  • While racing my 2012 Cobra Jet Mustang at Indy in the FS/G class final on Thursday (8-29-24), I was not able to shift into 5th gear with my G-Force transmission. It ended up being a 5th gear slider, face plate and shift lever. Joe and I then removed the transmission and replaced the slider and face plate and re-installed the transmission on Friday. As we were putting the shifter linkage back on, we noticed that the 5th gear shift lever had cracked. A big thank you to Jim Schaechter who had a spare shift lever to loan to us. Thanks to John Calver for letting us use his hoist. Thanks to Joe Pavlovich for helping me in the 97 degree weather. I could have never done this by myself. We were able to finish if up Friday afternoon. We are now ready to run the eliminator on Saturday, when it quits raining.

Nothing like a good old fashion thrash. Kudos for everyone that jumped in to help, our racing families are priceless. Glad it was not worse!

Nice video. I purchase my first 5R in 1997. One thing I learned to do is to check the shifting arms every season. If any are loose on the spud, I change them. Being loose, even a little, has caused me to miss gears. Good luck this weekend.
