A lot of brands still use sweatshops, but people seem to think SHEIN is the worst and only one. Nike, Zara, H&M, ASOS, Adidas, Victoria’s Secret, and many more. But because people choose to by from SHEIN, they get people looooosing it on them. I do not condone what SHEIN does, but people need to realize it isn’t the only brand that does these awful things.
They are one of the worst offenders by a significant degree, solely on the number of products they put out a week. According to the BBC there are as many as 600,000 items on the site at any given time... Let's say 1% doesn't sell well and each clothing run has 500 pieces. That is 3000000 pieces of garbage alone!!! I don't like H&M or Zara either but just lumping Shein into the pile of awful companies feels like lumping together a shoplifter and war criminal.

I can only afford fast fashion, and even if could afford designer clothes, i wouldnt pay 60 euros for a hoodie...I shop from Shein from time to time, but I use their clothes for as long as I can, and I dont buy clothes for 600$ every week. I think if you use the clothes you buy until they last, that's not unsustainable at all. Plus the main reason I shop from Shein, is because in my country, clothes in that particular style I like are really hard to obtain, and even if I find a shop which sells those kind of clothes, the cheapest dress is at least 100$...

Shein is so messed up, they steal companies designs then pay their workers $0.4 per piece and make them work 18 hours a day. The workers only get 1 day off every month and if they make one small mistake then 2/3 of their paycheck gets taken from them. Plz stop supporting shein.

Y’all do know that Walmart also does this right? Fast fashion or not, many high fashion companies do this. Not only the clothing industry, also makeup franchises. It’s sad people are just now realizing this.
But shein is especially bad, and their manufacture breaks a lot of safety rules in terms of their fabric. They use toxic dyes, ethanol, dozens of chemicals, the fabric is literally made of the same thing as a garage bag. So, for young people, it can even cause harm. Like god, you guys agree to wear that thrash on your skin… every day 🤢, other brands (like H&M, Zara etc.) at least have cotton or polyester. And that’s the problem with this company.

Can yall stop acting like you're only shopping from sustainable brands? I can only afford fast fashion, and even if could afford designer clothes, i wouldnt pay 60 euros for a hoodie...I shop from Shein from time to time, but I use their clothes for as long as I can, and I dont buy clothes for 600$ every week. I think if you use the clothes you buy until they last, that's not unsustainable at all.
Plus the main reason I shop from Shein, is because in my country, clothes in that particular style I like are really hard to obtain, and even if I find a shop which sells those kind of clothes, the cheapest dress is at least 100$...

You can call me sensitive all you want but I think it is terrible that so many of the people in this comment section don’t care at all about the conditions of the workers at shein. It may be cheap and affordable but there are so many more options. For example, a thrift store. I can assure there has got to be one no more than 15 miles away from the people in the comments.
