It never ceases to amaze me how valuable it is to share knowledge in SC. I had no idea the lock indicator was broken. Which is why I felt my missiles have been broken for a while.
In my experience the rattlers are basically the same effectiveness. IF the target is moving away from you in a relatively straight line, they fucking SLAP. however if they are moving towards you, or perpendicular to you, you'll be lucky to land half the projectiles
When I first fired off 4xS3 missiles and saw that a rearm would cost the same as an entire ATLS I realised CIG have no idea what they're doing. That promo video of the Firebird launching half a dozen missiles to destroy a Ballista is laughable now.
@@sixshadowelf Because repeater is energy comming from power plant it does not throw physicalised projectile For ammo this is the case in Real life, Because missile are much more expensive to produce than ammo, Because spamming missiles is ruining dogfights gameplay you have to think twice before shooting each missile Are you serious with those dumb questions ?
What really triggers me is NPC's are very happy to spam missiles, they don't care about the cost. The economy is terrible right now, compounded by the fact the game is broken and I waste so much money on insurance claims and replacing gear from random bug related deaths
They only work well when the AI are shooting them at me. The amount of times where I've had my powerplant get sniped on a Connie by a Reliant or another light fighter using S1 or S2 missiles is crazy. Fresh Connie no damage and I'm screaming in to gun range if I see anything with Missiles on it or spamming them back to knock out them before they shoot me. Otherwise I'm praying I'm not crippled out of nowhere after the first beep of the launch warning. Another menace is getting chased by a hammerhead that's shooting missiles in NAV mode somehow.
When the cost of the missiles required to take out the ships in a bounty mission cost 5-20 times as much as the mission pays you.. you better not quit your day job doing salvage
S e rivers actually weren't to bad. Just love how I can run through MRTs all night, but multiple times I run into one actual player in a hornet. They instantly melt my large ship in seconds. Loosing everything. Haha
Missiles have been broken for a while. When they properly lock they seem to work great. The problem is sometimes you'll walk onto a Target and your missiles just fire straight. Really noticeable with the constellation because its missiles launched upwards. I was doing the save pyro missions. Constellation, fired a single missile at a ship, it locked on and hit the ship. Fire a second missile at the same ship and it said locked on. But the missile just flew up into the sky. Fired a third and it went up again. The 4th one finally locked properly. This was all between 2km and 3 km.
Is it not odd that your missile crosshair turns green when properly locked - like most other GUI. Trivial, but such a small and very helpful thing to fix.
Right now EM missiles are not reliable near exec hangars due to the fact that ambience EM signals are very high in that area. If the target ship is small and running stealth components you would rarely lock and hit that ship with EM missiles, as ambience EM exceeding 10k near exec hangars
I had a 1xS2 missle from a player titan clap 👏 my starlancers chromed checks 🍑. Ignore s3 shield at 100%. Put me in an infinite backspin. Could not target lock the ship. Spend the next 5 min taking down my shields and blowing me up. 💀
@ I don’t mind them taking artistic licence. In this universe missiles and dogfighting would be totally outdated. You’d be shooting from multiple miles away, I just want fun and exciting combat and missiles suck.

taskforce and pioneers are bugged/a mistake. they can shut down f8cs and connies with 4 missiles
Holding Right click for Presision mode aids me a lot in hitting with Missles
@Cpt_Foxyloxy 6:03 , Look at the top right, at the end of the bar, RNG, is the current distance to the destination.
Is that available without being in precision mode? First time I see that

blast radius on the EM size 1s has to be an error, they have larger radii than size 5 torps.

I found it’s best to just grab taskforce 1. It’s cheap and does splash damage that can disable components and seems to lock well around 5k.

On my Taurus strikeforce 2 lock on target, but then just shoots straight into the distance xD
I find infrared missiles in pyro are, in general, less reliable. Maybe from the ambient infrared signature or the system?
Can we ride a MOAB to the surface of a planet? Does the game have cowboy hats? Important Questions for 4.0.2!

Missiles are best when they don’t work.
Just take them out the game.
Missiles made guns obsolete in RL fighter combat, but CIG is making clown universe, so of course everything gets reversed.
