As someone who goes to both Costco and Sams Club, Costco is definitely the winner for me. Costco has better prices, better quality, better warranty (when buying home items), variety of items, better credit card perks, and has a lot more organic products. Even though it has a higher membership fee, in house item prices are slightly lower. They also have an optic center, photo center, pharmacy, tire center, business center, travel, food courts, and some even have gas stations which have better and lower prices. Not to mention Costco pays and treats their employees way better than the national average. I have to say Sam’s club is more of a business center and better to buy bulky items.
With a family that big you need an extra fridge and it wouldn't hurt to buy a stand up freezer either. I have a family of 5 plus a dog and I have an extra fridge extra freezer regular fridge and a whole walk in storage pantry. I rotate my stock consistently. The only thing I buy weekly is dairy and bread and fresh produce.
Just a tip for Aldi if you ever don't have a quarter again - I used to work there and we were encouraged to hand out quarters as cashiers if a customer came up and asked for one, so you can always just go ask an employee for a quarter and they should get you one! :)
Also (I know I’m a bit late) but a tip is worth having…..right 😊if your like me and carry keys along with your car keys then if I forget my cart token I just slip off my small Yale key and the round part fits all these carts 👌
My Husband and I have been making our own homemade Vanilla, and this year we did some research on booze to use. Bourbon will actually give it a much richer taste. we are making our own this year with Rum to see how we like it.
Even pre-Covid, I bought toilet paper ever time it was on sale, so when it was so scarce, I had at least a six month supply and didn't have to worry about purchasing any. Perhaps I had too much but I bought one or two packages on sale at a time and never cleared shelves. So others were able to purchase during pandemic.
Hi friend! Just a little tip for Aldi...keep a quarter or two under your vehicle’s floor mat 😁 This will be known as your “ALDI Quarter” lol Bring it out when you need it and put it back when you’re done with your trip. Edit to add: you can also ask your cashier to lend you a quarter. They should be able to give your one.
We pay 10% tax in Australia, but the difference is that it's already included in the price of that item and/or service (such as hairdressers, massage parlours, osteopaths, etc.). However, there are some items which are tax-free, meaning that you don't pay tax on those items.

In Europe Costco is in England and Germany (I think). The rest of us can't relate to buying 50 pounds of flour at a time. But we also don't have the same distances that some Americans have to the grocery store. Also our need for bulk shopping isn't the same. Smaller families and not the same fear of not being able to feed our family during a crisis. Maybe something that we should have a little in mind.
Hello. I'm from the Uk we do have Costco but not Sams Club. For most Cash and Carry Shops you do need a business. However at Costco, if you work for a certain firm ( Police, Fire, Ambulance that kind of thing and others) you can get a card
I have Sam's, Costco and BJ's wholesale clubs all within a mile of each other. Sam's is my personal favorite. I buy most of our bulk items there. But not everything. I am very frugal and using the apps, I price comparison. And cutting up a pork loin for chops and a roast is really very easy and the whole loin is usually cheaper by a good amount so...
Bulk shops aren't common in the UK. We have Costco, but only a few across England. There's a couple that are for businesses only. I think that we buy a lot more store brand than Americans seem to which makes it cheaper. Its also quite uncommon to have a large enough family to need that quantity of food, and largely we don't need to have a stockpile as we don't get the extreme weather etc. :Family sized" foods are usually for 4, maybe 6 people and that's the largest amount a single item comes in most of the time. I personally have never known anyone that shops for an entire month at once either, most shops just for 1 week at a time. A good portion of people get paid every week or two weeks rather than every month which makes a difference too. A lot of things people seem to get from the bulk stores aren't considered an item that needs to be bought in large quantities here either. For example fruit snacks - they're not really a thing in the UK, and what we do have are more "healthy" versions. Most schools have limits on what you can send in your child's lunchbox and for snacks so you often can't send crisps and sweets etc. I also think we don't eat as much meat as Americans seem to. A massive difference is simply not having the space to hold bulk amounts of food and household items. Very few houses have pantries, so you have to keep all your food items in the cupboards in your kitchen. It's also not that common to have giant fridges and multiple freezers. Our food also doesn't last as long because of the limits on additives and preservatives we have.
I agree with what you've said. It's the same in Australia. I have heard of people going and shopping at Costco every one to three months due to distance from their closest warehouse. One family even stays over the night at a friends or family's house due to Costco being so far away. In the case of living far away, they do a rather big shop each time they go.
I’ve never been to a sams club, but I’ve heard that Costco had a lot more organic/healthy items, which I appreciate. We are moving this summer though and we’ll only have a sams in our new area so I guess we shall see how I like it!

I don't know if anyone has told you this already, so sorry if it's a repeat, but usually you can just go inside and ask for a quarter and they'll give it to you. Then you just bring it back when you're done!
I live in New Zealand and our tax is included in the price for everything we buy. Tax is 15% here. Was 12.5% until a few years ago it got raised to 15%. But if you run a business you can claim the tax back for the products bought for that business.
@@Thegrocerylady we didn't really notice much difference when it was raised. It's more a problem now with the cost of food and fuel skyrocketing. Inflation is happening but wages haven't gone up yet sadly.
I've been debating Sam's. But most of what you have picked up I get cheaper at Costco. But...I may just try Sam's for a year to see of I can get a bit more variety in the house. We can only eat the same things so much 🤣

The cheese it's is a good deal we eat alot of them the family size bag at Walmart is $4.98 it's equivalent to 1 bag out of the box. My mom keeps a quarter in her ash tray and that's her Aldi quarter. Those containers from Walmart are so nice they will hold 20 pounds of sugar, flour, rice and I believe beans too I have 6 of them they are awesome. The meat department at the store will cut them the way you want them for free. I buy it like that and I got 15-20 pork chops for 6.00 at Krogers. You just tell them the thickness and cut you want. They give it back to you cut and wrapped.
I did the "no quarter" Aldi dance yesterday...the sale on salmon was so exciting I forgot to buy the pickles which I had originally gone to buy! Thankfully it was a slower time so I hiked back inside for those pickles!
Ok , do you want me to blow your mind? I live in Turkey. Minimum wage here is hourly almost 16 lira. Totally! For some reason it just doesn't look as appetizing in the big long tube, but people have told me Sam's club will cut it up for me. I'm really considering it!
@@Thegrocerylady Ooo that’s a great idea!!!!!
We just cut up a big guy ourselves last night. Paid $23 bucks for our big guy and made fajitas last night as well as 4 packs of 5/6 steaks.
I am working on my minimalist journey and I am almost to the end of it however I do have a rather large proper pantry downstairs and it’s exactly for the reasons of what you say because some things are getting harder to fine and for the fact I just want to stock up for those days that I don’t want to go to the store I don’t wanna order delivery my kids or I have gotten sick multiple times in the last couple of weeks due to the fluctuation in our crazy weather here in Missouri and maybe it’s just because I don’t feel like even looking at grocery store items lol unless they’re in my basement that is it makes meal prepping so much easier when you already have on hand what you need now my prepper pantry is downstairs in my basement and it’s multiple shelves and it is packed rather well but again it’s stuff I’m going to use and it’s stuff that I rotate on a monthly weekly and daily basis
That’s fantastic. It looks like you have a system that works for you. How fun that you’ve been on a minimalist journey - me too! It’s a work in progress, but I love it.
I don't know if anyone has told you this already, so sorry if it's a repeat, but usually you can just go inside and ask for a quarter and they'll give it to you. Then you just bring it back when you're done!
A few people mentioned that. I asked my Aldi about this and they didn’t seem as open to helping. 😬
Big hello from Portugal. Those stores are for business and big family status!
Hello to you in Portugal! ❤️
I live in New Zealand and our tax is included in the price for everything we buy. Tax is 15% here. Was 12.5% until a few years ago it got raised to 15%. But if you run a business you can claim the tax back for the products bought for that business.
We have something similar where you can claim items on your taxes if you have a business. And wow that’s a big raise in taxes. No fun.
@@Thegrocerylady we didn't really notice much difference when it was raised.
It's more a problem now with the cost of food and fuel skyrocketing. Inflation is happening but wages haven't gone up yet sadly.
@@Daniiiiikay ☹️☹️☹️
In the uk the tax is already included in the price so there’s nothing added on at check out
I've been debating Sam's. But most of what you have picked up I get cheaper at Costco. But...I may just try Sam's for a year to see of I can get a bit more variety in the house. We can only eat the same things so much 🤣
I totally understand that. You can only eat the same thing so many times.
Hello from Germany 🤗 Like your videos a lot and my husband also comes from Illinois (Belleville). Enjoy your day and have a Merry Christmas 🎄
Wow! Small world. Are you German or stationed there or… ?! Merry Christmas to you!
@@Thegrocerylady I'm german 🙂 I met my husband back in 2010 when he was stationed in Kaiserslautern. So far we are still here, but maybe move to the states in 2024. It is nice to see you in your videos since you come from his area. Makes me calm down for the big move in the future 🙂👍
Costco’s in the uk are huge. We have bookers and cash and carries that are smaller and only for businesses
Sams has way more snack foods. Costco has healthier options and more convenience meals and a better meat dept
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who likes listening to people speak in their first language. In my country the general feeling is that if people live here then they should learn English and it's rude if you don't.
I certainly think it’s helpful to learn the language of the country you’re in, but at the same time staying true to your own roots is very important!
a tip the sam and cocto ae name brand battries are the store brand battries i work at coscto
If you take the package and you cut them up you will get three times the amount of pork chops that are in the package you have to look at the unit price is cheaper to buy the tenderloin I cut them yourself or have the butcher cut them they will do it
I'm really really considering that!
I keep an Aldi quarter in my cup holder in my car so I always have one
I need a designated Aldi quarter spot!
As far as my area that I live in now I prefer Cosco over Sams Club, just bc I think it has a better verity. But back home where I grew up I really liked Winco. Mom an I shopped there all the time and you didn't need a membership. That so far is the only place I've seen where you could buy stuff in bulk by the pound out of bins fresh, Dry goods, like nuts & cereals & candy. I miss it.
Love bulk out of bins dry goods. We have a place called Harvest Market. You can even grind your own peanut butter. Pretty cool place.
I'm the UK we have a key fob that you can buy with the trolley coin on them. I'm sure you must have them in the US too? Then you never have to worry about having a coin with you for Aldi.
Hmmm... very interesting. I'll have to look into that! Thank you.
STIR FRY RECIPE:
Asian stir fry noodles
Chicken breast
Red, yellow, orange, and green bell pepper
Probalono pepper
Spinach
Mushrooms
Onion
Grilled pineapple chunks
Sweet and sour sauce
Throw it all in a pan and sauce it up, I usually only add pepper and garlic powder when I’m cooking the chicken breasts. It’s sooo good!
Sounds really tasty! Do you use a pre-made Sweet and Sour or make your own? I made my own the other night and it was delicious!
I was told because I use a ton of vanilla as well to buy a bottle of vodka now my household does not drink alcohol but I’m thinking about getting that bottle of vodka and they said if I get a vanilla bean and stick it in the vodka and a certain amount of time I can’t remember exactly what time it is the actual bottle becomes literally vanilla extract and you can have a big bottle basically out of that I just got a find the vanilla beans the whole beans so that I can I think you cut them open or something I’ll have to do some more research and you put it into the vodka the whole beans and all including the outside part of it and literally in a matter of time you have pure vanilla extract
Let me know what happens if you try it!! BTW: I've heard you can buy the beans off of Amazon if you don't have a store near by the sells them. 😊
What I do is I go to my local produce and they give me free vegetables because they are imperfect. One day they gave me a box of tomatoes and red peppers.
I read that it is not safe to put fats like peanut butter where birds could possibly get them on their feathers or feet due to hypotheses risk. Oily foods belong in special feeders they can't perch on like suet feeders.
Hypothermia.
Thank you. I'll do some research!
I keep my quarter and the door handle and that’s what I use that way then I’m never running out and if you don’t have a quarter if you can go inside though give me one
Great idea! You're also not the only to mention that Aldi will give you a quarter... that's just about the best news!
I hate spending that much on batteries too. I know it's a better deal but I agree it's hard to make that purchase
I’ve been putting it off for months. Guess it was time to be a grown up! 😂
Just out of curiosity what state do you live in we live in Tennessee and love Edy's too but when we lived in California it was called Dryers. I am loving your grocery hauls.
Oh Angela... I may just have to buy those Walmart containers. Good price - holds a lot! Thanks for letting me know how much they hold.
I live in Illinois. Crazy how brands are called different names.
Enjoyed your video.
Glad you enjoyed it
The meat department at the store will cut them the way you want them for free. I buy it like that and I got 15-20 pork chops for 6.00 at Krogers. You just tell them the thickness and cut you want. They give it back to you cut and wrapped.
This is great news!! I'm going to talk with them next time I go shopping!
I love these videos
I’ve had both Sam’s club and COSTCO memberships. They are very similar but I prefer Sam’s .
Buy powder milk and anything else you can get.
So much plastic packaging in America .We have a lot of loose vegetable and we can take our own containers to meat and fish counter .
If you ask the employees for a cart they will give you ome
The burbon enhances the flavor
Madagascar bourbon vanilla, are the best beans. Has nothing to do with the alcohol bourbon, it is just the name of the bean.
I did the "no quarter" Aldi dance yesterday...the sale on salmon was so exciting I forgot to buy the pickles which I had originally gone to buy! Thankfully it was a slower time so I hiked back inside for those pickles!
Can't leave without the pickles! 😊 I found a quarter the other day and have set it aside for my next Aldi trip! 😊
Wow, groceries are expensive in the US compared to the UK
Some say that and others say we have much less expensive items. Crazy how different each place can be. 🤪
@@Thegrocerylady lol you what? Everything I've seen in the US is way more expensive compared to the UK. Lol
We only have Costco and bjs..never been to a Sam's but they look awesome
We'll have to switch places some time... I've never been to Costco or BJ's.
Most stores will cut the pork loin into the cuts that you want
Good morning 🌞
Good Morning!! ❤️
Our tax is included before the end. I live in Australia
Ok , do you want me to blow your mind? I live in Turkey. Minimum wage here is hourly almost 16 lira. You can imagine the prices as dolar now. 2 lbs of ground meat is 70, 1 lbs cheese is 24, 1 lbs Barilla pasta is 6, as exist in this video 25 lbs of flour is 80, 10 egg is 20 and cheapest 24 rulos of toilet paper is 60 lira. Over all you need to add everything%18 taxes. Everything. This is the cheapest prices btw. We have metro like Sam's club but everything expensive than other markets. It's just you can drop taxes if you have a business. Whole country burning down right now
Wow. That's insane. I'm so sorry things are so difficult there. Prayers my friend.
I'm sorry that I comment just yet, as I'm randomly rrwatching. But how the heck are you guys price and budget calculate, if taxes aren't stated clear or already in the price that is on the sign? 👀 Germany seems to be a step ahead on that!
Oh and there are plastic "quarters" that we hang on our Keychain! It's called a "Einkaufschip" so shopping chip! All of our shopping carts require one, or 1 Euro to use them
I need an Einkaufschip! Several Europeans have told me they have them, but no such luck here.
Every time I see you (or any other american grocery haul) and you buy „bread“ my austrian/italian heart is bleeding 😂.... that is toast at best 😭 you need to try some real bread if you ever visit Europe
I totally understand. I was born in Germany and have been to Europe several times… there is NOTHING like bread there!!
I try to make homemade as often as I can, too!
Are big box wholesale memberships worth it for two people in a small apartment?
Buy your storage and freezer bags at Walmart. Store brand. Way cheaper.
You are so right! I'm actually going to return the boxes to Sam's. I priced checked Meijer brand... significantly cheaper. I will price check Walmart before my next trip.
You could stick a quarter in the pocket on your wallet? And I know it’s technically illegal but you could use a sharpie and color it to remind you it’s for Aldi...
😊😊😊
At sams they will cut them for you.
I get my batteries from Amazon!
Dang, those potatoes are so cheap.I pay 3.99 in North Carolina. If they are on sale it’s 2/5
Crazy how different prices are for everyone.
My kids were born in Quincy at Blessing Hospital. We lived in BFE Missouri and had to travel to find an ob-gyn. When I was in school my 5th and 6th grade teacher took us to Dixon Mounds and Springfield, IL. It was very educational and fun.
Oh wow! I have actually never been to the Dixon Mounds (or heard of it 😳) I need to check it out!
Aldi cashiers will always give u a quarter and u can return it;)
This is fantastic news!! Thank you
You should get a freezer.
Maybe some day!
I defiantly like Costco better some stuff are way cheaper from what I see in your video
Costco. is cheaper then Sam's.
10$ for 2 hairspray😳????
