  • The RuuviTag is a microcontroller and sensor node that reads temperature, relative air humidity, air pressure and motion information so it can be sent directly to your Android or iOS smartphone, laptop, or Raspberry Pi, over Bluetooth Low Energy. Best of all, it is open source!

    Is it good to have many cameras in a phone (like Huawei mate 20 pro) or is it good to have a single camera and boost performance in software ( like pixel3)?

      You cant get the best out of hardware without good software , just the same as good software wont make up for meh hardware , you need a combination of both .

    Can I use it as a tag ?? Maybe I can place one in my gate & glue some on my vehicles and and whenever one is being shifted moved earlier one will track and will send the message for something can that be done ?? Means a burglar alarm for each and everything precious he he 😋

      I was thinking of something similar. put on a door or window and you would know when it is opened. We'd need a cellular antenna module to broadcast the info everywhere you are tho.

      The data can be picked up by a Rasperry Pi Zero W (which only costs $10) and then sent elsewhere via the Internet, even using an online SMS service!

    Do you think this is secure because it uses Bluetooth.. 😬😬

    • @GaryExplains
      @GaryExplains  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't secure at all. The data is broadcast openly, no pairing, no encryption. But... But.. Are you worried about someone stealing information about the air pressure in your cellar???

    • @ruuvicom
      @ruuvicom 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is basically no limit because the devices are broadcasting only. No pairing is required. One of our customers has over thousand RuuviTags broadcasting in the same room. Interval is slower than the default 1Hz we use to avoid packet collisions but still.

  • @OldieBugger

    Dammit, I came here to watch this video just because I wondered about the name Ruuvi ("screw" in finnish). But now I'm hooked. My next step: find some company to buy it from.
    EDIT: Oh, lovely! It's really a Finnish company, so the postage will be minor.
