I do share Clarkes frustration and agree we do lack winners in the squad, from our squad we have lost Kitching, Anderson, Thomas, Connell pre illness, Kane to some extent, Cadden, Jordan Williams, and the arch winner James Norwood, and not replaced many or any of them. Maybe it is time to get Connor out there as we are missing that organisation, discipline, concentration, and focus on the pitch. After scoring a fabulous goal, the ball from O’Keefe was sublime and the finishing off from Humphrys was brilliant, we kick off and look like a school team, Russell is lackadaisical with the ball, we have switched off and are all over the place. Giving away sloppy goals is killing us, especially when we aren’t converting our chances. We have slipped to the point where we if we don’t win next week, we will be swallowed up by the chasing pack and be a couple of wins away from the top 6. There is plenty of the season to go but we need to turn our form around or else we are going to get further and further behind. We have had two excellent lessons this week from our opposition about how to get the most out of matches when your not at your best, and that is how you get into and stay in the promotion picture.
Just arrived back in sunny Worcester & starting to thaw out!!! Great result for us but totally agree with your remark that it was clear, early on the match, that the game would not finish with 22 players on the pitch. Barnsley caused us lots of problems and I still expect you to finish in the play-offs. Good luck.
I was freezing recording this instant reaction show, Mickey, but I felt for Tom holding the camera! (Not a lot, only a bit!). We need a cutting edge in the final third that you have in Jay & Alfie - I’m glad you’ve got home safely &are warming up 😂😂
Football supporters have to be committed at times to bear all kinds of elements that the weather throws at them/us. John & Tracy show that going the extra mile after an unfortunate defeat assisted by another poor L1 referee, they still deliver the commitment that is shown in this vlog and that for me I take my hat off to them both and all supporters up & down the country braving the inclement weather this weekend.
Lisa's husband, Andy here. To be fair, it was a good performance against a good team. I think that they'll get the win they deserve soon. I personally think they've been very unlucky three times this week. 👍
People calling for Clarkes head is mental. What do you expect from a man with such little depth in a squad. My only negative towards Clarke would be not starting Nwakali. But he’ll probably start next match with Phillips out with a red.
I'd expect him to know when you're two midfielders are on yellow cards to have the experience to bring nwakali on earlier . Not when we down to ten men which for long periods we may as well have been
@andrewsymcox3150 double sub when Roberts got injured for me .. hes gotta be starting imo . Hopefully he will now.. can't blame depth of squad on that decision ..
I though our performance was very average. Neither side in the first was particularly great. Barnsley didn't want to play football at all. Long balls all the time. Clearly this has to be tactical from Clarke. Or perhaps due to weather. However, we did battle hard, put ourselves about which was good to see. As soon Birmingham equalised they took control, red card didn't help either. Quality shines through at the end and that's why Birmingham are there where there are and I no doubt they will promotion. Shows where we are as a club. We are competive but lack the quality needed and that's down to the board. I think Clarke is a good coach and many fans wanting his head is shocking. He can only do so much with the players he has.
A really fair summary, I thought Barnsley sounded the better team in the first half, that was according to what I heard on Radio WM, but Stansfield showed what a class act he is. I fully agree with your comments on the stupidity of many of today's rules. Best of luck for the rest of the season, except at St Andrews.
Thank you we obviously have a little bit of bias but try to be fair in the analysis as if you have your rose tinted glasses on all the time you just look daft, personally I felt like a draw would have been a fair result but the quality Birmingham have at this level just shone through, will win this league at a canter
It’s often difficult immediately after the game when you’ve lost to be balanced & fair but we try! Jay was more than a bit naughty putting De Giveney into the hoarding- I thought it was unnecessary but you’re right - I thought on the Tilton Talk Wway End show that either he or Alfie would be the difference. All the very best
Can we recall Shepherd? We definitely need him now Roberts is out. Bradford love him so he must be worth a shout. As to the result it would have been a win for us if the referee had blown for the undoubted penalty on Mr. Humphreys. That would have given us confidence to drive on. Donny played well as did MDG at the back l don’t know what Clarke doesn’t like about Nwakali as he should be playing. I think it’s time for a new approach and play Cosgrove with Humphrey’s and DKD in mid field maybe next game to try this now Phillips is suspended. Sorry t use Russell as scapegoat but l feel Nwakali has to start too. I’d reinstate Bazza for O ‘Keefe. I’d recall Shepherd if possible as l rate him better than Earl. Don’t know if Josh was dropped or injured yesterday but Pines did well enough to keep his place.
Definitely a penalty on Humphry n their player should have been sent off in 1st half seen it back and he's gone for the player and not the ball. Need someone in January to put ball in back of net
A good game played in terrible conditions, why can't football be played in the spring and summer, it's not like Cricket is popular. Anyway,it's just odd moments in games that is costing Barnsley, that is bound to happen. We are in transition, after losing 5 players in the summer, starting a squad rebuild with a new coach, who meets the club's requirements. Some people want a new coach, why? It will take a couple more transfee windows to get a squad capable of getting promoted and making a fight of staying in the Championship. I think Barnsley fans need to be both patient and realistic. The main problem with the team as I see it,is there is no energy in midfield, no closing down, chasing back. As we have seen in the last 2 games, which good teams will exploit,a large gap between defence and midfield, and no protection in the middle of the pitch. For some reason, they are vulnerable to counter attacks,on another day George's tackle could have resulted in a penalty and sending off. The team should be set up, so that defenders don't have to chase. The penalty award could have been given a GG against Birmingham, but referees have always favoured bigger teams. Especially one's, which are giving the incompetent EFL exposure in the US. Harris's tackle was a straight red,not a yellow, I understand DCs anger and frustration at the end of the game, the team, referee, weather, the result. Birmingham, like Wrexham, showed they can find a way of getting a result. Injuries are part of football, that's why you have a squad, why Jalo gets injured is a mystery. As the great Paul Heckingbottom might have said, "Time for new heroes ". Have a great week everyone, nice to read comments from Birmingham fans.😊
As you say, Phil, it’s nice to read so many comments from Brum’s fans that are so reasoned & balanced - we’ve had some “salty” comments in the past but credit where it’s due - thank you, Brum fans
Have watched all the recent matches just haven't been online to comment. All the games have been much of a muchness, we've been the better side and mistakes at both ends ultimately cost us. We don't take chances and gift goals, it isn't a recipe for success. The ref was an absolute joke. I said to my Dad a few games ago I can see Clarke getting the sack before I make it to NZ in January. Would be a harsh decision as performances have been good but results are shocking and its a results based business.
Injuries seem to be coming, VC - Watters & Jalo look worrying. You’re right that our problems at both ends of the field are costing us dear. I hope you’re a lot warmer than we were last night - the high winds were swirling through the stands & the pitch & were freezing. I thought both teams did well to play any football at all. I’m sick of banging on about referees & tried to not do so here but it’s very difficult not to sound like a broken record 😊
@andrewsymcox3150 just the 32'c here so I was plenty warm enough 😂 I actually think we really miss Watters. We had our best spell playing him down the middle DKD and the left and Humphrys on the right. He offers pace and runs in behind something nobody else does. Currently we are carrying both Phillips and DKD as they offer nowt if they aren't scoring and neither are notching. I don't think personally you can play both in the same side. Phillips will be suspended next Saturday so we will see how we line up but personally I'd revert back to that 3 up front system.
It's just so disappointing that we continue to play well and get no return. In the key moments things just don't go our way. Penalty for Humphries? I have seen them given but I can see why the referee didn't give it. Humphries was leaning to fall backwards. We get on top in matches but we don't create clear cut chances, which means we don't score enough goals. And then at the other end we just keep on conceding soft goals. It was important not to concede straight after scoring. We gave away the ball in a central position and we were punished. Gent was very poor for the winner. Phillips was unprofessional for his 2nd yellow. The player was heading straight to MDG and no challenge needed to be made. Pines and MDG were immense at the back. Pines might be a better starter because he has struggled when coming off the bench. I know it can hard to get into the tempo of the match when you come off the bench. The whole team played pretty well but we are just not clinical at both ends of the pitch. And now it looks like we have injuries to key players. Hopefully Humphries just cramp. We may only have Cosgrove and Marsh to play up front next week. And Roberts has been our player of the season so far so we can't afford to lose him for an extended period. We are lucky to have no midweek matches for the next 2 weeks. We need 6 points to get our season back on track before the Xmas/New Year fixtures. Our season has had ups and downs. We started off looking a bit rocky and we all had doubts about Clarke. We got back on track and we thought we might be a chance to challenge for a top2 spot. The last few weeks have shown the limitations of the squad, and it will be a successful season if we make the top6. We will know more where we are headed after the next lot of 6 matches.
I think the ref bottled it. Humphrey's did play for it, but you would have backed Humphrey's to snack it in from there, so there must have been intent by the defender to bundle him over. These are usually given.
So the owners have to put millions of pounds of their own money in just to keep the club afloat and they're not backing the manager? An £8.2m deficit shows just how utterly crazy the finances are in the EFL. This is the 3rd division for heaven's sake! The wages at this level must be ridiculous. You could maybe point fingers at the recruitment team but surely not the owners. Reality is that League One is the club's level now and finances required to compete any higher are pie in the sky. Face facts before you start to criticise...
A fair analysis of the situation, Steve - I think the last 2 games have shown that we’re not that far off but still don’t have that cutting edge. Sadly, when we create a chance, I feel that we’ll miss it, unlike Brum’s (or Wrexham) - we need a cutting edge in the box in January
First half we (Brum) weren't at it tbh better second half Stano the difference hard to say Barnsley weren't worth a point going down to 10 made a difference too.
If people are honest with themselves about the shortcomings of the squad, I hope that they cut DC some slack and get off his back... Given what's at his disposal he's doing a decent job...Kelechi aside, I don't think there's anyone available who could definitely improve things...The shortcomings and lack of balance in the squad are certainly not down to the head coach.
@andrewsymcox3150 I totally agree... Given freedom to roam behind the strikers I believe that he'll be a real asset...As will our coach if he's backed by the powers that be.
Story of our season we huff and puff and end up without enough air to blow up a balloon. Can't wait for January and hope we show some ambition in the market. Now chance of playoffs if changes arn't made and i don't think changing manager will change anything.
Phillip's first yellow card was so soft Cochrane had to go off and now be possibly out of action. You can't have any complaints. Phillips is responsible for the sending off. EDIT: I stand corrected on this point. See replies below. The penalty shout, I've seen them given and I don't care who the player is, stay on your feet and fight for the ball. Stansfield was being pulled and could of gone down looking for the penalty but put the ball in the back of the net. Your player took the decision to drop like a sack of taters. No sympathy from me. The red card barely made a difference to the outcome of the game. The equaliser came before the sending off and the winner was from a set piece. Any road, thanks for being magnanimous Andy. KRO!
The first yellow wasn’t for his foul on Cochrane. He kicked the bottom of Phillips foot when he blocked the clearance. looked painful. Wish him a speedy recovery. His 1st yellow was later for a tangle with Laird which was very soft. Good luck for the rest of the season.
@@Tracymartin8 My bad Thank you for the correction, Tracy, and apologies. I've made an edit to acknowledge my error rather than simply redact the comment and referred to your correction. We know how shitty that sort of decision is as we've been on the wrong end of it ourselves. It is very frustrating. KRO!
I thought so but I hadn’t seen a replay when I banged on during the show. Hopefully, onwards & upwards for both clubs. I came on your Tilton Talk Away End ashore on Tuesday with Craig Courtney & feel that I’ve made a few bluenose friends this week - a good thing for football!
Clarke another manager not backed got to feel for him, too many players not good enough, but what do u expect with a board who are cheap when it comes to transfers and backing managers
Losing patience with clarke tbh .. we keep playing well and losing .. not taking points from the other promotion contenders but picking points up against lower teams . Not really good for a promotion campaign and sounds like a relegation battle . Similarities to Cheltenham fans views last season .. playing well not winning.. its not good enough .. time will tell but its not good .. im not sure hes the right man..
@andrewsymcox3150 I agree andy .. we need our head coach to start influencing games with his decisions aswell.. Phillips red card should mean nwakali starts but who knows .. we need a experienced coach at this level as a minimum not four learners
Andrew, I have to disagree with you about Birmingham being a good side. They are just like Wrexham, in my opinion. They were there for the taking. if we could stop giving away the ball in our third of the pitch & switching off at the back, they cannot beat us. And if we cannot score, we cannot win. We have failed to get promoted in the last two seasons because we are not scoring enough goals..
We need a cutting edge, Neil, to convert some of the chances we’ve created over the past number of games. Sadly (for us, not Brum), they had such players in May & Stansfield & were also able to bring on Jutkiewicz. I was amazed that either team could play any football - the swirling, freezing wind was blowing a gale both on the pitch & in the Stand.
Not a typical Blues performance today, missing key players due to illness and conditions were a leveller. We’re no Wrexham ! They are just a physical, direct team who seem to be having more than their fair share of luck,
@ the conditions were awful, Joe - I don’t personally think you’re like the directness of Wrexham at all. We were also missing 2 strikers through injury & a CB. Well done to both teams to play any football at all! All the best
Think birmingham are best in division and end of season will be proof as for weather and birmingham injuries we were not at our best but winning away when not playing well is a sign of a good team

I agree with you, Sam - I’ve been generally keeping away from X due to the toxicity - no one needs it in their lives 😮
Spot on Sam!
I'd expect him to know when you're two midfielders are on yellow cards to have the experience to bring nwakali on earlier . Not when we down to ten men which for long periods we may as well have been
@ I also felt Kelechi could have come on earlier, Marc
The cutting edge is clearly missing, JJJ! The conditions were awful so I thought both teams did well
A really fair summary, I thought Barnsley sounded the better team in the first half, that was according to what I heard on Radio WM, but Stansfield showed what a class act he is.
Earl was injured as I understand it, David. Personally, I rate Jack Shepherd & think he has something to offer us. I also like big Donny!
Definitely a penalty on Humphry n their player should have been sent off in 1st half seen it back and he's gone for the player and not the ball. Need someone in January to put ball in back of net
Everything in a nutshell, Peter! Spot on!
Barnsley well deserved a point over 99% of the game. The 1% was Stanfields first goal.
Absolutely true, Mark - very frustrating for us but Stansfield lives scoring against us (blast him 😊)
A good game played in terrible conditions, why can't football be played in the spring and summer, it's not like Cricket is popular.
As the great Paul Heckingbottom might have said,
"Time for new heroes ".
@andrewsymcox3150 just the 32'c here so I was plenty warm enough 😂
I actually think we really miss Watters.
@ it sounds like Max has had a setback, VC - if so, not good news as he was getting into the position to score
Delightful accent.
😂😂 even my whippet was cold, John! Take care
Lisa's husband, Andy here. If you thought our accents are delightful, you should have heard the opposition's. 😁All the best.👍
@ Bostin’ Andy
Fair & honest comments, Michael - on a cold Sunday morning where I’ve finally caught my wife’s cold, you’ve cheered me up
@andrewsymcox3150 I hope you are both feeling better soon
@ cheers, Michael
I think the ref bottled it. Humphrey's did play for it, but you would have backed Humphrey's to snack it in from there, so there must have been intent by the defender to bundle him over. These are usually given.
I’ve watched it back, Neil, & feel it was a penalty (albeit a soft one)
A fair summary, Mark! All the best for the season
Worried for us as we've only taken 2 points from 15, need a result at Exeter on Saturday to keep us in the mix at the top...
Spot on, the officials were awful. Another nail in the coffin for the EFL and football in general.
I tried not to bang on too much about the ref etc cos I’m doing it too much, Neil. It’s flipping hard not to though
MDG keeps giving the ball awayand getting nutmeged. He was ball watching again at the back post for the second goal.
I’ll have another look
It was George Gent, who was marking JS.
I agree, Denzil - made worse by Jalo & Watters out. For me, DKD isn’t a striker & needs to be able to move about the pitch
Like many clubs, we need a cutti g edge to finish off decent moves - Stansfield showed the way for this but that’s why he cost so much😊
Phillip's first yellow card was so soft Cochrane had to go off and now be possibly out of action.
KRO!
Sometimes, Paul, you have to be magnanimous in defeat 😂😂
The first yellow wasn’t for his foul on Cochrane. He kicked the bottom of Phillips foot when he blocked the clearance. looked painful. Wish him a speedy recovery. His 1st yellow was later for a tangle with Laird which was very soft. Good luck for the rest of the season.
@@Tracymartin8
My bad
Thank you for the correction, Tracy, and apologies.
I've made an edit to acknowledge my error rather than simply redact the comment and referred to your correction.
We know how shitty that sort of decision is as we've been on the wrong end of it ourselves. It is very frustrating.
KRO!
Not seen too much chatter from Birmingham fans abouf the penalty. Or the referee & housary.
A few have said it should have been given
Blues fan here, 100% that was a penalty good luck for the rest on the season
Thanks for the honesty, all the best for the rest of the season. Beaten by 15 million pounds
In the conditions, I thought we played ok, Reece, but we are certainly lacking in the final third
Bolton 3 Reds 1.
Merry xmas to all, hope i'm wrong.
I think January will tell, Marc - we certainly need someone to convert our chances, given ongoing injuries up top for Watters & Jalo
@andrewsymcox3150 I agree andy .. we need our head coach to start influencing games with his decisions aswell.. Phillips red card should mean nwakali starts but who knows .. we need a experienced coach at this level as a minimum not four learners
Oh dear shocking today!!!
known fact you are your most vunerable after scoring a goal Stanno deflated you and your fans.
Great goal to be fair but avoidable had too much time and space agree the instant equaliser killed us as well as the red card
It was poor by us straight after scoring - we’d deflated you & you became re-inflated & deflated us (a lot of air in & our 😊)
Andrew, I have to disagree with you about Birmingham being a good side.
@joeswift5296 On the day you were their for the taking just like Wrexham . Fact.
Think birmingham are best in division and end of season will be proof as for weather and birmingham injuries we were not at our best but winning away when not playing well is a sign of a good team
Bitter
Thank you, Tom, for your in-depth analysis 😊😊
Lisa's husband, Andy here. Bitter? It was bloody freezing!😁
@ it was a bit nippy, Andy
😂😂😂 fair enough was abit nippy like
You lot are shite dirty tactics and got 8 minutes added on
A bit unnecessary, soft lad😊😊
@ na ya just shite
