I am a Penn State fan, and we have our own problems that need to be addressed, however, this FSU season has been shocking. I always respected FSU, especially during the Bowden era, but right now they’re on the verge of losing the program. It would be a shame to see FSU fall into the irrelevant category.

We at Clemson scratched our head when FSU went for DJ. We love the kid , but he drug our team down. It looked exactly like what I saw today.He has regressed since he was a freshman.He was actually good then (in a fill in role). The problem was that he affected the entire team and we saw an immediate difference as soon as he was pulled. That was in the ACC championship game. He played two series and threw four passes into the ground. Dabo made the switch and we sailed the rest of that game. He had been pulled several times that year ,but Dabo stuck with him until that game . Coach told him that this change was for good. The word I’ve heard is that he shines in practice.

I guess the coaches thought we were on some kind of cruise control, so to speak. I think Norvell fell in love with his arm strength and thought they could just rely on arm strength for deep passes. We do have some burners, but they are either inexperienced and/or too small, I guess. There have been a lot of easy drops. But, to your point, he is neither a great player nor does he have good pocket awareness, and cannot scramble, along with being inconsistent. I don't want to say he sucks, but he is not FSU or Clemson, both elite programs, material.

The problem with any HC being the play caller / OC is that the person who is supposed to hold those roles accountable for their performance, no longer can do that in a meaningful way. The modern Head Coach is a CEO. They need to organize, manage, and hold accountable their people. The CEO of chick fil an isn’t slinging chicken he’s busy seeing the big picture.

Might be helpful to objectively look at the opponent. The Tiger D was atrocious last season until the DC left right before the Liberty Bowl. Jordan Hankins stepped up as interim DC for that game and held Iowa State to ZERO rushing yards. Hankins was named DC after that effort. Since then, the Tiger D has been a different animal. Look at the MEM-FSU box score. MEM dominated that game in every category. It would be prudent for the Seminole staff to realize most teams you line up against can actually play ball. That said, I selfishly hope the Noles run the table, but also because Norvell is a solid coach. I don't know what's going on, but i have to wonder if there's discord between players or between players and staff. That doesn't sound like a Norvel locker room though.

If you replace him with somebody better than that’s fine but don’t make another Randy Shannon type hire is my point.

Just play the freshman qbs and prepare for next season. Its not even a question. Get every young guys experience so they dont transfer. Also, get an oc in the offseason since your not going anywhere. Neither am i since since i went to fsu in the early 80s. This kind of looks like those teams, but worse.
This year illustrates why relying on transfers is a bad strategy. Transfer portal players put the entire load on your coaches evaluation. Training, development, organizational culture, coaching acumen, etc. are all minimalized or removed completely. Even if you evaluate correctly there may not be a player of the caliber you need in the portal. Norvell has no excuse to be relying on transfers at a major program in Florida and within driving distance of Atlanta. Of course, none of this really explains why bottom feeder ACC and middling G5 teams are pushing them around
As a life long FSU fan, it's extremely difficult and deflating to see this. For a highly sought after coach in his fifth season to be 0-3 is embarrassing and his pressers are full of empty excuses and reasons. Apparently, last season was a perfect example of how great players on both side of the ball made a coach look really good. Seeing how poorly our defense has tackled through three games and I swear, it looks like they are getting worse. They look slow compared to three different offenses now. So it's not just a "oh they had a bad game," they are trash. Who's the leader on defense by the way? Anyone? I don't even have words for the offense. DJ must be benched because now you are showing that poor QB play is acceptable. There is no reason to keep him in anymore. ZERO. We may lose all our games, but other QBs are going to show fight. The O-line is trash. Can't block, continually bullied and yes, part of the reason DJ is looking so horrible. RBs aren't explosive and missing all kinds of blocking assignments. What is camp for if this is the result? And yes, one WR had a ok day this year. Nobody has stood out, nobody wants to break 300 yards receiving this year. It's ridiculous and embarrassing where this team is right now. It's even more embarrassing and laughable that Norvell has no answer. ZERO. How many games can he continue to say this is on me? We need to clean things up? Our coaches need to work harder? Just stop already.... Sorry to say it but: clean house, bring in Urban Meyer and hold the players accountable again. Actually accountable. The part that makes me the most angry is they’ve never even put Brock in for a single series in 3 games. I understand he’s almost certainly not going to be better, but let’s not act like there’s never been a time that the backup came in and surprised everyone. Might be helpful to objectively look at the opponent. The Tiger D was atrocious last season until the DC left right before the Liberty Bowl.
Jordan Hankins stepped up as interim DC for that game and held Iowa State to ZERO rushing yards. Hankins was named DC after that effort.
Since then, the Tiger D has been a different animal.
Look at the MEM-FSU box score. MEM dominated that game in every category.
It would be prudent for the Seminole staff to realize most teams you line up against can actually play ball.
That said, I selfishly hope the Noles run the table, but also because Norvell is a solid coach. I don't know what's going on, but i have to wonder if there's discord between players or between players and staff. That doesn't sound like a Norvel locker room though.

Not a Nole fan but you guys were a total of 35 points away from losing 5 games last season…Jordan Travis and company were able to pull a rabbit out of their hat and scrape by several times last year. You only beat BC by 2 last season! Norvell is garbage and you guys let him gaslight you into thinking it was okay to lose to us by 60 points in the bowl game when in reality the backups clearly hadn’t been coached up the entire year! It should always be next man up and yes y’all probably would have still lossed, but it should have NEVER been by 60 points. That bowl game injected a loser attitude into the program. Reap what you sow.
I think OC, DE, and LB all need changes. Keep Atkins as an OL coach but we need an outside coordinator

To say we haven’t had a competent line yet under him isn’t true have they been legit good good yet? No. 2022 and most of 23 they were competent. But my main point for atkins not being let go is because he doesn’t just recruit OL. He’s one of few guys on the staff that’s good at that particular skill. If you replace him with somebody better than that’s fine but don’t make another Randy Shannon type hire is my point.

Just play the freshman qbs and prepare for next season. Its not even a question. Get every young guys experience so they dont transfer. Also, get an oc in the offseason since your not going anywhere. Neither am i since since i went to fsu in the early 80s. This kind of looks like those teams, but worse.

This year illustrates why relying on transfers is a bad strategy. Transfer portal players put the entire load on your coaches evaluation.
Training, development, organizational culture, coaching acumen, etc. are all minimalized or removed completely.
Even if you evaluate correctly there may not be a player of the caliber you need in the portal.
Norvell has no excuse to be relying on transfers at a major program in Florida and within driving distance of Atlanta.
Of course, none of this really explains why bottom feeder ACC and middling G5 teams are pushing them around
As a life long FSU fan, it's extremely difficult and deflating to see this. For a highly sought after coach in his fifth season to be 0-3 is embarrassing and his pressers are full of empty excuses and reasons. Apparently, last season was a perfect example of how great players on both side of the ball made a coach look really good. Seeing how poorly our defense has tackled through three games and I swear, it looks like they are getting worse. They look slow compared to three different offenses now. So it's not just a "oh they had a bad game," they are trash. Who's the leader on defense by the way? Anyone? I don't even have words for the offense. DJ must be benched because now you are showing that poor QB play is acceptable. There is no reason to keep him in anymore. ZERO. We may lose all our games, but other QBs are going to show fight. The O-line is trash. Can't block, continually bullied and yes, part of the reason DJ is looking so horrible. RBs aren't explosive and missing all kinds of blocking assignments. What is camp for if this is the result? And yes, one WR had a ok day this year. Nobody has stood out, nobody wants to break 300 yards receiving this year. It's ridiculous and embarrassing where this team is right now. It's even more embarrassing and laughable that Norvell has no answer. ZERO. How many games can he continue to say this is on me? We need to clean things up? Our coaches need to work harder? Just stop already.... Sorry to say it but: clean house, bring in Urban Meyer and hold the players accountable again. Actually accountable. Still cracks me up that anyone thought the NIL was ever a good thing. Gets harder and harder to say, but Go 'Noles.

Where were the guys who were supposed to cover the Memphis Tied Ends? Memphis had a much better game plan. They knew the Noles would cover the top rated wide receivers so Memphis went to the wide open tied end.
Your O line was dominated by a much better Memphis D line. The Noles ran sideline to sideline because the O line made no holes.

I have watched and financially supported FSU since 1979. The only time I did not participate was during the Wille Taggert years when I saw the direction of the program. I will NOT support this program until a change in made at QB. I would rather have a freshman with heart.

The part that makes me the most angry is they’ve never even put Brock in for a single series in 3 games. I 100% agree. It sucks watching and being a fan. I’m no stranger to bad games, seasons, coaches, etc. but this is different. I know it would help my life if I could not watch and not care, but I can’t. This team is just unbelievably terrible. I’ve watched thousands of games. This team is historically bad as far as big programs go. It’s just so unbelievable.
