Steve said there was a time when he couldn't even stand to hear Stephen Hendry's name being mentioned and that he resented his very existence. I really hope that is all behind him now and that this video really is a sign of that.
I still remember his first TV interview with David Vine after he beat WC Terry Griffiths. He was an arrogant Farquhar! He basically implied that Griffiths had no business being on the same table as him. Thank fuck he's grown up a bit since then.
Davis had no one to push him in the 80s. Its hard to improve when you can beat everyone. He was on the decline when hendry was on the ascent. Both guys ended other players careers, they didn't just beat opponents, they sucked the life out of them. Poor Mike hallet suffered at the hands of both these guys. (As did many others, Thorne, white etc)
It's like two old timers reminiscing except they both aren't that old comparatively. Stephen Hendry has come out of retirement. All that remains is for Steve Davis to do so too! 😀
Hendry is really uncomfortable listening to all of Ronnie's records even back then. No wonder he's coming back in 2020... Davis with his 6 and a half world championship wins, lol! Kinda true too! Love him! 😂😂
Ronnie has won 6.... everyone at the Crucible was on his side cheering him on, Stephen 7 world titles at the Crucible and no one in that room wanted him to win, especially against Jimmy....massive difference, incredible achievement.
But Ronnie won 6 even though long session snooker doesn't suit him at all with his psychological problems whilst Hendry's style of play and mental state suits the longer session way more.
@@Ganstaz003 nope longer frames suit osullivan more as he ca dip in and out mentally and still win. Hendrys game required more consistency and concentration which is more demanding
Stephen made a total show of Steve Davis here. First Davis asks Stephen how many UK finals did Stephen win. And then has the front to say his strike rate must be poor in the UK Championship Forgetting that Stephen beat him in 2 UK finals 1989 and 1990. And not to forget Stephen hammering Steve 9_3 in the 1988 UK semi final also. Then coming off of his own achievements, Steve has to bring Ronnie into the equation. This chat was all about Stephen v Steve, Not Ronnie v Stephen. Steve Davis showed a very biased side in this chat. Knowing that deep down Stephen was a cut above him. Steve Davis couldn't cope with Stephen winning so much in the 1990,s. Steve remembered how he dominated in the 1980,s. But perhaps if Davis changed his game and thinking by being much more attacking against Stephen instead of being extremely worried by how good Stephen wss, Then Davis could of done better for himself. Playing a 1970,s way against Stephen was never going to work for Davis. That's his own fault. He was too single minded and too proud to adjust. Which in effect made Steve Davis the past in snooker. The game left Davis behind big.
Hendry is hardly stephen lee,it was more to the fact he just lost his game it happens to everyone and usually into the mid to late 30s in snooker, ronnie is a bit of a freak in that sense that hes still playing amazing.
One of the main reasons he retired was because his cue which I believe was a one piece at the time, was damaged on the way through customs to or from China and the next cue he picked up never felt the same, so he could never play his A-game ever again! Such a shame, I would have loved and would have paid great money to see Stephen Hendry vs Ronnie O'Sullivan in a World Championship final! Hopefully Ronnie can defend his title next year and then they both reach the final the following year to battle it out for title number 8 🙏
