I guess Mailchimp caught on to people who still have access to Classic sharing the link. Yes - Welcome Email through Audience Settings will work - but that's for everybody who signs up. The only option I can think of is to you use redirect to a web address in the landing page Send To settings. You can link directly to the lead magnet, or a web "Thank you" page with a link to download the lead magnet.

Hi Larry, thanks for this great tutorial, I have free MC plan which allows a one-step automation. I'm going to reiterate what I think you said: 1) Create & publish a MC landing page that gathers person's name & email address. 2) do I post landing page on social media or does person click on my social media post which takes them to my landing page? 3) automate MC welcome page that includes freebie downloadable file 4) now that I have their email addresses, I can other create mail campaigns to those who signed up. You are the only one that has successfully helped me. I had a journey set up to welcome new contacts. Will they receive the welcome email after this freebie or do I need to somehow add them to my initial welcome email?
Hello! Thanks for the question. Glad this video has helped. 😊 If you have a welcome email automation outside of the landing page freebie automation and they are new subscribers to your list then they should receive both the welcome email and the freebie/giveaway download email. In what order, depends on Mailchimp's servers. If they are already a subscriber they should only receive the freebie download email.
Thank you for this video. I was **this close** to cussing out the unhelpful MailChimp bot because their user guide is outdated and after hours of research I couldn't find this exact scenario of Landing Page+Automation+Tag+Freebie link.
Hi Larry this was a master explanation. I dont have access to the follow up emails. I have to upgrade first to enable this feature. What I did I added the buttom from the block section and went down to add the pdf link...by clicking link as option and it worked perfectly. I dont know how to thank you.

Hi Paul, thanks for your question. Yes, here is a video I did a couple of years ago to do the same lead magnet using Mailchimp's Customer Journey vs. the Classic Automation. th-cam.com/video/kVRhlkEXaO4/w-d-xo.html

I never comment on these things, but your tutorial was very good - concise and easy to follow. I only had one issue. When I chose the schedule for the automation, the best option I had was 'as soon as possible' (not immediately). The email has not gone, but I can see it in the queue and it says it will go in 24 hours. Is that because I do not have the paid version of Mailchimp? If not, am I able to go change it once the automation has been published? Thanks SO much again for this great tutorial!
Thank you for the positive feedback! I believe Mailchimp changed the option from immediately to as soon as possible. I see it in paid and free accounts.
Y'hello Larry! i just finished creating my first ebook after I watched this video. I am back to now follow the steps. Thank you so very much for your teaching. I have been able to set up Mailchimp and all thanks to your tutorial. Happy subscriber here! 🤩💖🦋
Super clear thank you very much Larry Snow! One more question: how did you design the picture of your ebook that you upload on your email? Bonjour from France!
@@LarrySnow thank you! Well I search in Canva already and can't find the picture of the full eBook. I mean the one you show at 6min30sec on your video (kind of a 3D).
Larry, Thanks for creating a short and precise tutorial. It is easy to understand. One thing is not clear, where to put an affiliate link. Please advise.
I'm not sure what you mean? This video was for using a landing page as a lead magnet. If you want to add affiliate link in an email check with Mailchimp's terms and conditions, if it is OK to do so, then you can add the link to any campaign email, automation, landing page, etc. mailchimp.com/help/about-affiliate-links-in-mailchimp/
Brilliant Larry. Thanks for this succint video tutorial. I am really grateful. I followed your steps and they worked, I have successfully launched my first email campaign (to myself). May there be more subscribers to come. All the best!
how do you add a specific time of the day for customer journey. I have done the date, now I want the emails to be sent at specific times so 9am sunday, 6pm monday etc. I know you can do that on campaign manager but i would to have a customer journey for 7 days of automated emails for an offer then each day at 9am they get an email. The issue is if they join at 1pm then the delay is a day then they will get the email the next day at 1pm not 9am!
@@LarrySnow hi larry, thanks for a quick reply. The date then i think ive got that but timeframes then where is that. do you have a video link for this please?
I don't have a video specifically for selecting a date and time, but you should see within the first window when creating your email in the journey under the Schedule section these two questions - Which days should your email send? (you can specify the day of the week) and What time of day should your email send? (specify a timeframe)
This was great information and it was easy to understand. Thank you. How do I keep it from going to the spam folder or junk folder? I want people to see it when they open their email. Thanks again.
You're welcome. Mailchimp has many articles on how to avoid or minimize emails ending up in spam. mailchimp.com/help/my-campaigns-are-going-to-spam-folders/ mailchimp.com/resources/avoid-spam-filters/ mailchimp.com/help/avoid-outlooks-junk-folder/ mailchimp.com/help/about-spam-filters/
Hi Larry your video is fab! If the new subscriber needs to confirm email address first, should i follow the same process? Thank you so much! I am new in Mailchimp and kinda lost somehow your vids are really big help
Hi Mycah - glad the videos are helpful to increase your knowledge on Mailchimp. Confirmations can be tricky with automations in place. For me, I don't use the confirmations.
It seems that Mailchimp is bringing Customer Journeys to the forefront, but you still should be able to use Classic automation. Look for a link that says something like - "Looking for the old Automation builder? Go to Classic Automations"
Finally - This video is so clear and easy to follow. Thank you very much. Question: I was told that I needed a paid version of Mailchimp in order to create different emails (campaigns) for different Opt-Ins - so I did upgrade - BUT here I see that it is possible to simply use tags to do this. The plan options in MailChimp are quite confusing; Do you know if the free version will allow me to create various automations for different Opt-In forms (via tagging)? Many Thanks!
You're welcome. The free version of Mailchimp allows you to have 1-step automation, no series, and no Journeys. The $9.99 version allows automation series and pre-built journeys. This video was created on a Standard pricing plan, but you can replicate it in the free version - You'll need to select a different template than I did. Landing pages are free where you can add tags for segmenting, after sign-up you send a 1-step automation. From there, use regularly scheduled campaign emails.
Nice walk through. Do you know much (or can you direct me to), places where I can look into the SEO-quality of MailChimp stores? You mentioned that the product description is where the "SEO juice" is. I realize this product is very new, but weighing options between helping a friend get a store started very quickly with MC, or going with a WordPress website and e-commerce. This is such an easy way to get started though. Thanks.
Hi Lynn, Mailchimp provides resources on SEO here - mailchimp.com/resources/search-engine-optimization/. As far as the quality that depends on a lot of factors: niche, brand, keywords, etc.
Hi Tressey - the landing page is not an email campaign - it does not send to your audience. Instead you use the link created to share out to social media. Starting the automation will enable the trigger - which in this case - anyone who signs up for the freebie through the landing page, will receive the triggered email to those sign ups which contains a link to the freebie.
Hi Larry, how can add 2 buttons of sing up int the same landing page? I would like to put the option "Download my lead magnet" and the fill spaces at the beginning of the form but I also would like a second CTA at the end in case the person missed it.

Thanks very much! You are very welcome!
Many thanks for this! It was of great help :)
Glad it helped!

Glad it was helpful!
how do you add a specific time of the day for customer journey.
Hi there! Thanks for your question. You can schedule automated emails in the Journey to go out on a specific day and between two specific timeframes.
@@LarrySnow just seen it on the first email. So after that they should all send between certain hours
@@GabeRutherfordFitness You'll need to set/schedule the day and timeframe for each email in the Journey.
Very informative video, Thank you...
You're welcome, glad it was helpful.
WOWW AMAZING THANKS, i can do it easily
You are welcome 😊
cool, this helped so much!!!!! thank you.
You’re welcome!
This was great information and it was easy to understand. Thank you. How do I keep it from going to the spam folder or junk folder? I want people to see it when they open their email. Thanks again.
You're welcome. Mailchimp has many articles on how to avoid or minimize emails ending up in spam.

Awesome! Glad the video helped!
Banger video! ❤❤❤
Thanks!
This was an outstanding tutorial! Many thanks
You're very welcome!
Has Mailchimp changed their automation feature since you made this video? It's showing completely different for me. Thank you!
It seems that Mailchimp is bringing Customer Journeys to the forefront, but you still should be able to use Classic automation. Look for a link that says something like - "Looking for the old Automation builder? Go to Classic Automations"
Hey Larry! Thank you soooo much! AND.. how do I now connect my website to this opt in page?!
You can link to it.
Finally - This video is so clear and easy to follow.
Thank you very much.
Question:
I was told that I needed a paid version of Mailchimp in order to create different emails (campaigns) for different Opt-Ins - so I did upgrade - BUT here I see that it is possible to simply use tags to do this.
The plan options in MailChimp are quite confusing;
Do you know if the free version will allow me to create various automations for different Opt-In forms (via tagging)?
Many Thanks!
You're welcome. The free version of Mailchimp allows you to have 1-step automation, no series, and no Journeys. The $9.99 version allows automation series and pre-built journeys. This video was created on a Standard pricing plan, but you can replicate it in the free version - You'll need to select a different template than I did. Landing pages are free where you can add tags for segmenting, after sign-up you send a 1-step automation. From there, use regularly scheduled campaign emails.
Amazing, thank you
You're welcome.
Thanks.
Hi Lynn,
Mailchimp provides resources on SEO here - mailchimp.com/resources/search-engine-optimization/.
As far as the quality that depends on a lot of factors: niche, brand, keywords, etc.
@@LarrySnow Thanks - they have quite a few articles on it already.
Very helpful - thanks Larry :-)
You're very welcome, Claire.
This goes great up until right after minute 4:50, because I'm still using the free version. Automations require an upgrade on my end.
Automation series are not available on the free plan, however, you can use one-off automation as depicted in this video.
Does pressing start automation send the landing page out to the target audience right at the moment?
Hi Tressey - the landing page is not an email campaign - it does not send to your audience. Instead you use the link created to share out to social media. Starting the automation will enable the trigger - which in this case - anyone who signs up for the freebie through the landing page, will receive the triggered email to those sign ups which contains a link to the freebie.
Hi Larry, how can add 2 buttons of sing up int the same landing page? I would like to put the option "Download my lead magnet" and the fill spaces at the beginning of the form but I also would like a second CTA at the end in case the person missed it.
No can do - one sign up form per landing page.
This is a very useful tutorial. Thank you
You are welcome!
Hi if I want to use the same subscribers for my general email list would the tags effect that?
