Try fast forwarding if it upsets you so much. Frankly I have no problem with the sponsored videos, but I'm a content creator. Do you have any idea how much work it is to create the videos they produce and how little YT actually pays? 🤷🏻♂

@@MountainBeaches I am no content creator but I watch a lot. Recently a Canadian guy living in the wilderness gave a very detailed account. He earns about 4.4 k monthly, while having about 30 k subscribers (plenty of views though). Also Good Simple Living from Idaho explained YT earnings in detail. You can also watch how other channels prosper. Trent and Allie from Utah have 3 employees and they bought a house in Salt Lake City recently. They also started partially demolishing their house, wasting a lot of materials in the process - all for content. Welker Farms from Montana built two beautiful spacious houses - all from YT earnings. Wonderful Life off Grid out of West Virginia built three or four blooming businesses on YT money. And so on. Now don't get me wrong. I like Martin very much, I watch his channel for years, I'm glad he can earn a lot. But 6 min commercials is a little too much. That's the only thing that I have issue with.

I figured it was the dog
In April of '23 we lost 2nd gear pulling out of on-street parking on an incline. We got it home sans 2nd gear and some questionable action on some of the other gears. We upgraded to a '94 that was parked for 9 years (fuel relay) ,managed to get it home, and switched tires as a first task. Its not pretty, weve replaced a few more parts, and in total havent spent that much and even less when you consider an alternative with vehicle payments.
I was worried it was Julie...Its a toyota, we can fix it!!!

So far you just made your viewers unhappy. This isn’t you. You tried, but so far not much extra views, just extra comments (complains).

If you want to gain more views (money from YT) than try to figure what your viewers want to see
Gaining more views because of a clickbait title is not a long term solution. People will skip your videos because majority are not interested in unnecessary drama
You guys have a good channel and I don’t see a reason to ruin it with clickbait title like this.

I’ve been a subscriber for a very long time. Your increasingly LONG commercials are detracting from your channel. I pay TH-cam every month for no commercials but it doesn’t stop yours. I realize that it helps with your income stream but it doesn’t require you to make such long commercials. Please think about that.

They gave a very good, deep, descriptive storyline on how that vehicle played a critical role in their family and lives for the past years and how it was pivotal towards how you have seen their videos until now ... and many of us have had that favorite car/truck/van in our past as well - I know I had a 68 VW Microbus that I just wish I still had today ... so come on - enjoy the humor part of the story. Wow...When I recycled an old van I got $700 something. Then years later an old ford van around $350. Now just $100 something? In another few years we'll have to pay to get them to recycle. FYI my 2013 Toyota Corolla has 205,500 just on time oil changes and filters and she's still running strong just doesn't smell new 🤣 and she's got more dents than I've got scars...

Hey guys, I've watched you for years - but the thumbnail and title was a bit much. You guys don't need to play on people's emotions to get views, then to stick a 5 min sponsor slot in the middle - not too classy. We understand the sponsored slots - it's necessary we get it - but that was a bit much. Still love the channel, looking forward to seeing how the porch turns out.

What a shame for doing that to a Toyota. Really a crushing yard! For what money you all have put into the off grid living equipment and well drilling, that Toyota could have been repaired probably for very little and giving new life. Find a good mechanic somewhere near, they could have helped you get her going again. Doesn't seem to be that old either. Wow. Ok.

so putting a few thousand into it to make it a runner would not net you more in a sale than $100? I find that hard to believe unless both the engine and tranny require full replacement. selling any vehicle that is less than 20 years old solely for scrap value seems odd to me.

Sad to hear that you sold it to a crushing yard. The frame, if not rusted is in demand. The quarter panel was never available as a replacement part. It could have brought a lot of money if parted out, or sold to the right buyer. You’re right in the mileage range where the head gaskets tend to fail on the 3.4L V6, but I personally would have kept her going because even the new Toyotas aren’t as reliable and won’t go as far as your 98’ and factory parts are still available for almost everything on it.

I would have replaced the transmission torque converter and flywheel.
That was an option but we didnt want to spend the money on her.
The attachment we can make with our vehicles is spiritual to me. I have a 1970 C-10 pickup that I named Bessie when I bought her in 1987. I used her in a landscaping business I owned back then and I also drove her as a primary vehicle for a few years. She is the most awesome truck and I say hello to her every time I'm near her lol. I can no longer drive due to my vision and I'm going to sell her. It's heartbreaking to know my friend of the last 37 years will be leaving. I'm female and I know we get a little emotional about things lol, but I do love that truck.
