It is cool! It's a very user-friendly roguelike that is kind of based in first edition DnD, so it's right up yer alley!
Darkgrey ingame font on black background and dark, tiny graphics - brrrr, not for my fathers son (do you have a giant monitor? I don't).
I don't have a huge monitor either--I think I'm just used to DCSS and other indie and/or older roguelikes so the small graphics don't rankle me haha ;)
