    My German Verb-Conjugation companion article: germanwithlaur...
    Learning German verb conjugations is tricky because German verbs have more conjugation options compared to English verbs --so there’s more that our brains have to remember!
    If you want to speak German -even on the most basic level- then you have to learn how to conjugate verbs.
    But there are lots of repeated patterns to German verb conjugations that make learning them way easier.
    Watch to learn my 3-step process for verb conjugations so you can start making sense of German verbs.

    My parents were immigrants from German and naturally I grew up speaking German. However, I never formally learned German grammatical structure and it wasn't until watching this video that I fully grasped why the conjugations were as they are since for me the language came naturally having learned it as a child and continued speaking to this day after many decades. When you explained the conjugations of verbs it suddenly made perfect sense to me in that while currently learning to speak, read and write the Spanish language I came to realize just how similar it is to German grammatical structure. In Spanish the infinite form of verbs drop the ending and then adds the appropriate ending to the stem to form the appropriate verb tense. Conjugations form an important part of the Spanish language just as it does for the German language, but since I learned German as a child without studying German grammar I never realized that, which lead to my a-ha moment while watching this video.
    Thank you for your excellent videos which I very much enjoy and look forward to learning more about German grammatical structure!

    Laura thanks for keeping me updated on what you are doing. The word conjugation certainly rings a bell from my 7th and 8th grade German classes so I will have to try to wrap my head around what you are saying. Root verb with a conjugation tacked on the end. I did actually have a lot of that stuff drilled into my brain 37 years ago but it has mostly flown out! :)

    I'm been practicing German myself for 2 years I'll say, I don't have urgency and take my time (I'm end A2 and start B1) and it was the first time "Sie" became clear 11:25!
    I also benefited a lot from strong/weak/mix declension form you've introduced else there won't be any reasonable basis to understand the subject. (This was a topic I did not know was a topic :))
    Thanks a lot for your efforts you're absolutely making a difference there

    I wish my teacher of German had taught us the verbal conjugation in this simpler way instead of making us literally CHANT the verbal conjugations.... YOU give us the tools to understand the process, my teacher just told us to memorize that's why I have forgotten 90% of my German.

    Clearest and best structure you have given us, Laura, to learn verb and connected pronouns in German -- thank you! so helpful!
    Min 11:10 (Laura's pronoun and easy conjugation table) is the best way I have ever seen to help sort out in my head the pronouns, to then more quickly be able to conjugate verbs correctly in real life.
    Please do more of these, where we can simply follow along as you practice this same method for consistency with more verbs. Also, I would value a summary video in your style of the different verb forms -- present tense, present perfect, past tense, etc, up to the more complex -- yet with this same pronoun and conjugation table. Would value an English-speaking explanation of the various simple to complex conjugation forms. thank you!

    Laura, you are the best source of German learning I have found yet!
    My question about this video is about strong verbs, weak & mixed. Do the conjugations follow the same path/order between the 3 types of verbs? Also, will you do a video to further help with strong, weak & mixed?

    • @GermanwithLaura
      @GermanwithLaura  ปีที่แล้ว

      All three types do take the same pattern for conjugations, but the strong and mixed will take some other changes. I may do more on these verbs, but I do have some other videos to do first! :-)

    Thanks! I now wonder if the English conception of a verb predicate, like "to study", messes with my understanding of the use of prepositions in German, because I automatically think a "to" needs to go with a verb (or more so than in German). I have "to" study, versus, Ich muss studieren. I don't need a preposition the German way in this example.

    • @GermanwithLaura
      @GermanwithLaura  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My suggestion to explain formal address in German: formal address use "they" instead of "you". Instead of "are you comfortable?" it goes "are they comfortable?". If it is done in written form "They" must be capitalized. By the way: every address in written form should be capitalized, informal too, because of politeness. Goes a bit out of fashion nowadays, unfortunately

    • @GermanwithLaura
      @GermanwithLaura  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would be kinda nice if they were all capitalized, right? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. - Nicole, GwL Team

    What a terrible video. Regular verbs are easy. You started off saying we would learn how to conjugate irregular verbs like sein but never got there

    • @GermanwithLaura
      @GermanwithLaura  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you don't struggle with verbs, that's wonderful!
      While Laura used sein as an example for all the possible word changes, the purpose of the video was to highlight simple formulas for basic weak verbs. Maybe she will be able to record more advanced verb topics in the future. - Nicole, GwL Team

    Ich verstehe. I need to understand some original German to compare with (Eng) translation if I see some "mystery". One needs to translate an original language into a...normal one:e.g. "Das Nitchts nichtet" (of a philosophical moron, Heidegger) - it is syntactical nonsense: such sentence is Nonsense!
