The problem with the security hired was a casual workforce. Yet the first infected was hotel staff not security. Then from that we all know the history.

Victoria had untrained private security run the operation with minor assistance from state authorities. Very big different. Key examples are the lack of infectious disease training, the reusing of disposable test kits, sleeping with quarantine people, allowing visitors, allowing quarantined people to leave for the day and return. All of this things only happened in Victoria because Victoria was the only state that had private firms heading the operation.

The fact they were not trained falls squarely on the security company. Luckily for the security company however the first person to become infected from the quarantined travellers was a hotel employee who then passed it onto their own friends & family as well as the security workers. I understand it was one of those security guards that went on to become the super spreader. It actually could have happened anywhere that was receiving international travellers and unfortunately Sydney and Melbourne were the main gateway for thousands of returning international travellers.

@@user-mv8ku5my8g the main thing is that we need journalists to ask the hard questions and research what they’re asking without fear or favour. In this case, cradling is doing this. What we do know is that this situation in Victoria is the worst outcome in Victoria’s history - economically, socially and in terms of deaths. In times of crisis, egos and politics should be last and real solutions and decency should be first - regardless of your political leanings.
