Their mother's death affected them all, but it really tore Twinkie down. Twinkie said, musically, her mother was her muse & that died. So, she went through a "dry season" creatively for quite a while plus she felt she was becoming irrelevant in music & nobody was interested. So, that's what that was about.
Remember that they have been singing since little girls at least the age of four yrs of age. They had the world's greatest teacher, Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark, so the harmony is second nature for them. Yes in person is the same if not greater. I love them and their sisterhood on and of stage!

I've always admired the Clark Sisters' taste in clothes and hairstyles in addition to their wonderful voices. They always appear flawless, not a hair out of place.
That makes perfect sense...out of all of them, you can see Mattie's influence all over Twinkie (and Dorinda often, too). I remember watching some old video where she said something to the effect of "my mother made me give all the parts, and eventually I learned to like it." She's too blessed to be so stressed...keep her in your prayers!

I've seen a few live performances of "Pray for the USA", and Jacky is usually singing alto when Twinkie is leading...Dorinda usually sings the low part. Someone else said that Jacky only sings low when she has to, and I agree; Dorinda is a much better low singer than Jacky.

Have you noticed that lately, whenever she is on TV performing, she no longer uses "Twinkie Clark-Terrell"...it's just Twinkie Clark. It's not often that we get to hear the real reason why couples divorce...

Oh, and there are definitely some overdubs going on with this song, even though the girls are singing along.
I actually liked Twinkie's dress, I wouldn't wear it but I thought it looked cute for her. I also liked her hair & enjoyed her spirit in this video. Twinkie used to be filled with joy & character, lately....she act like she don't wanna be no where.
