- In this episode I visit Irie Mon Jamaican Restaurant located 507 S. Black hourse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ. Since their grand opening in Dec of 2021 they have been building up a nice clientele especially through their $9 lunch special. Watch and meet owner Winsome and she explains her beginning and bringing that NYC Caribbean cuisine to south jersey.

Everything looks hearty and delicious but that oxtail looks so tender,juicy and takes the icing on the cake.
oxtail is the filet mignon of stew meat.
Looks great I just wish it was in Cali.
I am a Jamaican raised in New York City, now living in South Jersey. Yes, you are absolutely right that it is so hard to find restaurants and Jamaican products down here-but no need to cross the bridge to try this spot. You are a blessing! Thank you.

I went today, I will continue to go Philly.. blame city with the goat.. not even spicy AT ALL and that's the purpose of Jamaica food good and spicy

We just had them for dinner tonight JL and it was great. Very sweet ladies working there and it was my wife's first time trying a beef patty! They only had 2 left and take 30 min to make more so if you want a bunch (and you do) call ahead and they will make em up for you! I asked.:) The Jerk Chicken was fantastic, grilled perfectly and you described it perfectly by saying it tasted like summer. It really did. The rice was so tasty, moist and flavorful and the oxtail gravy on it, kicked it up to another level. The mac and cheese was nice and creamy as well. Really enjoyed everything. We'll be going back especially for the patties, love them patties!
LOL I was gon say about how some of the Caribbean spots having a rep for having attitudes and I have experienced it being from New York.So it is reassuring to see how warm and welcoming this spot was.I will always support and comeback for great customer service especially when it comes to food.I wanna try that Mac and cheese 😋
At one stage if the shop wasn't renk then its not Jamaican. The cursing adds flavour to the food plus its a right of passage. Yuh soon get used to it.🤣

I grew up on Nuyorican food, my mom was Puerto Rican from E. Side Harlem. Now I live in the desert southwest. All Caribbean food is food for the gods, that plate looks delicious.
Ohh my Lord. I'm dying for good oxtails. My Mom used to make it stewed southern style in a a large crockpot. Whoeee and rice. Collard greens cornbread Mac and cheese etc. Jamaica in the house. Jerk chicken.🔥🔥🔥🤑🤑😘😘

Place near me does a Jamaican lunch special that’s awesome, it’s that size and comes with a drink for under $6 after taxes. GA

I live in Dallas..we have a spot that does 5$ lunch specials. The stew chicken is worth it. I always grab a patty and coco bread while I'm down there. Much respect to the Caribbean massive. Her saying she grills her Jerk is all i needed to hear..JL it's a must to add oxtail sauce on the rice, no matter what you ordering..🤣🤣🤣🤣 Trini 🇹🇹 by birth. You need to do a roti spot next.. blessing

YES !!! My kind of place, used to have one here in downtown Tampa $5-8 lunch, fill you up. Sadly it burnt down. Now an overpriced Asian buffet has moved in. $20 lunch menu, dinner even more

I was in the NJ area and decided to give them a play. The food is good. The greens and cabbage are cooked with veggies and exceptionally good. The wait is at least 20 minutes in line. Needs help. Paid $29.00 for two oxtails lunch specials ($13.00 each). Four small oxtails in each "special" and paid $2.00 extra for Mac n cheese. I didn't know until I read my receipt. Next time I'll go to Ron's and pay $20 for a generous platter.
Lol my mother and grandmother would always say that first taste the food before putting hot sauce ketchup or anything else added its respectful first to the food 😁🤣
if you know where Route 295 is, in NJ, get off at exit 28. go north about 400 feet (Black Horse Pike) and it's on your right

I'm salivatin' for that curry goat, but I'll take some that oxtail with the fat too. Got that same bottle of scotch bonnet sauce in the pantry, along with the ginger beer and some other sauces. Props to Irie Mon, certainly a blessing.

I think I heard of them, I'm in south jersey and I go too Philly as well, I normally go too Jerk Hut on south street but , lately they haven't had any goat.😔one question is the food spicy?

Yo you gotta check out Pho Asia. It's literally down the street from there, in the Audubon shopping center. I highly recommend the BBQ pork banh mi and the salt and pepper chicken wings. It's fire.

I wish he'd taste everything on the plates before saucing it up to the max. Like he opened the jerk didn't try it as is to see if they even deliver a savior bite alone and here comes pepper sauce.
