I use a 7'4" Heavy Favorite Balance rod. Its also a modfast tip. Works great. I am a little quick on the pull so the modfast helps the fish get it a little better before i give it the hammer.
This is great Mark, I'm 6ft 3inch, & a 7.5 or longer rod is too long, thanks for giving your setup on frogging, myself I would like to see something on swimbaits!🎣👍
Awesome video Mark! I'd love to see a jig set up tutorial. I fish a jig alot and catch alot of bass on it but love to dail it in better. Thank you so much bro
Next Serious "DROP SHOTTING ON BIG WATERS" 1. HOW TO FISH THE CURRENT 2. WEIGHTS 3. LURES 4. ROD 5. REEL 6. HOW TO POSITION TO CATCH SMALLIES 7. DETECTING THE BITE IN HEAVY CURRENT... I think that is it for now... After that, we can work on swimbaits, then cranking... Cosby of fishing, don't play with my emotions😁
Love this new series idea man!!!! I actually have a favorite 7'3" heavy rod as my froggin set-up with a 8 speed lews reel. Great video and looking forward to more set-up videos next how about swimbaits
I really love the rod and it is very easy to walk a frog and I have used several different brands of frogs and it has helped me to feel the walking motions on each of them!!!
hi Mark. I really enjoy watching your videos my brother. I cheer for you every tournament and truly appreciate the shared wisdom so that I can become a better bass angler. Hope we can cross paths someday. Your boat or mine 👍🏼😊
Awsome! I been throwing fluro, thinking bout changing to braid. And for sum reason, I find myself bending out the hooks, stock hooks seem to always be bent in to much. Next rig setup, (DROP-SHOT)......... there's a certian way to get that hook tied on that keeps it away from the main line and to stay up-rite in certian position. All of which I forgot.
Do a setup based on the season. Also explain water clarity compare vs cloudy days. The season would help I think as the yr goes on. Good video man. Had fun with frogs this weekend in Kansas with farm pond fish for bass. They were knocking the hell out of it!!
Nice. I just got the KastKing SpeedDemon Elite 8.6:1 for a frog reel. I been using the Lews Mach 2 combo which has been awesome, actually the cheapest set up in my arsenal but also the most reliable, never backlashed it once . Plus its Green! But stiil looking for a rod for the KastKing. Might just try a KastKing rod. I tried their reels last year for the first and was quite impressed, for the money they are tough to beat.... Definitely going to give this Favorite rod company a look though too!
Mark.....I'd love to see the set-ups you'd use in Florida (minus frog and punching set-ups).....I just moved to FL from up North, and it's so confusing down here to know when to use braid and when not to and when to use what action rods.....thanks again
Where in Florida? I’m central gulf coast side. Most of our ponds and lakes are murky low vis waters. I’ve had luck with braid and mono, using braid currently. Worms, speed worms with the curl tails work really well- watermelon red and junebug red for balance. Recent good luck with frogs on heavy lily pads. Tossing and working across the top. Trying to dance it in the little water surface between the pads. But I’m still learning and figuring things out.
Cuz I love that setup for frog fishing for Bass but I love to use a 7 foot ugly stick or a 6'6 ugly stick for Bass fishing with a frog the reel that I use is a711 gear ratio lews it works really good for Bass fishing.
Throwing frogs is my favorite way to fish. Most places i fish have heavy cheese mats. So i want to know what's your favorite frog for fishing mats? I mostly use River2Sea bullywa frogs.
I just can't see the need for a super high speed retrieve, myself. As far as I'm concerned, anything over 6:1 is overkill. I find it easier to reel faster with a slower retrieve than it is to slow down with a fast retrieve. I guess I'm old school, but that's the way I feel about gear ratios.
no no i disagree. its not learning anymore. you had to learn when fished moved and weather and so on. with ffs you see fish cast multiple baits till they bite. then you troll casting at a dot on a screen. its not a sport anymore adn all sponsored and pro will not sit and dog ffs, thats a fact.i have 2 graphs on my boat and al are garmin but do not own ffs.you have to be honest with yourself there is 80% less skill involved, its not hard to read it or hard to cast and watch it drop to the fish and wait. its a skill and experience to go out on a 10mph day partial cover and figure out where they are and what they are eating.clear example,dc caught 100lbs of fish a couple weeks ago.how much you think he would have had with out ffs? no where near 100lbs?
Thanks, Daniel, that was good, quick, understandable instructions.
The frog bite is going to be popping off in Northwest Wisconsin! Can’t wait!
That up-on-the-toes hook set is boss. Love the topical content Mr. Daniels.
Great idea for this series. Love the content! Keep teaching,we’re listening!
This is going to be the best series. This was brilliant
Thanks MDJ! Excited for the series!
Simply put thank you Mark

Looking into getting same rod , how do you like it ? Fast action sensitive enough to easily walk the frog?
I was looking at a heavy rod/ fast action myself. What do you think?
I really love the rod and it is very easy to walk a frog and I have used several different brands of frogs and it has helped me to feel the walking motions on each of them!!!
👍🏼 Budget Frog 🐸 Rod Thank You
Jig setup or crank bait setup! Great vid MDJ!

I want to see your PUNCH setup next! Punching is some close quarter combat fun
You gotta do these on the water.... potentially showing a catch or two

What up man I been wanting to learn how to get that drop shot rig right

I was just wondering what your set up was yesterday when you an Wheeler went fun fishing in your boat.
Keep this up Really good video
Deep cranking for deep structure rod like football head jig or etc
Punching setup. You used to used the Kistler 7'11" out here on the Delta what do you use now ?
Great stuff bro!! what frog do u use? want to see ur chatter bait setup.
What is a good knot to use with braid when frog fishing?
Caught a 6 ft gator on a frog last week. My setup 7'3" MH rod with quantum Smoke 7.5/1 ratio reel and 65 lbs Sufix promix braid
Keep this going
Right on! Love frog blow ups!
Awesome thanks
I'd like to see your Deep crankn setup
Will a polamore knot work on a frog with braide?
I’m finally getting my first Frog rod…7’4” 80# braid. I’m 6’ exactly 😅
good vid glad to know about the rod price and brand show me MORE
Hey Mark, would you please show a setup with chatterbaits/ swim baits. Trailer’s…please.
What is that jig set up looking like??
What do you have your gears set at
I been searching and I can’t find a 7’2 medium heavy favorite absolute rod
is the rod med heavy with fast tip or slow tip?
MDJ , are you using tape or a wrap on your rod grips
I heard not to spend high dollar on topwater bc you see the bite. Don’t need sensitivity. Sounds like MDJ does that too
Drop shot set up!!
What frog was that? The color was sweet
Lipless crankbait setup 1/2oz and 1/4oz
Texas rig and jig setup should be next
Dobnys 736 all the way , if you haven’t had a flying fish yet you will with that rod for frogs .
Does the color of braid matter?
What kind of reel was in this video
I was under the impression a heavy rod/fast action was the best for frogs and top water lures. I’m so confused.
What kind of frog is that? 🐸
please break down spinner bait
Favorite rods only has it in heavy not medium heavy
I’m a bigger dude at 6’2 and I love 7’2 rod don’t understand the people that frog with 7’6” plus rods
👁️🪶👁️
jerk bait setup im a short guy as well it's good to know not everyone uses 8ft rods for 🐸
If you don't like them frog blowups you need to seek some help. LOL Love it. Thanks for the info bro.
Drop shot covering water.
