Lee, as an American fan of UK rap, I have a much harder time following all the slang and pop culture references than I do the accents. THANK YOU for spending time to break things down a bit, at least enough for me to search on slang terms.

@@matthiasleggio3861 “Stick him up with the stick stick, he the shorter one, you can’t short me one” stick ‘em up is what you say to someone you’re about to rob and then the next sentence “shortest one” talks about the short end of a stick. The saying draw the short straw or stick means they’re unlucky because they have to do something that they didn’t want to or come out with an unfortunate outcome.
If an agreement can’t be reached, the practice of drawing straws was implemented, where one short straw is placed amongst longer straws and made to appear at the same length in one persons hand in a clenched first. The amount of straws has to coincide with the amount of people in the group. If there are 6 people, then 6 straws have to be present with one of the straws being short. Each person then pulls a straw, whoever pulls the short straw has to do the task that no one wanted to do and is considered unlucky. So Dave is saying the person is unlucky for being robbed and thus drew the short end of the stick because the person is now in an unfavourable situation. Dave is also saying that you can’t pull the wool over his eyes or you can’t get the better of him.

Is a double entendre. This could mean in terms of Daves success he is way far ahead than others who might be trying to compete with him and they are very slow in trying to match his speed. So “race me there, wait here, tortoise one” The word play In the precise moment Dave raps this line, you can see he is amongst the Aston Martin supercars which are considered to be super fast cars which connotes his line of “race me there”. When he says to “wait here” he’s saying actually you can’t race me just wait here I’m still coming out on top.
It can also be read or understood as “race me there, wait, hare, tortoise one. The hare and the tortoise is one of Aesop’s fables where a hare and tortoise race. Confident that the hare would win, because obviously he is considerably faster than a tortoise, before the finish line, he takes a nap. Unfortunately, the tortoise crosses the finish line as the hare overslept. Aesop’s fables usually have a life lesson to them, in this case you can be more successful by doing things slowly and steadily than by acting quickly and carelessly. However in Daves wordplay, it’s not about the fables meaning but more focused on the competitiveness of the hare and Dave winning as he is the tortoise and everyone else is the Hare (the losers).
Am i the only one who thinks the “one” by stormzy after every hook is so satisfying to hear and that is adds the extra sauce to this track?

It took a while to grow on me but I love this track. I think we're used to a different energy on drill beats but it actually sounds pretty fresh having Dave's calm and smooth flow on an energetic beat
