As a novice blacksmith who has had to teach himself from scratch, I am really enjoying your instructional videos and learning a great deal. My next project is making one of your hammers since I am still using a modified 3 pound sledge.
*Alec* You have inspired me and I have decided to take up blacksmithing. Thank you for these videos and thank you for all the time you put into your craft.
Nice to see we started preparing for the class on the same day, yesterday I began cutting up all the steel to make the striking anvils, and anvil stand. I can't wait for this class!
Love the high speed video of the drifts being forge. The rapid color changes and seeming em being drawn out is pretty cool. Oh yeah... totally stoked for the hammer to ship!
+Bacon YumYum hey Bacon! Thanks for the awesome comment! My business is split up between: Hammers, Classes, Misc Tools, Online Courses, merchandise and TH-cam ad revenue! :)
Alec Steele that's a diverse income stream. Well done! Thanks for the honest answer. The hammers look great and I regrettably missed the last preorder but I'll try to be more ready next round.
Going back and watch the older stuff because it's been over a week without a new Alec Steele video. Now I'm reminded that I'll never own an Alec Steele hand forged hammer and it's made me sad.
Awesome. I look forward to your daily videos when I get home from work. Nothing like a cold beer, fire, hammers, and steel. Glad you showed that pile of hammers Alec. I can see mine from here. Keep up the great videos. Any way you could make one about Damascus using cable.
Those hammers look awesome! I have just started blacksmithing with an old coal forge that was my great grandfather's and an anvil that was my wife's great grandfather's. I am really excited to get more into it and I would love to get my hands on one of your hammers. I really need to get a rounding hammer. Eventually I hope to forge one of my own, but I am still a long way from being able to do that. Love your videos, keep it up!!!!
Alex what materail do you make your long drift out of I have spent the afty forging tapers out of high speed steel from really big woodchipper blades and used them to drift a hole in a hammer head Cheers Bevan
Once we get the expansion on the shop done, so that we aren't working under the open Sky anymore, we will have to have you come by for some BBQ and backwoods blacksmithing next time you are this side of the pond.
im impressed that was an amazing feet of work in such a small space of time that is great time management skills you have there you almost made it look possible for anyone to do
I dunno man you walked onto set like a boss if that was me on 3 hours I'd probably have walked into the forge lol the energy is infectious even if it's just good editing
Heck yeah! Aron Watson is where it's at! let me know if he sings Texas Lullaby! (I'm from Texas). Glad you know the meaning of good country music! As always, a great video! Looking foreword to the live stream!
+Mark Ling it was an incredible concert - he has great energy and sings about important things! I love country music because it has a lot of depth to it! Family, the land, hard work and freedom. He sings about these things beautifully!
Alec, great video as always, do you have a video of making a hammer punch with dimentions and material? I would like to make a hammer and a punch to make said hammer. Thanks love your channel!!
You need to get yourself down the waterfront in Norwich on 24th April for some top notch rockgrass from the pioneers HAYSEED DIXIE 👍🏻 I'm off to see them in Cambridge on the 21st. Can't wait for my new hammer they look sooo perty, love the chared handles!
dear sir, I found your video content very pleasing. it was most interesting to see how a production line process might be used as opposed to manual production of a single item. oh sod this, cracking vid alec lovely to see that mind making good use of the kit you have around you. glad to see your content never seems to slack off any.. basically grand stuff keep it up 😆👿🤘👍
How much do your hands hurt after a day of blacksmithing? I'm a machinist by trade and love all things metal. I also like carpentry. Been following your channel for awhile now. Rad editing in your latest videos btw. Cheers
Awesome video mate! 👍🏼🔨⚒...looking at that pile of hammers ready to go i rekon most of the vid was actually in real time😃😂...I managed to grab a tshirt btw 👍🏼
Have you got any videos of a purely hand forged hammer with no power tools? I think It'd be interesting to see, if only to get a gauge on how hard such a thing is to do.
new here. hi. love your stuff. Im learning a lot watching. but, if possible, a voiceover explaining the tools used. or a video of what tools you use and their purpose. I haven't yet looked to see if you ALREADY do, since this is the third of your videos I watch. apologies of you do. keep doin what your doin. Im learning a lot! thank you!
Good videos, but can you do something else than just hammers or tools to make them? I mean all that damascus style patterns that look really good, but what about something that would blow a mind? A greatsword or something? :D
Nice... when will you do a next hammer batch? (i neeeeeeeeeeeeeed one) Just purchased the tshirt and hoodie combo ('cause it's cold), love your videos and your energy, keep it up bro :D
Well I got my fourge going it has ben a long wile. I lost my hammer so I'm going to try to start with the small one I have and use it to make a bigger one so I can make a bigger one yet then I need to re make Al of my tooling as well 😭
An Englishman who likes American country music....that's weird idk why it's weird but it is. I could tell though he wears American style cowboy blue jeans and cowboy boots which seems like it would be a pain in the ass because I'm also a Smith and love my southern roots here in Georgia but smooth pavement shop floors + square toe boots = tailbone fracture city.
As a novice blacksmith who has had to teach himself from scratch, I am really enjoying your instructional videos and learning a great deal. My next project is making one of your hammers since I am still using a modified 3 pound sledge.
VS so am I
I can't wait to get a forge. I love that you are new Smith friendly and don't get aggrevated by trying to teach people wanting to learn. .ty
*Alec* You have inspired me and I have decided to take up blacksmithing. Thank you for these videos and thank you for all the time you put into your craft.
+Everythingisdull hey man! That's great to hear that you're getting excited by the craft!
Nice to see we started preparing for the class on the same day, yesterday I began cutting up all the steel to make the striking anvils, and anvil stand. I can't wait for this class!
+Paul Krzysz 😀😀 going to be a blast!
I never thought I'd find a fellow Aaron Watson fan in a 19 y/o English blacksmith. Hope you enjoyed the show, cheers from the States!
Love seeing the process of forging from the blank to the end product ☺️
Love the high speed video of the drifts being forge. The rapid color changes and seeming em being drawn out is pretty cool. Oh yeah... totally stoked for the hammer to ship!
+Chris Maxson Thanks Chris! Thrilled you liked it!
The energy in these videos is positively infectious.
Q: As a business, is your shop's primary product tools made for other craftsmen?
+Bacon YumYum hey Bacon! Thanks for the awesome comment! My business is split up between: Hammers, Classes, Misc Tools, Online Courses, merchandise and TH-cam ad revenue! :)
Alec Steele that's a diverse income stream. Well done! Thanks for the honest answer. The hammers look great and I regrettably missed the last preorder but I'll try to be more ready next round.
+Bacon YumYum Thank you! I'm working hard at it and it's going beautifully! Always happy to answer questions like this!
Going back and watch the older stuff because it's been over a week without a new Alec Steele video. Now I'm reminded that I'll never own an Alec Steele hand forged hammer and it's made me sad.
hope you enjoyed the show, as always I love your work.

+Daniel Deysenroth that's awesome! You'll love forging your own hammer!
Thanks Alec. Is it possible to forge one by yourself without a striker or a power hammer? Or is it only possible with the help of a striker?
+Daniel Deysenroth it is certainly possible but it would be a different style to a Rounding hammer!
Is this something that you could do a video on in the future?
I have just installed a 2Cwt massey and am learning to use it, I think today I will try to make some drifts Cheers Bevan
+Bevan Wilson that's so awesome! I'm very envious! The massey's are the best!
