Yes, the 770M spindle can be upgraded to the BT30 spindle with the installation of BT30 Spindle Upgrade Kit for 770M+ Mills, TTS To BT30 Power Drawbar Conversion Kit, the Bundle 770M+ Servo Upgrade Kit and the ECM1v1.5 Update Kit For 1100M And 770M. tormach.com/bundle-bt30-spindle-upgrade-kit-for-770m-mills.html and tormach.com/bundle-770m-servo-upgrade-kit.html

If you get the entry level machine how do you control it? can i use my laptop or a pc i build?

We sell a PathPilot controller that works with our machines. The xsTECH has an all in one touchscreen monitor/controller.
