiest baby and the two of you as parents look like the model that all parents should follow.

    I love the cone boxwoods at the front door, I don't think they look too small. Eventually you could get a second light to balance things out, for now it doesn't look bad. Benjamin just gets more and more adorable, and he is growing so fast. Russell is such a kitty, pretty funny he was digging in your pot in the dirt, I love his feet so cute like mittens. Loved this video, gives me some ideas that I can incorporate into my own yard and landscape. Thank you again Laura for sharing, have a wonderful day with Benjamin and Aaron.

    I think the cone boxwoods near the front door look great! They may seem small to you, but the other ones were way too big and look much better in the square containers. That's funny about the light! I think it's fine though. You could put a house number sign or a decorative art piece or swag there to balance things out. It would probably be more economical than getting an electrician in to wire in a new light.

    The boxwood near the front door is beautiful you really don't need to move them during Christmas you can decorate them with lights. Benjamin is so adorable sweet. And Russell had me 😁 he was having a great time.

    Those topiaries looks so pretty way better than those humangous pots. You can just add the other light on top but you don't need to hook it up with wires, nobody will tell the difference if its wired or not. And I'm sure you dont need the light up there since you didnt even notice it till now. It will be perfect balance and problem solved.

    The "purple heart" or "wandering jew" is very very winter hardy. It'll die all the way back to the ground & come back vigorously in the spring. It's a spreader too! Makes a good ground cover or bed filler. They have really pretty pink heart shaped flowers that the bees also love!! I planted mine with sweet potato vines & they've intermixed with each other & it's so pretty!!

    • @raybennett5109
      @raybennett5109 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Setcreasea (pronounced set-Crease-ee-uh), or Purple Heart or Wandering Jew : I live in Dallas (zone 8) and mine wither and die back to the ground after the first couple of freezes, but they do come back in the spring (and so do my Creeping Jenny). I’ve got a bed in full shade and they love it, but I have some in sunnier spots and they do just as fine there. They are covered in honey bees summer mornings. And they are super easy to propagate. Simply break off a runner and stick it in the ground, literally. No rooting, no soil amending, just make a small hole with a stick and shove it in. It’ll sit there the first season, but next one you’ll have a small bush from one little runner. And I don’t think the runners root, so they’ll spread, but are easily controlled. They’re not gorgeous plants, but they’re super easy to grow.

    • @RLSCS
      @RLSCS 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ray Bennett, I love the unique structure and deep purple colour of the Purple Heart. Even if it didn't bloom it would still look gorgeous to me but the little pink flowers are an added bonus. 💜

    • @Candylandavenue1
      @Candylandavenue1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in Fort hood texas zone 8!! We are about 2 hours apart!! Same with my wandering jew, it's in mostly shade & it does well. I have to trim them often to keep them maintained but they're such an easy plant!

    • @greenthumbelina7331
      @greenthumbelina7331 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Purple Heart or "Wandering Jew" is not hardy in Laura's zone 5, so it needs to be used as an annual outside however it makes a wonderful house plant! The USDA Hardiness Zone: 7 - 11 for these plants! It's not hardy in my area either.

    • @kellypywtorak5166
      @kellypywtorak5166 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can water propagate cuttings of Purple Heart indoors and they’re more greenish and lighter purple in low light conditions.

    I think I would paint the large containers that you just removed from the double doors. Painting them a grey color with a white wash would help hide some of those hard water stains a little better. It's just a thought, they seem like such a great container especially if you're looking for height.

    The new planters by the door look great...With regards to the light fixture, if you were to hang something that was approximately the same size and tone in colour it would trick your eye/mind into seeing symmetry. Regarding the missing lamp. It's hard, I know, but maybe you could try something asymetric there? Symetry is pleasing, yes. But a lot of things are cozy and quaint exactly because they are not perfectly symetrical. Same goes for the entrance with the AC unit. Lean into the asymetry sometimes, and see if you can do something that maybe is out of your comfort zone, but is different and chalenging and therefor, in the end, more satisfying. Just an idea :) Green Love 💚

    I love the arborvitae in the new pots and the arrangements you surrounded them with and also the boxwoods by the doors. The single light would drive me nuts, too! We're supposed to drop to 43 degrees this afternoon and a first frost tonight (Upstate New York) so I'm afraid I'm going to lose my coleus, too. I was able to plant my 50 tulip bulbs and 30 allium on Sunday. I still need to get my garlic in, but unlike your area, we've had a ton of rain and warmer temps lately. I also want to say that I have learned so much since finding your channel and have received so many compliments on my garden this year. Keep it up! Russell and those paws. Too funny! And, Benjamin. . . .such a cutie pie!

    Try putting them on a pedestal. I think they would look good that way

    I LOVE FALL! Those urns are two of my favorite containers. The violas planted with the boxwood cones look so sweet in them. I do think that the urns are too small to use there unless you put something larger (another pot?) with them. Definitely need the second light. How HAD you missed that all this time? Lol. The Rose of Sharons are going to be great where you put them. It was nice to see Benjamin and Aaron. Baby boy is REALLY growing! Russell is funny. He thinks he's SUPPOSED to be where you're working! Thanks for another great video. God bless you & your family. 💜

    To remedy the height problem with the boxwoods have Aaron build you wooden boxes to the proper scale and paint them to match the containers. Mount the containers on the boxes and they will be the perfect size!

    This was great, a little bit of everything! The arborvitae look great in the square pots. I thought, how is she going to fit those giant cabbage in there. And then you did! I should have known better. I think the one light would end up bugging me as well. If you end up getting a second one installed I would suggest going with larger fixtures! Maybe some company would love to send you two new ones. 😄

    i think the boxwoods look really nice by the door. you can always put something under to elevate them a bit, if they seem too short :)
