Patel is a breath of fresh air for this channel … he’s not partisan. He’s smart enough to criticize both parties and also attribute successful policies to the correct party / individuals…
The Elon apologists , there are many on this channel (Farzad included)… need to listen and learn from this guy !!!
I will add … I’m personally looking forward to having two functioning political parties in the US … I’m a moderate (center left) but desire a move to the middle in contrast to the trumpism and Bernie Sanders mentality

We need models to assess the cost/benefit of unions to all involved. I read Mitt Romney's autobiography, and to give an appraisal of union relations at American Motors where George Romney was the CEO and past savior of AM, Mitt wanted to talk to the workers on the shop floor, but supervisors said that it was too dangerous to do on account of the level of animosity of the workers! And this was a family that had previously saved the company and the jobs of the workers!

    • @colingenge9999

Even though the auto workers union is incredibly corrupt with most of the management being convicted of felonies, they are still a political force, so there must be someway of working with them. Creating meaningful legislations that would encourage unions to work for the benefit of their members instead of management would be a good start as would, including in that legislation labor laws that would apply to every citizen of the United States.

The best most accurate way to think of them, is as another layer of middle-management, just more people skimming your paycheck for their own benefit.

Tesla can be a World leader in technology, and Biden can be a great President, and trump can be the greatest existential risk we have as reported on trump’s entire staff and all those who know him. Just bc Biden foolishly does not support Tesla does not mean that trump can solve a single problem.
Pretending that trump would be capable of any sort of coherent planning is a pipe dream given he’s never assembled even one meaningful sentence on any issue the presents a nuanced understanding of it. If you disagree, please quote it.

      Why?
Well, if nothing else it MIGHT save the US Auto Industry?

Harris and Buttigieg are smart enough to realize the amazing Ryall benefits Tesla offers. Unfortunately Biden was too old-fashioned to realize what technologies will drive the century. Surely an intelligent new administration will find a way to have non-union Tesla and SpaceX exist along leg jobs such as plumber and electricians who can work well within the union matrix. Harris has already stated a need to expand training and certification for trades which America desperately needs in a country where virtually every house is feeling to one degree or another due to lack of expertise.

And I can't give you the link to the information because TH-cam deletes the comment if I do.

In re: Musk’s endorsement of Trump. I’m still a democrat but an ardent believer in Musks vision, his brilliance, and successes, etc., I’m going to follow his recommendation. But whoever wins POTUS, I think it won’t be too long into the future the entire world will see that Elon Musk is truly altruistic.

What a great interview. Farzad, you won me back with this one. I agree that Biden snubbed Elon for the EV Summit. It was painful, but Elon should have not cared. (For a man who can put up with alot, he came across pretty weak.) Tesla is the leading EV company and brand in the world. On top of that, the fact that the IRA is helping push Tesla more than any other company is a huge action of the government backing them, along with the supercharging network investment. I frankly don't like what Elon has become, but I have a soft spot for Tesla as a company. Still own shares and follow news. Considering buying a Tesla once again.

IRA helps Tesla most not because it wants to but by Tesla own hard work that Tesla benefited the most. Remember Tesla was only getting the $4500 because they are not unionized under the non-passed IRA.

Something that I think was overlooked in this conversation, was the fact that Elon said over and over how important and existential the issue of freedom of speech was. I don't think this was hyperbole... I think he really meant it - that censorship is an existential threat to democracy. You don't need to read that much more into this. I take him at his word.

The energy unlocking crypto value, it's weird, but not that weird, it's similar to gold. Gold is nearly usless but we spend a huge amount of work and energy to extract it to make value.

    • @alanlight7740
      @alanlight7740 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes - and the banking industry uses both a great deal of energy and labor.
One advantage of crypto is that it is much easier to shift the location of power usage than other industries, both short term and long term. That can help with both load balancing and with funding the development of new energy sources, especially stranded renewable assets. Once the new capacity is built other industries can move in to take advantage of the available energy while the mining rigs are moved to another favorable location. In these ways crypto mining can actually help speed up the adoption of renewable energy, especially in isolated places. This is of course besides its main functions as money, value transfer, and verification.

Thank you for a great interview. Rohan is making so much sense and I follow him on X.
Just a quick note on his comment on blockchain and its energy consumption. He is right that some blockchains (I.e. Bitcoin) require the energy use, but there are now more advanced protocol that do not use energy as a security measure (I.e. Cardano).
So the newer and smarter blockchains do not have the negative grid and environmental impacts, while having all and more of the functionality.

PHEVs are terrible. They are NOT EVs! Calling them EVs is only good marketing.
EREVs on the other hand are golden. They truly deliver the promise of the best of both worlds. 100% EV driving for everyday local trips and long-range capabilities for the occasional longer trip, all delivered with a smaller battery (30 kWh +/-) with all the benefits that gives.
