Awesome video bro. Actually surprising sound achieved with the H4N :0. Great comparison with both techniques. Thanks for taking the time to upload this :)
Cool demo -- thanks for doing this one. Quite a good price these and because of that I might get a pair to add to my growing microphone collection - lol. I have the H4N -- very cool piece. You can def hear the difference between the two especially since the H4N mics are XY and you have the PGA181's set up as a spaced pair. When you add the close mics w/the H4N it sounds like they may be out of phase with them. You can especially hear it with the snare. Loses punch and lowend.
I noticed that, too! It made me wonder if I had forgotten to turn the close mics on for that pass. My interface also has built-in phase correction, which I only had turned on for the condensers. I didn't even think about that for the H4N.

Thanks! The H4N is a great tool to have on hand. I love the range I’m getting with the new mics.

Dude, sounds fantastic! Good lil' upgrades here and there 😄
Thanks buddy! Now I just need to take more mixing lessons from you.

@@someroomtodrum Yeah, you should be able to flip the phase on the interface channel or in your DAW. What DAW do you use?
I’ve been getting by with Adobe Audition for now, since I have the CC subscription anyway. It’s pretty good but still lacking some pro features.
Would be interested to know they sound as close mics for toms, the spl should be high enough and they should have some decent rejection
I think someone made a TH-cam video about that and they sounded really good. I’ll try it someday for myself!
@@someroomtodrum ah that's cool! I did look for one and couldn't find one, hence finding your video :) it was good to hear them as overheads too
Here's that video: th-cam.com/video/IPRRb8elOrA/w-d-xo.html
They sound great but I'd like to try them on my own toms.
