Jeez. How does a guy as genius as Thomas Dolby not get the recognition he deserves. This one of top ten albums ever. The production on it is fantastic. I think I heard he placed an ad in the paper (yah. back when people used the news paper for that kind of thing) to find the musicians he used on that album.
Love Thomas Dolby from Airwaves to one of my submarines to Airhead to blinded me with science and Keys to her Ferrari.and many more ..thank you mate pure genius
Dave Sanderson but a lot of people I know, thinks it’s not the best and also think the other albums are better than this... these are different points of view 😉
The album peaked at number 30 on the UK Albums Chart. The lead single from the album, "Airhead", peaked at number 53. Second and third singles, "Hot Sauce" and "My Brain Is Like a Sieve", peaked at number 80 and number 89, respectively. In the US, the album peaked at number 70. all these should be changed to # 10 .
Nice to see that he was married to her and she gets to introduce him ( Thomas Dolby ) as her husband wow that is great. I had no idea he would B on the late show. I was in college and didn't watch TV. But I got that CD!
Imagine a full concert at this occasion. GOLD. YOUNG and supremely ahead of his time. Thomas, The whole album is a masterpiece. Thank you! Is there any more live footage like this?
She played Kirby Anders, Joseph's daughter, on "Dynasty" and was in the film "The Betsy" w/Tommy Lee Jones, Laurence Olivier, Robert Duvall, Jane Alexander & Leslie Ann Down.
letterman's nbc show was "late night with david letterman" "late show" was a fox show which had 3 different hosts; ross schaeffer, joan rivers & arsenio hall
Wow! His wife is hot! This show was called the Late Show? The only Late Show I know is David Lettermans' show. I wish there was video of Mr. Dolby at the 1988 Rose Bowl concert.
Which is a Rick James riff. Great observation. There's another song on the album (Pulp Culture) that lifted an Edge riff from U2's Bullet the Blue Sky. If you're gonna steal, steal from the best. lol
He most probably did lol....I don't think I have ever had anybody take such an interest in my You Tube history lol....If you want to find out more you only need to ask.... I love the 80's scene as you may have gathered but I am always searching for new stimulating music to listen to...in the 80's there was lot's of electronic music to listen to from Kraftwerk to OMD to New Order to Depeche Mode aswell as Thomas Dolby who has always been quite eccentric as you can see, I actually saw him towards the end of 2013 and was sat only 10 meters from him, that was amazing, I love going to concerts and have been to loads. My taste has evolved into Trance especially Solarstone and Chicane but lately it's all samey samey so I'm trying Psybient especially Koan. But I like normal stuff aswell and I was brought up on Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp and 10CC, my musical taste is extremely varied, pop, rock, electro, trance and even classical. Anyway hope my History wasn't to shocking lol.
Same as myself really. My dad was into everything. Always listened to John Peel as I did. (Hence the good taste). Seems as though we were brought up with the same music. I'm actually listening to Supertramp right now lol. You seem to have the same tastes as myself. I have been delving back into alot of old music lately. It's getting so expensive to buy vinyl now though. Yeah I love everything from Classical to Trance, RnB/Soul/Motown to Deep House/Oldskool even some Country/Rock, Indie, Dark Wave, New Romantic, Electronic etc. I just cannot abide boyband (A term I will never understand (group yes, band no) and music (if you can call it that) that should never see the light of day. Oh and I'm interested as you have the same tastes. Very rarely comes up with people I meet or know. Good to chat to you
0:56 The perils of playing a keyboard round your neck, singing into a mike while hoping you're playing the right chords. Ouch!!! :) Or is it a minor 7 flat 5 add 2 (no third)?? Personally I think he slipped.
Brought the album and 12" singles back then, but it was a total flop. Probably did better in LA? I bought Astronaut & Heretic's and the three 7" singles despite not liking the album or singles, but just because I was a fan of his early eighties synthpop. So yes, that album died an early death in 1992.

Agreed! One of those rare albums that you can listen to from beginning to end. No filler.
My ole bandmate Mike on synths...and displaying his dancing talents. ;) R)

One of my favorite albums of all time! Very well written, well played, well recorded, sounded awesome back then and still does today.
Karr Knutt I totally agree with you
To be fair LOADS of people I know actually think it's his best.....so dunno, is it underrated??

@@davidsanderson5918 It think it's "zany" (mid 80's) style was slightly behind the times. As Ferris Beuller remarked, "things move fast" in the 80's

i saw this tour in toronto and it was fantastic. all the players were amazing!
This is what the 80s were all about talent like this .
Kathleen Beller is also a tremendous actress. Surprised more people here don't realize who she is.
Kathleen is a goddess.
She played Kirby Anders, Joseph's daughter, on "Dynasty" and was in the film "The Betsy" w/Tommy Lee Jones, Laurence Olivier, Robert Duvall, Jane Alexander & Leslie Ann Down.
Absolutely loving it.
Great band!!
Serious edit at 1:54 cut out about 1 minute or so of the song.
AWESOME
I happen to like that jacket!!!!
no wonder he stayed indoors a lot .
I saw him live in S.F. doing it. Talk about together...
I am a straight woman, but damn, Thomas Dolby's wife is totally adorable
That's okay, I'm a straight man and I think so too.
letterman's nbc show was "late night with david letterman"

And Mr. Bartlett.
Nice Video

By that time certainly a wig or a bald cover up hat

I don't hear an off chord.
This is what happens when people, who should be in the audience, end up on the stage.
Stublinsky
Ha! So true.
Haha I’d like to see you try
What does this comment mean?
Is this he met his wife 1st time?
This song was written with Paris Hilton in mind

Is that former Zappa drummer Chad Wackerman on drums?
neechee5150
no thats def. not chad!
I take comfort in the idea that suit is probably full of moth holes rotting in a damp storage bin somewhere. Rot in hell, that suit.
tuning issues and poor fashion choices means TMDR doesn't do himself justice again!
He lost his musical way when he went to America.
