    7 years later ahaha thinking about hitting this spot tomorrow is it good in November and what lures should I use the catch the wipers and where?

    Wow- I learned something today- had no idea there were these type of fish nearby- looks like a cool spot and you caught some great fish- subbed to see what other cool fish you catch!!

    y'all had a good fishing day, here hybrids & stripers get up to & over 20#'s, my biggest hybrid was 17.8, finally got out yesterday & fished caught several stripers & hybrids, black bass, thinking of going again this morning, but my arms don't agree with me like they use to. best wishes Eve

      Evefishalots ! nope no finds, it's been dry as a bone here & any time I find a good piece there's always a video to follow, though I have turned back on the Fishing mode, time for filling the freezer for the winter

      Where in Florida are you moving? Miami area would blow your mind. Tampa has great fresh water and salt water fishing

    Recently moved into the Brandon area. Trying to catch me some of these big Florida bass. Where is the best place to launch a kayak in this canal and get on some bigns?

      There are Largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, bluegill, cichlids, catfish, bowfin, gar, crappie, red ear, red breast, warmouth

      Also at the other end by 60 where the jail is you can catch snook, juvenile tarpon and jacks on the otherwise of the dam

      +Timothy Crews I use spinner baits and roostertails to catch them. They will hit jerk baits also.

    Is it legal to fish all the way down to that structure? I thought you couldn’t go past the dog park

      You can fish anywhere along the bypass except by MLK where its fenced off

    Is the water here brackish? I went out all day yesterday at 301 and Harney for largemouth thinking it was freshwater.

      Yes that's fresh water there. Over by 60 is when it gets brackish. There's largemouth where you were.

      Honestly I've only been catching dinks the last couple weeks. I think the hot weather has them hiding.

      That is fresh water and I've lost count of how many fish I've caught there in the 8 to 9 lb range. (Largemouth)

      +Ralph Barton they fight opposite of a largemouth. They dig down instead of jumping, very strong

    I pass by that area all the time and never knew they had hybrid stripers. I used to striper fish in California and I really miss it. I also heard fishing by the Orient Rd Jail is supposed to be good snook fishing but don't know were to access to fish? Is fishing allowed where you guys were?

      Yes I fish all along the canal. You can catch snook, tarpon and Jack's down by the jail

    That fish that you helped out was an invasive species and you should have killed it or left it on the shore. It's a Plecostomus or armoured catfish some people call them. not 100% sure but I think you can be fined if you're caught releasing one back

      There's long noses gar tilapia Oscar's down by orient rd at the southern end of the canal you can fiend snook and juvenile tarpon
