I grew up (since a boy in the early 70s) listening to the Cathedrals, Kingsmen, Inspirations, Florida Boys, Speers, Gaither Trio, etc. Every group and or soloist had a unique delivery for their own ministry, and therefore, found their own specific niche. Most all of them could do MOST things well, but they excelled in more specific areas. Case in point...Cathedrals - awesome polished lush studio recordings followed by simpler (piano and bass only) live performances, still awesome. Then there were the Kingsmen...studio recordings were good, but...their 100% full bore, almost anything goes, train wreck sophisticated live performances wore audiences out for decades! To me...it was all fuel to get to Heaven someday!!!!!!!
Chill... I saw the Kingsmen many times back then and was on a first name basis with most of them - and this was just part of the show. They used to clown around like this to the point the audience was in tears from laughter.
