I have RF 28-70 2.8 IS for my R8 and it replaced all my prime lenses and all other lenses except telephoto. Fantastic lens for every day use. Dead silent focus and IS. And its very compact. Love the twisting to make it travel compact. And it is super sharp. I have simple nothing negative to say about it. This small Zoom and R8 is a great combo.
Hi Matti - thanks for this. Just purchased this lens this morning and traded in my 4 primes (before seeing your vlog). There’s a special offer here in UK until the end of December with £250 off! Just figured that a constant f2.8 is good enough for me and all the reviews are great. I have plenty of vintage primes to also enjoy.
In my experience for a solo shooter in an event everything happens too fast I need a versatile zoom lens. In that kind of situation a zoom lens is super handy and efficient!
I’ve followed Tamron since the 1980s, and it’s been nice to see the brand evolve to its current status. I believe that a designated PRO lineup is in their near future.
This lens on Nikon Z is also fantastic! Very quick and reliable AF (equal to the Nikkor S line lenses) and good IQ (not as sharp as Nikkor primes). But very well built lens, performs great at all focal lengths.
If that lens is an excellent consumer lens & putting a Pro badge on it would only increase the cost to the consumer without any further advantage ,in my opinion .Perhaps we should " let sleeping dogs lie" as the adage goes. Enjoyed your video as always & looking forward to the next one.🙂
Hi Matti, it certainly was a good deal showing this Tamron lens. It's good to see you using zoom lenses recently. Same with the Telephoto lenses where you are using them more regularly. I used to like Sigma lenses more than Tamron lenses in the past, but my view has changed, and i like Tamron lenses more now. Thanks Matti for this video, have a nice day 😊.
Thank you for this review. I’d never question your integrity. We saw it from the time you were a Lumix ambasador. I still remember your review of 15mm 1.7. Consumer graded quality lenses at reasonable prices are very important. Both Sony and Sigma came out with professional lenses at eye-watering prices. Do we need more of those? What I’d like from Tamron are uppdates to their primes with faster autofocus and at f1.8.
@@mattisulanto True! I was just reflecting over why Tamron is not making higher end lenses. Yes some of the affordable Sony and Sigma lenses are very good. I have the Sony 85 1.8 and it’s a gem.
I recently purchased the Nikon version of this 28-75mm F2.8. I considered the Tamron but went with the Nikon version as I thought the Autofocus may a better match for my Nikon bodies and possibly have better resale value if I were to sell it. The lens balances well on my Z5 & Z7II, it's light, it's sharp and it's fast. I have nothing bad to say about this excellent lens.
Hi Matti, as you know I do not like zoom lenses, for what they are, they are too big, too heavy and too expensive. I like very good prime Lenses, when you get to know a prime Lens, it is like you become one with the Lens, that never happens with a zoom. Right now I use a full frame 50mm Lens for first time in 44 years ! The only reason I try it is because it is aperture 1.0 and I want ot photograph at nigth time using ISO 100 without having to use a tripod. I like it, it is great fun to use, most of the time I only use it at aperture 1.0, but I have used it in daytime for f Landscape at aperture 5.6, so I can highly recommend the Voigtländer Nokton 50mm 1.0 Aspherical, have a nice day 😊
@@mattisulanto For several weeks I have used the Voigtländer Nokton 50mm 1.0 aspherical in dou with the new Sony 85mm 1.4 GM II to get to know those Lenses and I like them a lot, I have used 85mm for many years and it is a favorite for me. But I never really like 50mm Lenses, until now with the 1.0 which are really fun to use, you should try to borrow one !
I’ve used some great Tamron lenses on my Canon Dslr’s. I think now, i would look for 24mm at the wide end. Love the Canon 24-105mm; even being an f4. I suppose i am thinking more landscape than general, of course.
I saw a video here on TH-cam it was a Vs video with the first version and the second version the the first version had better low light auto focus. Also I remember years ago I can't remember if it was a video or a comment but someone said the first version of the Panasonic 14-140 had better auto focus in low light. Maybe its the coating, maybe more glass to move around? I'm just guessing I really don't know but I found this interesting that some old lens have better auto focus in low light.
I use the same lens with my Sony A7R5 and have no complaints, sharpness is quite decent, although the sensor is quite demanding on that camera. My copy of the lens makes a slight 'whining' kind of noise when focusing and I've been wondering if it is a feature or just my copy...
im more a superzoom lens fanatic. dont really wanna have multitude of lenses of different focal lengths because i dont have the space. wide to almost reasonable tele would be lovely on a canon aps-c right now. 16-150mm is a dream lens for that kind of thing ☹
On the subject of the Pro Line: Sony is co-owner of Tamron. It may be that there are agreements here. I would like fixed focal lengths that are cheaper than those from Sony and Sigma. Why isn't there a new 24-105mm from Tamron or Sigma? I would prefer a 24-120mm or 28-135mm
That possible agreement pops out every time this topic is mentioned. However, we don't know if there is such an agreement. There are plenty of very affordable and good primes from Viltrox and TTArtisan, for example.
@@mattisulanto I use Viltrox 27mm and 75 mm 1.2 on Sony 6600 and 7R IV in crop mode. Vitrox 16 mmi think to buy as a ultrawide on fullframe and 24mm on APSC.
I'm selling my Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 G2 (Nikon F mount) lens to buy this 28-75mm Nikon Z mount lens. While I like the 24-70, I have to use an adapter, which adds length and weight, on my Z6 II and III.

When shooting landscapes it is my go to lens along with the 17-28 and 70-180 g2..
Tamron has released great lenses for a fair price.

Yes ! I would like to see some pro-level prime lenses from Tamron. Bring on the 35 !
Petri, welcome to the channel! I agree, some pro level primes would be great.
@petripuurunen No bring on a 28mm, a 40mm and 75mm. No modern Sony or Sigma 28mm on the market.

I believe the Pentax 15-30mm f/2.8 is a rebadged Tamron with some special Pentax coatings. Easily one of the best lenses I own.
That lens is a Tamron in a different wrapping indeed and it should be pretty solid performer.

Hello Matti. There is no subtitle. Please enable the captioning module.
I have no idea why the subtitles are not on.

@@mattisulanto Ah, I must have missed that bit. Watched it again. I see you mention it at min 8:04. Cool

Tamron is partly owned by Sony who are no doubt keen on making sure they don't compete in any way with their own lenses, hence no high end stuff.
That is what many keep saying but it's only speculation. After all, Tamron is already competing with Sony by making lenses in the first place.
I just wish Canon would open their rf-line to third party manufacturers. Another great lens which is just not available now for me.
That is a pity indeed for Canon users.
