Abstract
A violent hurricane brings widespread destruction to much of Louisiana. What the residents don't realize is the dark secret that this storm would unleash...
Analysis
This scenario is a remake of the original "Dark Storm" EAS scenario, which is loosely based on the plot of Resident Evil 7. The plot was revised to better align with the video game's storyline, with the titular storm taking place in 2014. As this timeline goes back to before the BMH system of NWR, the alerts and weather radio segments were revised to match the characteristics of the CRS era. The setting remains roughly the same, alternating between Houma and New Orleans, Louisiana. The track of the hurricane was slightly revised, making landfall further west than the original scenario. The paranormal elements of the original were removed, as I opted for a more realistic scenario that still ties to the plot of Resident Evil 7. To better connect the the game with the plot, a scene from the game is sampled alongside the scenario. This remake is nearly 30 minutes shorter than the original, as I aimed to remove excess padding and non-EAS alert content from the project. For non-weather alerts, I explored the various state and local emergency plans to better articulate messages.
Production
The visuals were created on Microsoft PowerPoint with some custom fonts and were recorded on OBS. The EAS headers and other audio were obtained/created from EASyKit: a resource for EAS scenarios. The TTS voices were sourced from an online demo. All audio elements were mixed on Audacity, and the final scenario was edited and rendered using iMovie. Total production time was roughly a month, coinciding with several other projects.
Other
Originally intended to be a sequel to "The Infection", this remake takes the original scenario's plot in a different direction. While I've noted many issues with my past projects, I felt this particular scenario was deserving of a remake. The execution of the original "Dark Storm" was outright nonsensical, attempting to make an anticipated sequel tied to a video game and also scary. I really don't like my attempt at being "scary" in the original scenario. After deleting the scenario amid lots of criticism, I think this remake is a better representation of what I originally intended. While this isn't a sequel to "The Infection", I think Resident Evil 7 has a good foundation for a potential infection storyline, even if I have no plans to make one (as I'm retiring from the EAS community). I'm happy I was able to turn one of my duds into something I had fun making.

I never thought I would say that you've nearly topped Raining Fire (which to be fair, I still like more) but this is absolutely an amazing scenario. One of my current favorites, your work never disappoints.
This is why I will always regard you and Shelter as the EAS elite. Ever since like 2016 I have always received A+ quality from you guys. In the sea of shit that is EAS scenarios, you guys are the 0.1%!

So this dark storm isn't a sequel to the dark storm redux (the infection 2), is this a standalone scenario or a prequal to that story? This is a great scenario and can't wait to see what happens next but, I'm just a little bit confused. If someone can clear this up for me?

Request: Can one be done using the old TV series Battlestar Galactica 1980? In this, several satellites and astronomers spot two fleets of aliens heading towards Earth, which puts all Earth militaries on RED ALERT status, the US on DEFCON-1 alert status. Soon, a humanoid alien contacts Earth, claiming that he and the other aliens are human, and that he is also human, identifies itself as Adama. He stated the other fleet, which is comprised of HUGE flying saucer-like craft are called Cylons and that they are hostile. Later these aliens attack Earth, and the Colonials Fleet. The Colonials, along with the World's militaries fight the Cylons. In actuality, the EBS(The actual emergency broadcasting system did exist at this time, mainly to report things like tornadoes and even if a nuclear war started) did exist at this time in the 1970s and 1980s. This will be up to you if the Colonials succeed or fail in repelling an alien attack. Nice job on the scenario here.❤❤❤❤❤

The old 2017 EAS Scenario was once about a hurricane that triggered some unforgiving horrors, now this remake has slightly increased focus on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
