Never realized these butterflies have blue on them. They love the lilacs we have in our front yard and seem to scatter away when I get to close. Nice to see an unhatching from cocoon to a beautiful swallowtail I know. Without butterflies and bees we're goners, gotta show them love
Great video. Been my dream since I was a boy to rear the swallowtail. Took some photos of the swallowtail in flight yesterday. Got them in focus and clear. Was wonderful time with the insect. It had its territory and was seemingly keeping it for himself from other butterflies.
I'm sorry but research what a Tiger Swallowtail cat looks like and its host plant. The early portion of the video is of black swallowtails on parsley. Tigers use several hardwood tree species as their host plant. The caterpillars, though both having bright green colors, are entirely different from one another.

I captured one today. It's a female
I was raising black swallowtails & missed both of their emergences. I currently have 1 drying out its wings!!
Beautiful! Aren't those black swallowtail caterpillars shown in the beginning? (Not tiger swallowtail?)
Not sure about their names but those caterpillars will become the butterfly in the end of the video
They look the same when in caterpillar form, those are eastern tiger caterpillars though
