This is so true. I find myself using major scales over pentatonic more often than not. It adds so much more context. The only problem is, it's less forgiving

Context is the perfect word for it. Those major scale notes are what bring out all the chord color. It is impossible to “play the changes” with 1 pentatonic scale. Gotta get that color back in there.

I have been doing the sing song thing even when I was playing flute for worship and when I write my own licks/hooks I do this. I like the shapes of your Scales better as it's easy for guitarists like me who have smaller hands to play. Also, when getting lead parts, when reading from tablature I find that the tablature is written by guitar players with really wide and long figures including the baby finger. That's why I look at the Standard, also called Music Notation, to get my parts. For me that's easy because of playing recorder and flute before picking up the guitar. The other thing I've done is to learn where all the notes are on all 6 strings. I got a start on learning where all the notes are on the guitar by doing the same on my Tenor Electric Ukulele first and then I only had to learn the A string. I knew the 1st 5 frets from when I first started playing guitar. I also began writting music with my Mollenhauer recorder when I was 11.

Also, a part is easier to learn if you hum it first. And when you're writing if the lick/hook is something you'd hum chances are the congregation will pick up on it too.

Hi Jonny. Dif you ever make parts 4 and 5?

😳 I haven’t. I need to add chords and probably dynamics. Are there any other fundamentals you can think of that would be helpful?
      I’ll make those videos next.

Thanks for all you do! Love the content. I noticed the G10. What amp are you using with it?

Thank you! Usually, it's either a Fender twin or a heavily modded Mesa Nomad. I don't have any of the amps they sync with.
I've had two of the wireless units for 4+ years. They have been amazing. Always ready to go to work when I am. I highly recommend them.
