I do mine a bit different. I brine my chicken for a couple of days. Get my grill Goin with charcoal and add strips of hickory to my charcoal charcoal and when it gets to flaming up good I've got my chicken on the grill and I shut the lid down and shut all vents and at 400 degrees let it cook until temp gets down to 300 and below and keep it there for 2 1/2 hours. Most beautiful chicken you'll ever see and delicious. I rub mine down with olive oil and kosher salt. You don't need any of seasoning. I spray mine with a mixing of lime juice salt and vinegar about every 30 minutes .been doing this for 40 years. You can't beat it. You're doing a great job. I think I've got you beat though. Thanks brother!
This is my favorite way to cook whole chicken. Yours looked delicious, moist, and with good color. Over the years I've cooked a lot of chickens... but that potato cork is brilliant! Nicely done. 👍
It’s always been a go-to in my household. My dad has been doing beer can chicken for probably 20 years! I stole the “cork” idea from him! Thanks for checking out the video! And thanks for the support!
Chicken on the smoker is fabulous! Fall off the bone tender and juicy as hell! Be on the lookout for one of my upcoming videos where I smoked some Chicken Lollipops! Thanks for the support brother!
Great looking chickens Andrew. This is my preferred way to cook whole birds. Easy, flavorful and moist… and nearly fool proof! Winner, winner, chicken dinner…
My dad made these all the time when I was a kid. This was the first time that I’ve had them since and man was I missing out!!!!! So freaking good! Thanks again for watching and for the support!
Those are some good looking birds Andrew! Sucklebusters clucking is supposed to be really good, uncle Steve’s I know is. That was a win win comparison. Awesome video brother! Stay safe and mostly sane!
That Clucker Dust is a very good seasoning! I used it on my lollipops yesterday and they turned out great! Thanks for the support brother! You as well!
@@coastemac there are quite a few claims that a beer can chicken doesn’t do anything “additional” to the chicken... I completely disagree and using a potato or onion in the neck helps lock in that moisture. Glad you and the family liked it!
First smoke with Sucklebusters and I absolutely loved it! That clucker dust is GOLD!!! Thanks for the support Ric, and congratulations on the 1000 subs!
Subbed. I have the same smoker, I can't say enough good things about it. I've made beer can chicken a few times and will be making it again tonight for company, it is some of the best chicken. I generally only go about 2 1/2 hours or so, whenever I get to 165º, but your chickens were pretty big. Nice video.
Hey, Big Steve… I’ve done this with soft drinks and wine. Like Andrew says, the taste is there, but subtle. DrPepper is good and for a citrus twist, Sprite or 7Up. Experimenting is half the fun… and the chicken is always moist and good at the end!
@@GrumpusOnFire Thx for the info,I like the Sprite or 7Up idea. I've also thought about orange juice or the marinade called Mojo. Either way its gonna be fun and eaten...😊👍
Awesome video! Thanks so much! Never knew about the potato plug. What a great idea. Would you be willing to share the name/brand/model number of your carving knife. Looks very well made.
Have you tried splitting the difference on temp and just going the whole time at 250? That’s the temp I smoke my spare ribs at, and for about the same amount of time. Tomorrow I’m going to do a beer can chicken and slab together to see how it turns out. Great video. Now I’m off to score some of that sucklebusters rub!
Excellent recipe !!! I plan to do it for tomorrow !!! Thanks for sharing the way you did it. I have a question What is the final internal temperature? Thank you!!!
Daniel you want to see 165F in the breasts. I actually just did another beer can chicken video a few weeks ago, they turned out great too! Check it out
I like your videos. Nice and simple. I'm actually using this recipe as we speak. One thing I wish , you didn't post the internal temperature that we were looking for.
Rich! The beer flavor is fairly faint, but you can taste it. What makes these special is how juicy the meat is. On top of the super juicy meat... cooking this is the smoked made this chicken fall of the bone tender! As you can see from the video it was difficult to move without it falling apart! Thanks again for watching and thanks for the support!
I’m in Ohio, just east of Cleveland! What area are you in? Just curious from the snow video making the kabobs ( which I just made for super bowl Sunday) turned out perfectly! Doing this chicken tomorrow😋
I worked in Mayfield for several years at what used to be Marshall Ford, now Nick Mayer🙄. Glad someone local is teaching me a LOT about smoking! Keep them coming! Love your videos.. turns out exactly like you make them.. kabobs.. about to start the beer can chicken here shortly..
The spoon you used to put the season inside the beer can is a table spoon not a teaspoon. Because a teaspoon is smaller than a table spoon. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything I was just letting you know. But your videos are helpful because I'm cooking my first beer can chicken next week
I know lol I have used them before... but apparently we only have a can opener that leaves the smooth edges on the can and it wouldn’t grip the beer can...Thanks for watching!
Ive had that same smoker for almost a year. Bout 2 weeks ago I was cooking ribs and about 2 hours into my cook I went to check on it and the temp had creepers up to 465{set at 250}. so I opened the door and it flamed up and singed my hair and the grill went into ErL more. I called Pitboss they sent me a new control panel. I installed it and it still immediately gives me the ErL error. won't even come on now. Any idea whats wrong with my smoker? This thing was too expensive to last less than a year?
Throwing in some of those lower temperatures will cause some longer cook times. I just did another beer can chicken video which was at a higher temp and faster. Check it out
@@AndersonsSmokeShow It usually does but this last chicken had too big a hole and I didn’t have potatoes so I plugged the hole with a lemon. That worked just fine and then smoked it in a vertical pit boss on a beer can like you did! Good stuff!
Miller Lite? Thought you were making Beer can chicken? Reminds me of a joke. 3 Beer company CEO's were having dinner at a convention, Anheuser-Busch, Molson-Coors, and Guinness. When asked what they'd like to drink, Anheuser-Busch said "We're having beer, so give me a Budweiser." Molson-Coors said "I'll have a Miller Lite". The Guinness CEO turned to the waitress and said "I'll have a Coke". The other two CEO's looked at him puzzled and asked why a coke? Guinness CEO looked back and said "Well, if neither of you are going to drink beer, then I won't either."

Yeah it’s a cuisenart grill lamp

Hi. I never cook this before, I was wondering what temp you are looking for the chicken to be done? Hope that makes sense 🙂
You want the internal temperature of the breast to reach 165F before removing it from the smoker or grill.
Excellent recipe !!! I plan to do it for tomorrow !!! Thanks for sharing the way you did it. I have a question What is the final internal temperature? Thank you!!!

Haha that’s not a bad problem to have! Thanks for watching and for the support!
Do you have ig
Yea! Check me out @andersons_smokeshow
What’s the reasoning for the potato?
To plug the neck to keep the moisture inside.
You know, a can opener will open the top and not leave sharp edges.
I know lol I have used them before... but apparently we only have a can opener that leaves the smooth edges on the can and it wouldn’t grip the beer can...Thanks for watching!
But i see what u did there with the potatoes
Using a potato or onion is key!
Lol that's a tablespoon you used to put the seasoning into the beer not a teaspoon.

@@AndersonsSmokeShow yes
I’m assuming that you told Pit Boss that the controller didn’t solve the problem? What did they say?
@@AndersonsSmokeShow haven't heard back from them yet.
Every cooking vid should start with a shotgunned beer.

U messed up you gotta season it first especially the hole too as well before putting the can up there
Idk how much difference that would've made, but I will try it next time!

Awesome!
It's better use a stainless steel container instead of a beer can because the beer can will release the fumes of the pain. That paint is toxic.
I just pull the chicken skin over the top and hold it with a toothpick
That may work too, but as it cooks I’m not sure if it’ll hold the seal
