- I am toning my hair with manic panic ultra violet. I attempted to tone some brassiness out of my hair and possibly get a slight lilac tint. Very black hair to ashy blonde hair.
I left the product in for about 1.5 hours. I recommend leaving it in longer if your hair is very brassy. I also recommend being fairly ok with your hair turning a little bit lilac/pastel purple.
Please if you guys have any tips or any comments leave them below! I would love to hear how you guys tone and keep your hair healthy!

Manic Panic can actually be left in for quite a long time and it is not damaging to your hair. I recommend that you wash your hair with warm or cold water and not hot water (though hot water feels so good so like honestly whatever do you)
I did this again the following week with a little more purple dye and you can see in some of my other videos how silver my hair looks!!
i tried this and here are my tips:
1. don’t underestimate the amount of purple to put in. ik can be scary if you don’t want to turn purple but it will wash out quickly if that happens. i didn’t put enough purple in and i had to do it 3 times before i got the desired result .
2. i would recommend to leave it in for 1+ hours. i did 25 mins the first time and it didn’t work.
3. get wayyy more conditioner than you’d expect. like a giant bottle. it goes quickly and you don’t want to run out in the middle.
4. plan to do it every 2 weeks or so if you want to maintain the light blonde. but it’s honestly nbd bc it’s not damaging for your hair and makes it feel super nice after!

Yeah I really need that support group. Wanted blonde hair for my birthday which is now tomorrow. Been attempted this for 2 weeks now. Three bleach attempts, FOUR different toning options later and still have orange ish hair 😰 hopefully I can salvage this before the big day, but holy moly THE STRESS
I honestly think that this colour actually suits you more than the platinum blonde would 2000%. Please don’t risk damaging your hair.🥰
Looks beautiful, it was really helpful. I am going gray (60 yrs) and have be doing blond highlights for years. I wanted to try to tone them so they blend with the gray. I love the idea of mixing it with conditioner. Going to try it now, wish me luck
Good luck! Remember it’s a bit of trial and error but luckily manic panic washes out pretty quick when you use a stronger shampoo !
Thanks, I tried a light color, no real difference. I tried a medium gray and it really toned down the yellow. I’m going to go darker gray. Thanks again for reaching out.
Update! I have noticed that the purple adds a slight gray tone and a light blue dye can add a more cool tone! Also, I recently rebleached my roots and used coconut oil right after along with some almond oil which really helped soften.

Finally, Someone who has as much hair as I and my daughter have! Quite a workout when brushing and washing. So happy I found this. That's me in the picture by my name with my hair which I myself lightened from my *Sicilian* dark brown hair. I don't think people realize how much of an intense upkeep it is when you have a lot of very thick, dense hair. It truly takes quite a long time to wash and brush. Boring or relaxing? @@laurenturner3102 yes it is!!!!!!!!!!! find the deepness of lavander you want mixed in conditioner I did mine a bit more then the average vids, and left it in for 25 minutes and OMGGGGGGGG way better then wella toners or purple shampoos and I am not kidding, color is what I always tried to get but never could and my hair became verrry brassy from a medium ash blonde. love this, win, win, toned hair with softness. I will never ever use toners again! nor drying shampoos.

You’re really cute the way you just own up to your irritation and not sectioning it and all that. Regardless I’m really impressed with how it came out.
Your hair looks so beautiful!! I have similar coloring. I tried it without conditioner, and I got much more extreme tones of lilac... But it was still pretty. The biggest problem is that it washed out within two washes. So if I want it to be permanent, basically I have to make a very strongly tinted conditioner and do it every wash, I guess.
God I am at this point right now. I toned my hair today after a brassy dye job and I guess I did not get the right toner. Picked up some manic panic at sally's to hopefully be DONE with dying for a minute.... thanks for the video this is about where my hair color is at and it give me hope!
How did it go?
Always remember though to tone darker, more orange brassy hair blue is needed to cancel out the orange. Purple is violet and it tones only pale yellow hair,not orange :)
Yes now I know ! Ty! Guess watching only 10 videos went enoughband it ruined my hair! Felt like horse hair and this was AFTER a nice home DYi banana honey mask ! Now I’m having to find a color corrector stylist which will cost me a fortune and can’t wear a hat at work! Looks like bad iron in my water or over chlorinated pool hair with gray strands proper and greenish - very ugly and I even sectioned it and combed through with fine tooth comb! Very uncheck and not attractive st all and even bangs are still brassy!!! Used the blue too as I should have and only left in 20 min thank God versus 2 hours and missed an hour and a half of a party !!! 🤬 never again will I use any FYI yt vids no matter others “success” I liked her hair more before than after. Don’t like the trending old lady gray white hair at all!

how did it come out with Arctic fox? How long did it last, and what shade?
I gave up on purple..it never worked on my brassy hair. I tried blue semi permanent hair dye and it worked!!
I think for trying to go through this transition by yourself, it came out good. Now let your hair heal for like 6 to 8 weeks before trying to lighten it again. Trust the process

It stains the skin which is why it’s best to use a brush AND it mixes better than with a spoon . Quit sucking up

Thank you! Yes this method def takes some experimentation with the proportion of dye to conditioner but it’s the easiest method I’ve found :)

You're the first person on YT I've seen that has as much hair as I do. Nobody understands the struggle. You are gorgeous and I don't think it would matter how your hair turned out, it wouldn't change that. I'm thinking maybe MP Blue Steel might be a better choice to get rid of brassiness, or maybe even Blue Moon if you use very little. Still, what you ended up with looks cute on you.

I love your hair! I actually liked it before you toned as well. The before is more like Shakira's hair which is beautiful. The after also looks great and you could do a whole head of lavender and that would be pretty also.I wonder if you're a nuetral skin tone because you look great in both the yellow and the ashy blonde!

I need a support group too. I don’t wanna let anyone else do my hair because I wanna see what’s going on so I bought a bunch of manic panic bleach and also the vegan color as well as some really good protein treatments and I can’t remember the name but it comes in a pack of three for like $17 and it’s so worth it. My hair is so soft and I dyed it a lot even though I only use 10 volume but I’m thinking because I have curly hair when I dye my hair with bleach I’m going to have to leave it a little damp so I can get the color through because I can’t do it with curly hair and I’m gonna need a comb so it’ll probably reduce the 30 volume to like a 25 volume but I will try to get it to where I want because I usually use 10 volume was permanent dye so I think a 25 will make a difference. I’m afraid to go for 30. Just in case it gets on my route so don’t wanna burning

How long did you leave the mix on your hair before you washed it? I've done this before but I can't remember if I should leave it in for 30 mins. It really does work!
If I use more conditioner vs dye I leave it in longer so about 1 hour :) If there is more dye I would recommend doing a strand test for 20-30 minutes to see if you like the color tone!

tbh the manic panic does fade pretty quickly but the few weeks it does stay it looks sooo pretty!

It takes about an hour to apply and you keep it in for 2 hours at least

It can just make sure you dilute it with the conditioner and do a test strand! I’ve done it with most semipermanent dyes - even the “adore” brand ones

To avoid the purple I have heard that you could put some catchup in it and that will get rid of the unwanted color because it cancels out purple and it cancels out blue. I am planning on using two different boxes of manic panic one is lightning and one is blue lightning and I’m going to mix them together just to make sure I cover everything and I got some stiletto Silver and I got a purple violet color so I guess I’ll try one and then the other because they don’t last long. I also have to dye my roots because I have a gray so I figure I’m going for a medium to dark blonde so I should not get that light. I am hoping for champagne Color

Leave it in for 1.5 hours at least ! 2/3 if your hair is very brassy.
My roots were a little toned with it but not too much.

I do my hair silver and was wondering if this color manic panic would tone it I use purple shampoo I have to put on yellow parts about 4times before the yellow will take some times I have a purple haze I am fine with it after 3days it turns silver thank you for sharing
purple shampoo never worked for me but this will def keep your hair looking silver! Just do not use too much purple dye if your hair is really light!

Can you add developer to this mixture? I’m more so looking to go lavender purple but wanna use this dye and mix w conditioner and thinking of throwing 10 or 20 volume in to last longer?
adding developer to this is probably a bad idea. manic panic only deposits color- it’s essentially like a stain for your hair where as permanent dye has chemicals in it (ammonia) that open up the hair shaft and penetrate the hair with color. adding developer (basically conditioner with a little bit of bleach) will just slightly lift and damage your hair and also probably alter the purple of the manic panic in an odd way...you could end up with a really strange color lol. no need to add developer to the manic panic. If you want the color to be brighter and possibly last longer, bleach your hair first, then dye with the manic panic.
@@jo-eo9ldmy hair is like very porous rn after several bleaches, would doing this dye + conditioner method help the color wash off faster and easier after a few days/weeks? 😭 cos i wanna do a few colors so bad (im easily bored) but im scared bc of my hair condition the semi permanent dye is gonna be extra hard to come off thus leaving me no choice but to go dark again
@@cheryllang98 manic panic and “fashion colors” (ie rainbow colors) are some of the hardest colors to fully remove, period. If you want to cycle through colors I would be strategic with how you do it, probably going from lighter to darker colors. Like maybe start with yellow, then orange, then pink, then purple, then blue….your hair will be stained slightly after each color, even if you use color stripper (chemically damaging) or bleach (chemically damaging) and sometimes adding a new dye will push out colors that you haven’t had for months but are still deep in your hair shaft. If your hair is damaged already, I would NOT put bleach or color remover on it. But, semi-permanent hair dye (“fashion colors”) aren’t going to damage the health or integrity of your hair more, just stain it.

How long did this last? I tried this but rinse (don’t shampoo) my hair every other day and it faded the first time i rinsed it back to brassy. 😑

Bunny Baby it faded the first time after one wash but I don’t think i did it dark enough and long enough. Every time I’ve done it since then it will last over the next several washes. If you Co-wash it last about a month for me.

Try a cheap shampoo mixed with just a little dish soap and work it through the hair and let it sit for about 2 minutes! It should rinse out some of the blue!
Honestly this video would be so much better if you didn't spend over half the video just showing you mixing your dye. Edit some of that out people don't want to watch all that. Js
