I just bought the Pocket 386. It's basically the Hand 386 but in Book 8088 form factor. More ports and less bugs! Also has a much better display and functional keyboard! Definitely worth the $200 price tag.
Hopefully you'll bring these back some day. I already have the regular Picogus, which is great, but I'd love to get one of these for the new Pocket 386.
I really like that project of yours, because it is a clever cost effective adaptable design which actually does have a future contrary to working with chips that aren't even produced anymore. 👍
I collect Windows CE palmtops and spotted this unit and really am interested in getting it. I use Open Dos on my 360LX but because of the HW its not compatible with a lot of software. This unit you have is a full 386 so i can actually install certain programs. Id like to find a used one if possible, so im keeping my eyes out for anyone selling a used one. But i may just have to bite the bullet and order a new one. But this is right up my ally this unit. Thanks for the video.
Do they still make this add-on for sale? With the new release of the far superior Pocket 386, I feel that this thing would sell a lot better, but I can't find it anywhere.
I sold a batch of 50 a while ago but I am not making any more because they are time consuming to assemble. There is a serious issue with using these on the Pocket 386 when the laptop is plugged into power that can cause damage to external audio devices, so I don't recommend using it on the Pocket 386 until there's a new revision.
could probably make a hand386 adapter with a PCIe to ISA bridge... it would be fine on a x1. LPC also a possibility, but DMA is a bit nonstandard there.
i was thinking... do you think its possible to port the pico gus to say an awe32 on the cdrom pinheaders? or say build a mpeg encoder/decoder for those pinheaders? or perhaps on the wavetable side of things? like a pico gus/ mpeg encoder / decoder. i was alos thinking, what if the mpeg encoder decoder ran on a card like the awe32, and i could connect say a sata or pata hard drive to it so i could listen to my mp3's through hard ware decoding instead of software decoding... im running a pentium 3 800mhz and its still slow to use win98. just an idea, i say the panasonic/mitusbishi/whatever pinheaders because they are there and they arent being used making room for more expandability on the card. also this lezves room for sound blaster suport on a gus on the cd rom headers, and also gives the chance of using the GUS on the SBAWE32 while using the gus for music and the SB side for sound effects..... i know you are working on alot of things, im asking i scan you atleast give it a thought...
I made a batch and sold out at VCF Midwest. I'll be making another one and will reply back when they're ready for purchase! They'll be on my Tindie store.

What 386 clockspeed does it run at (or compare with?)
@@SanderSmit77 It's essentially a 40 MHz 386SX coupled with an AdLib music card and a Cirrus 5422 VGA card
@@tomrow32 sx so it has a 16 bit bus, not 32 bit like a dx?

Simply amazing! So very glad to own this now, thanks again!!
definitely interested in the full capture of future crew's demo

SUPER COOL!
This is so inspiring. I ordered a drop in replacement. I’m excited to code for it to do all the things I wish I could do when I was a kid.
This is unbeleivable! Can i order one somehow? Second Reality with full sound!
this is soooo cool my dude
Wireless network via modem emulation?! For real? That would be awesome! I guess I need to buy a pico with wireless network function beforehand.
Would love to buy one too!

I see SB is coming soon, any plans for the original Pro Audio Spectrum? That was 8 bit and way expensive and rate these days.
Cool
now all that's missing is a pc-104 version and I'll be the happiest person in the world!
Really excited to get this for my hand386 and keeping an eye on tindie for it.

Hello! Are these ever coming back in stock? Would love to get my hands on one and avoid paying for pcb manufacturing....😢
I want to listen some game musics.
Like Descent, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D and so on.
Interwave emulation?

@@ianpolpo Good to know, thank you for the update!
it's out of stock i really want one
why not a 90 degree connector? so the hand 386 pico gus' PCB runs front to back so it does not stick as bad
How can I find out when you put them up for sale? I am dying to get one

How do I install Dos 3.0 to the hand? Through the USB port?
Where can we buy these today?
will this work with the new pocket 386?
If only you could do one of those boards using PCI or PCIexpress!
