Did you know that Black women in the U.S. are nearly three times more likely to die during childbirth or pregnancy than any other race? Did you also know that the top ten states that have the highest rates of maternal mortality are the same states that have passed abortion bans? It’s clear these issues go hand in hand, so we’re talking to the Vice President about how we can fight back to protect our mothers and our reproductive rights. Plus we debut a new game “Questions that NEED to be Answered” as the woman formerly known as True Jackson, VP asks Kamala Harris, VP all of our most burning questions. This absolutely happened to me in two of my births. The anesthesiologist were horrible at my last two births. GOD brought me through both times because I know for a fact they were trying to kill me. I am unsure if I am fully healed now but we take it one day at a time. I hope these efforts protect more lives.

we really need to spend more time publically unpacking the Black maternal health crisis. The VP was making some great points, and it's important to model and show what that looks like, especially the drs visits, support team, logging your feelings, and what supportive post maternal care is. and let me tell you, as a working mom, employers do not care what new moms or families need they only care about your productivity and if it slips due to being a new mom they will fire you in many cases.
So very, very true. My aunt and my sister experienced this, that their employers couldn't have cared less.
@marylander. I agree. I would also add, Maternal care starts before a woman decides to give birth. First, it is extremely difficult to find a good doctor...one that listens and looks in the eye while talking, and takes concerns and issues seriously. Second, if a black woman has pre-existing conditions these need to be properly managed before getting pregnant. This is not talked about enough. Lastly, there needs to be a greater priority placed on eating right and exercising.
Absolutely loved this interview. Madam VP Harris and Keke truly brought the ying and yang to such a serious conversation. I learned so much while simultaneously being entertained!
Keke Palmer... She is a legend. She is an icon and she IS the moment! Talking about a person who can command any room, baby it's Keke Palmer. It's also nice to see VP Harris in a relaxed environment. My only critique is when interviewers are trying to humanize her and make her more relatable, especially to black folk, she pivots. The people just need ONE moment to see her in her true authenticity. Tell us something!!

I love Keke so much. She’s so intelligent and graceful. She brings a level of empathy, perspective, and approachability that makes her so accessible and fun to watch. I’m not even American, and I have no idea intimately about the issues she’s discussing, but I’m still engaged and interested. Honestly, I watched this more for Keke than I did for Kamala. Of course I love Kamala too and think she’s doing a great job, but Keke is so wonderful. I hope she gets her own show. I would love to watch her interview more people.
