Roger Moore was a magnificent Bond: charming, funny, serious when needed, handsome, lethal, heroic. No less than 7 Bond films (I doubt any 007 will beat that). Live and Let Die was a great Bond film. Hard to believe Moore was 45 when he started.

    • @kennygreig456

Hard to believe he was older than Sir Sean.
As a Scot is seems sacrilige to say Roger was my fav and this film in particular but i guess I'd put that down to my age, born a touch earlier it would no doubt be Sean and 1 of his films, if born more recently probably Craig and 1 of his.

I know it's going to sound weird but it also felt like his version of Bond had a slight more respect towards women than Sean Connery's version, like yes even if he did like to sleep with many of them, he didn't just see them as sex objects meant for his pleasure

    • @planetmayhem2012

@Randy White i think only because we grew up on his films. he was mine too for a long time. but as i got older and more objective, his campy style may actually be the least in terms of substance. still entertaining though, especially at that time.

When you were young and your heart was an open book
You used to say live and let live
(You know you did, you know you did, you know you did)
But if this ever changing world in which we're living
Makes you give in and cry
    Say live and let die
    (Live and let die)
    Live and let die
    (Live and let die)
What does it matter to ya
When you got a job to do
    You gotta do it well
You gotta give the other fellow hell
You used to say live and let live
(You know you did, you know you did, you know you did)
But if this ever changing world in which we're living
Makes you give in and cry
    Say live and let die

I only knew this song in Shrek 3 and now I found out the song was a part of a Bond film. Wow and I saw it. That is pretty bad ass. A great start to Roger Moores career as 007 from 1973 to 1985 the longest Bond actor to grace the silver screen since Sean Connery took the 60s by storm. It wouldn't be 007 without him.

+Larry Loveless. A little too old (he was 46 when he took over the role as 007). He was, however, in his prime as The Saint.

I love the crocodile stunt so much I researched it a bit Ross Kananga was a crocodile farmer This is from Wikipedia: In 1972, whilst searching for a suitable location for the James Bond movie Live and Let Die, location scouts were intrigued by a sign which read, ‘Trespassers Will Be Eaten’. After meeting with Kananga they were convinced the Swamp Safari should be used as part of the fictional San Monique.[5] The charismatic Kananga inspired screenplay writer Tom Mankiewicz to name the film's villain Dr. Kananga.[6] In the movie he is played by Yaphet Kotto.
Kananga suggested the stunt of Bond (played by Roger Moore) jumping on crocodiles, and was enlisted by the producers to perform it.[7] The scene required five takes to complete, including one in which the last crocodile snapped at Kananga's heel, tearing his trousers and causing him a number of injuries. One required 193 stitches. Kananga was paid $60,000 for his contribution.[6][8]
During one scene of the movie Lucky Number Slevin the character named Kananga in Live and Let Die is mentioned.

      So, they used real crocs?

    • @GreatDarkSpot
      @GreatDarkSpot ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@Mailed-Knight Yes, though they were chained to the bottom of the pond. But because Kananga had to do the stunt several times to get it perfect, they started to anticipate him which is why he got nipped on the last (and successful) attempt.

It has been my faysong since I was 8….I am 60 now….EVERY time I hear it, it moves my soul and I get chills. I’ve heard a lot of music…this song changed the of a little girl musically…

The best Bond - Roger Moore. Upbeat and cocky, even when things were looking bad. His sense of humor was in such contrast to later Bonds, like Daniel Craig - an excellent Bond, but dark & brooding, and always ready to exercise his License to Kill.
