unbelievable!! good thing you could get a ride down Wow that was Nuts! /bees at the water site, off trail, crazy weather and crossing that moonscape this one had all kinds of adventure and excitement thanks so much for taking us with you, another Amazing Accomplishment!
I really wanted this hike and had waited years for the opportunity. I knew the route finding would be difficult. The good thing is I don't have nightmares about ribbons anymore.
You got this Philadelphia dude off the couch driving across the country multiple times hiking 14ers in Colorado, highpoints in TX, AZ and NM. Now you lay this Hawaiian hike on me …….. I’m in! Thanks for pushing the outside of the envelope. The adventure never ends!
LOVE this comment Deric. The adventure never ends. We step out the door and experience life. With how our world is today, take work with you and just GO!
Wow...10k in elevation gain in 8hrs...rain & wind thrown in, had to be brutal! The most incredible thing I had seen you do was you doing Crestone needle & Peak in one day (without spending the night)! This Hawaii hike may even top that, crazy. You continually inspire me to keep taking on 14ers. Thx, my friend, for sharing!🏔️
Thanks for the great video! I am planning to do this hike in July. Did you have the route loaded on a GPS device or a mapping app like Cal Topo or were you solely relying the the orange ribbons?
Glad you're asking Mark. It's a balance of being there, ribbons, and the app REI hiking project. All the GPS coordinates I had were slightly off. Seems like mine were a little too. There's exciting things coming around the corner on my website and I'll be offering Treks. This is one of them since I personally know the route. :-)
Wow that is simply amazing you’ve earned 1,253 Fitbit floors and approximately 46,000 steps counting getting lost. Who does that , you are a beast Dr. thank you for taking us along and congratulations.
Getting lost isn't fun and I was LOST. It's a mental challenge as well as physical. I never panicked, yet spent lots of energy and time fighting my way back on trail through deep brush, trees, jungle, wind, and rain.
Thank you for responding Mr Foor. Being lost is not for the weary. What you did to maintain composure is rare through what you had to contend with. What a truly amazing feat sir. No pun intended. Congratulations.
My emotions are all over the place. Beautiful hike. But the route finding, tall grass, sand, weather, and etc. What a journey. Well done DB4. Get some rest. BTW - You looked great! Congrats.
You have definitely inspired me sir! Finally got out to Colorado last year, banged out ten 14ers and 2 national parks in 6 days. Decided to start the northeast 115 peaks over 4000ft, did the half dome without a permit, and the plan for this years birthday week was to summit the Matterhorn in switzerland! Unfortunately my guide told me Matterhorn is a no go due to the constant rain (which translates into feet of snow all summer long up high). Too much avy danger, in the summer of all times! But i guess that will have to wait until next year! Bummed! but the mountain will always be there! Keep on pressing on Brandon, loving the content!
Matterhorn has been on my list too. It was part of the plan in 2020....yet for some reason, it got scrapped. Can't remember why. LOL You're a rockstar yourself Eddie. Keep kickin butt on those east cost peaks and posting on IG.
Wondering how this extreme day hike compares with your other extreme day hike when hiked into the Chicago Basin in the San Juan's of Colorado and summited four fourteeners. Congratulations professor.
Great question. Chicago Basin was another mindset and just an incredibly long day and mental game. This hike is so different with brutal route finding and conditions being poor. It made this hike extremely challenging.
Is there a downloadable trail that I could use to stay on GPS? Or are there a series of shorter sections that I can string together to do this hike and have GPS tracking?
It is really hard to find a downloadable trail that accurate. At the time I did it, it wasn't even on all trails. It was on REI hiking project, yet slightly inaccurate. Keep in mind, this is a very difficult hike.
@@FoorTrek Thank you. I’m currently in Maui and have done about 40 of Colorado’s 14ers and I have done a couple of ultra races. I’m sure it will be very difficult but I think I can get it done. I’m mostly concerned with the route finding. Is there always water at the cabin?
Hi Cole. Yes, it’s hard finding things about this hike. The key is to find items with the name of the trail: Kaupo Trail. All Trails has some information and also REI hiking project. That said, good luck following the ribbons in the upper elevation. LOL
Congratulations! Perseverance rewards you. Definitely a grueling hike in a beautiful location - I enjoyed the folks sauntering up to the lookout from the parking lot.

Agreed!
Congratulations on completing this ultimate day hike.

Thank you Lance! It was a dozy and I'm proud of this accomplishment, and I'm also really thrilled I found my way back on trail after getting lost. LOL
Watching your videos inspired my wife and I to do our first 14er last weekend, thanks for all the great content!
Love this comment Brandon. CONGRATS to the BOTH of you!
You have the best hiking content on TH-cam in my opinion. Love your videos!
WOW! What a kind comment Alberto and THANK YOU for subscribing. I have quite a few more great hiking videos coming soon!

WOW - going always up to 10,000 feet through difficult conditions - your middle name must be STAMINA!!!
That's what she said :-) LOL
Colorado and Maui, My two favorite places on this earth!!

You’re the best Steve!
I just hiked sliding sands (about 1/4 of it) this past Saturday. Honestly felt like I was on another planet at times. Beautiful.
It's AWESOME and glad you got to experience how incredible hiking is in Hawaii!
What an incredible hike and such beautiful scenery. Congrats on finishing it. Something to always remember.
I'm blessed to have such wonderful memories of this adventure.

Awesome. How much water did you start with?
2 liters

Wow so beautiful 😍 ❤
Thank you! I loved this journey.
Congrats on that one. Whooie! Brutal. Not the nice crisp Colorado air huh? I hope your feet stayed dry. Thanks as always for taking us along.
I was soaked head to toe. Incredible adventure and above 8K feet, it's as dry as Colorado. :-)
Insane and congrats 🎉 This is how I want to experience Hawaii!

Hopefully, you can do some hiking in the state of Montana one day.
YES! Montana is INCREDIBLE and I've hiked there, just no videos. Shame on me!
Ive been wanting to do this hike for a couple years but I can’t find anything online about directions or anything, how do you find that stuff?

The summit is worth the drive. The hike up is worth so much more.
Stunning
I like you and you definitely motivate me. Thanks for what you do. Now I want to go and do that
Thank you for your kind words!
First like 😃
Congrats on the summit! Your videos keep us motivated -- two 14ers left. Thank you for all your positivity. Stay safe! Shaka 🤙!
CONGRATS! Just TWO left! Which ones?
Great video! Just went back and saw your insta gram message and had to check this out! A little late but hey great video
Oh, it's never late to appreciate how hard this hike was LOL
@@FoorTrek the trail markings where very minimal! Good job
