Is it really raw/virgin/remy hair? - How to test your hair extension bundles

  • The best quality hair is that which is directly cut from a donor's head. In this way all the cuticles are Intact and Aligned. Most suppliers will claim to sell this hair, but only a small portion actually delivers on this hair.
    (Turn on subtitles)
    If you want to verify if your hair is high quality or not, we recommend you to wash your bundle (multiple times) in slightly warm water. Lower quality hair will get frizzy after washing.
    We (Bossique) are a wholesale hair supplier and we actually deliver on high quality hair. The white band product in the video, is a sample of our full & aligned cuticle hair. If you would like to know more, feel free to contact me on WhatsApp: +86 135 3369 3283

    Okay, Interesting. So if we are shopping for hair vendors or just hair for ourselves should we ask for full cuticle hair since it seems to be the best quality hair or is it called Pure remy hair?

      Raw/Virgin/Remy are confusing terms, and everyone uses them differently and everyone is convinced that they're using them correctly.
      When I talk with suppliers/factories here in China, we mainly use more accurate terms of what the hair actually is (mainly 3 categories):
      1.Top: Hair cut directly from the donor, has full & aligned cuticles
      Not cut directly from a donor, so the cuticles aren't aligned. Would tangle if not processed
      2.Medium: Processed with remy machine (cuticles are aligned with machine + mild chemical smoothing as not 100% can be aligned
      3.Low: Processed. Stripping cuticles completely in acid
      There's going to be variations in this as some are a mix of the above, have different fullness, have different weight bundles, etc.

    It also has to do with where the hair was originally, notice the full cuticle hair is much shorter than the other 2 samples and appears to be the middle part of the persons hair (which is naturally less frizzy than the ends) whereas the other 2 samples are ends of the hair which naturally are frizzy, (speaking for my natural hair) and probably 80% of the population.

    • @BSQBossiqueHair
      @BSQBossiqueHair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Results will be the same, regardless of length. I've done the test regularly for QA with different bundles, and tested quite a few manufacturers over the past 6 years. Can even be cross-verified with other testing methods, i.e. scraping, looking for follicles, bleaching, feeling the cuticles, etc.
      It's not like all 10" bundles get cut from the middle part, so if what you said is true, there should be observable variation between different 10" bundles. However, results are the same.
      And the supposed 80% with a bit of frizz, (potentially due to hair products, styling tools, climate, etc...) I doubt that it's comparable to what happens when a hair doesn't get cut directly from a donor, and pretty much goes into an acid bath.

    Just because it’s floor hair isn’t the reason why it frizz , a lot of peoples natural hair fizz in water pure donor hair fully cuticle aligned can still fizz but just won’t tangle or heavily shed

    • @BSQBossiqueHair
      @BSQBossiqueHair  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Or it might simply be marketing of the vendor.
      Tangle is due to the cuticles not being aligned. More common in improperly processed floor hair. Shedding is due to overprocessing (if it's the hair breaking), or low quality wefting (i.e. glue issues).
      When dealing with different qualities of hair, there's a specific feel (thickness, cuticles), and mild milky smell to high-end hair. For processed hair can smell a dye smell, or chemical smell from processing. It's a little bit hard to explain, but if you have acces to different qualities of hair, could try to pay attention to it. Makes the whole testing process easier.
      But the best way to actually find out, is to have a test protocol in place for them.

    What acid they use to strip the cuticles? And for how long?

    • @BSQBossiqueHair
      @BSQBossiqueHair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's HCl, but not 100% certain, as I also heard they mix other stuff in there, but that remains a secret ingredient. Duration depends on how much they want to strip and that preference differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. I.E. cuticles for textured hair made from raw hair material can be done shortly to create higher quality hair, but higher maintenance... The alternative is to make it smoother, meaning easier to maintain, but also lose some strength. The latter is often done as less required maintenance is what the average client seems to prefer.

    The hair on my hair frizzes immediately after having washed it - big time - and it tangles.

    • @BSQBossiqueHair
      @BSQBossiqueHair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, in this case we're mostly talking about Asian hair extensions under normal circumstances. If hair tangles especially after getting wet (and assuming that your hair care is on point, and not like some clients don't wash it for 2-4 weeks), it will be most likely due to the cuticles of the hair not being properly aligned. It shouldn't happen with the high-end hair, but if the floor hair is improperly processed, will tangle.

    • @BSQBossiqueHair
      @BSQBossiqueHair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a mix of two different qualities of hair. In this case it's a mix between the hair that was cut directly from donor, and remy machine aligned hair. It's mainly done to reduce the cost of the hair (or increase profit), and still bleaches to 613 fairly well.

  • @dknigh3230
    @dknigh3230 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have to be honest. If you’re being honest by shipping the correct product and not what you “show us…” Why are you using someone else’s pics to draw reviews? I have purchased hair from several Asian vendors who charged one price (more than what the hair was worth), and they’ve sent me garbage (many). I now use a solid vendor. You simply check hair by bending backwards upside down- seeking short hairs and broken hairs. Many blacks think thick bundles are legit- wrong! They’re usually mixed. This is not how you check hair. Thanks though. 💛

    • @BSQBossiqueHair
      @BSQBossiqueHair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Tell me, whose pictures are we using to draw reviews? Are you confusing us with someone else, or are you simply making unasserted accusations simply based on that we're a Chinese vendor?
      Human hair generally comes as unprocessed, mildly processed or strongly processed. The Chinese labels for these respectively are BianFa, ShunFa and PaoFa. The first one is cut directly from donor and the latter two use chemicals, which destroy the cuticles depending on how strongly it was processed. This determines how the hair responds to washing (as shown in this video), bleaching as we show in another video, and have some minor giveaways, like the presence of follicles in the hair, either at the base or ends.
      These 3 all come with different grammage, fullness, and with other SHORTCUTS. In this video we're simply trying to show the difference how these different hair respond to washing differently, based on how much the hair was processed.
      What you said about checking for short hairs, is basically checking for shortcuts, not quality (although you would want a certain quality with a minimum amount of shortcuts for a fair price).
      That some women of color think that thick bundles are good, has nothing to do with this video. There are simply a lot of people who are wrong, who are convinced that they're right. You're free to dismiss our information without ever giving it a chance, but it shows that there's still quite a lot left to learn for you. Feel free to check some of our other videos about testing the hair, or feel free to browse through our facebook (facebook.com/bossique) for a lot more accurate information given out over the last 2 years. Hopefully you'll give it a chance, even if it is simply to "debunk" our information. Then we could at least have an open discussion and people would be able to draw their own conclusion of who is right.
