Kudos Amen Confession of sins A lover of self cannot repent because he loves himself too much to take up the cross. He has no sin conscience to offer any old testament sacrifice (Heb 10:2); but also no sin conscience to repent under the new testament too. He can only think of the pleasure, the good things, and the righteousness of himself all the time: 2Ti 3:1-7 KJV This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Confessing our sins (1 Jn 1:9) is one of the self-examinations for every believer; not just for agnostic, gnostic, or lukewarm believers. But we know that most lovers of selves cannot confess their sins. Only the true believers can confess their sins. Why do we the believers confess our sins? Do we need to do it to be forgiven? Certainly yes; or else 1 Jn 1:9 would not say, "IF we confess .., He will forgive .." It means that the reverse is true also: IF we do not confess, He will not forgive too. But do we think that God is so shallow as to forgive anyone because of their verbal confession done like the Pharisees' too? No, confess means 'homologeo' in Greeks which could mean admit, assent, agree, or acknowledge, and doing it must come from an attitude of repentance too. Hence, 1Jn 1:9 is not about a chanting ritual of verbal confession until we are forgiven (or until we are sent to the mental hospital); but about a continuous on-going attitude of the heart with repentance. Recently we begin to hear many lovers of selves say that they 'believe' in the confession of sins too, but in reality they have only a form of godliness. They do not really confess their sins. If we probe further, we will realise that: 1. they do not repent and confess sins to be forgiven; 2. they will only 'change their minds and confess' sins to show that they are righteous and forgiven I think God will tell them, "If you have no more sin to confess or nothing to confess, please do not confess it. You can save it. It is meaningless to create any sin confession just for the sake of confession. Please don't do it just to show yourselves, others, or me that you are forgiven." No, God does not call the self-righteous to repentance or confession of sins. God calls us the true believers who are willing to repent to confess our sins; not those who always want to hide or 'ding dong' about their sins. God knows that when they always contradict themselves, they have no sincerity in their confession of sins. God knows that they won't confess their sins because they think that any preaching of repentance or confession of sin is a reminder of their sin and it will bring sin conscience and condemnation into their lives. Last time I thought only John the Baptist need to tell the Pharisees to repent and bring forth fruits meet for repentance. I thought this would never happen in our churches today. I thought that we should never reject any believer, sinner, or Pharisee who wants to confess their sins. But now I know why John had to reject the Pharisees and now I know why we may still need to tell some 'believers' to repent and bring forth fruits meet for repentance too: Mat 3:5-8 KJV Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, (6) And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. (7) But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? (8) Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
Hi to respond to Harmony Steel about Joseph Prince, I do not know his whole doctrine on sugar coated lies. Show me just one scripture that says "repent of your sins for your salvation", NOT ONE? Let me ask you a few questions on GRACE, what is Grace, who is Grace?, not Jesus Christ himself? The Old Testament how were their sins forgiven, once a year on the day of atonement? High Priest placed all the sins of the Jews on the goat and it was let into the wilderness. Did they Jews ask God every time they sinned, please forgive me for my sins, 20 times a day? Then continue weekly, then monthly, then yearly? Or did they believe that their sins were forgiven taken away once a year? If they only had to do it once a year with an imperfect sacrifice, Jesus did it once and for all, so why keep asking forgiveness every 15 minutes, hourly, daily, monthly, yearly and so on. Was Jesus sacrifice less than the animal sacrifices? Now what is salvation? Is it repenting from sin? If it is then we never needed a Saviour because salvation will depend on us. If salvation depended on our asking forgiveness on sin, then the moment of salvation we would have to die immediately without committing another sin. Now Jesus Christ came and his sacrifice was ONCE, he is coming back for his Church and not to deal with sin. SALVATION IS NEVER DEPENDING ON YOU ASKING FORGIVENESS FOR YOUR SINS. SALVATION IS 'REPENT" THIS WORD IS TO REPENT FROM UNBEL;IEVE TO BELIEVE IN GOD. TURN 180 from believing on other Gods than Jesus Christ. REPENTING IS FROM YOUR OWN BELIEFS AND YOUR OWN GODS, THEN TURN TO GOD AND BELIEVE YOU NEED SALVATION AND A SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST. AGAIN IS THERE ONE SCRIPTURE IN THE BIBLE THAT SAYS REPENT OF YOUR SINS FOR SALVATION?
amen!!!
Amen.
